Integral Sliding Mode Control Design for Electronic Throttle Valve System
...Show More Authors

Abstract

One of the major components in an automobile engine is the throttle valve part. It is used to keep up with emissions and fuel efficiency low. Design a control system to the throttle valve is newly common requirement trend in automotive technology. The non-smoothness nonlinearity in throttle valve model are due to the friction model and the nonlinear spring, the uncertainty in system parameters and non-satisfying the matching condition are the main obstacles when designing a throttle plate controller.

In this work, the theory of the Integral Sliding Mode Control (ISMC) is utilized to design a robust controller for the Electronic Throttle Valve (ETV) system. From the first instant, the electronic throttle valve dynamics is represented by the nominal system model, this model is not affected by system parameters uncertainty and the non-smooth nonlinearities. This is a consequence of applying the integral sliding mode control. The ISMC consists of two part; the first is the nominal control which is used to control the nominal system, while the second is a discontinuous part which is used to eliminate the effects of the parameters uncertainty and the non-smooth nonlinearities from system model. These features for the ISMC are proved mathematically and demonstrated numerically via seven numerical simulations and for different desired trajectories.  The simulation results clarify that for different system parameters, the ETV behaves as a nominal system. This enables to freely and precisely select the system response characteristics and the time required for the throttle angle to reach the desired value. Moreover the ability to deal with the chattering problem is demonstrated through the worked  simulation tests, where the chattering is eliminated via approximating the signum function by arc tan function.

Molecular Identification of Rhizosphere Trichoderma spp. and Their Antagonistic Impact Against Some Plant Pathogenic Fungi
...Show More Authors

The main aim of this study was to molecular identification and determine the antagonistic impact of rhizosphere Trichoderma spp. against some phytopathogenic fungi, including (Magnaporthe grisea) pyricularia oryzae, Rhizoctonia solani and Macrophomina phasolina. Four Trichoderma isolates were isolated from rhizosphere soils of the different host plants in different locations of Egyptian governorates. The morphological characterization of isolated Trichoderma as well as using of (ITS1-5.8S-ITS2) ribosomal gene sequence acquisition and data analyses. By comparing the results of DNA sequences of ITS region, the fungi represented one isolate were positively identified as T. asperellum (1 isolate T1) and one as T. longibrachiatum (1 isolate T2)

Double Function Random Early Detection (DFRED): A Revised RED-Oriented Algorithm
...Show More Authors

Dropping packets with a linear function between two configured queue thresholds in Random Early Detection (RED) model is incapable of yielding satisfactory network performance. In this article, a new enhanced and effective active queue management algorithm, termed Double Function RED (DFRED in short) is developed to further curtail network delay. Specifically, DFRED algorithm amends the packet dropping probability approach of RED by dividing it into two sub-segments. The first and second partitions utilizes and implements a quadratic and linear increase respectively in the packet dropping probability computation to distinguish between two traffic loads: low and high. The ns-3 simulation performance evaluations clearly indicate t

Effect of Orange Peel (Citrus sinensis) (L) extrcts and powder on confused flour beetle Tribolum confusum (Coleoptera: Teneberionidae)
...Show More Authors

This study was carried out to determine the effect of extras of orange peel of (Citrus sinensis) in concentrations (1,5, 10) % as well as stomachic effect for the powder of the plant with doses of 5,10 , 15/gm on the biological activities of the adults of Tribolim confusum . The effect of powder from the adults has been evaluated using different concentrations of the orange peel. The results showed that the powder have significant effect on the mortality rates of adults. and caused reduction in number of adults after 3 days with 5,10,15/gm killed (30,40, 43.3)% respectively. The use of different doses of Citrus sinensis peels powder not impact significantly after just one day. The extract of essential oil also caused growth inhibition in

Biological activity of some plants extract against in the survival of rate adult Oryzaephilus surinamensis (Coleopteran Silvanaidae)
...Show More Authors

A laboratory study was conducted to evaluate the effect of crud extracts from seven plant species (Nigella sativa, Eugenia caryophylota, Corianderum sativum, Piper nigrum, Peganum hermala, Achillea santolina, Citrullus colocynthis) belong to different families tested as food feeding toxicity against adult of Oryzaephilus surinamensis. The results of the current study showed that hexane extracts from all plants used were more influential in all used concentrations than, the alcoholic extract, and hexane extract of Hanzal was more effective reaching survival rate of adult to 58.3% at concentration of 10% then the plant yarrow and black pepper about 66.2%, and 67.3% respectively, at the same concentration. While the survival rate was approx

Association of CTLA-4 Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms with Autoimmune Hypothyroidism in Iraqi Patients
...Show More Authors

Genetic and environmental factors are believed to have a key role in the development and pathogenesis of autoimmune thyroid diseases (AITD). This study aimed to investigate the association between two CTLA-4 gene single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) CT60/rs3087243 and CT61/rs11571319 with autoimmune thyroiditis in a sample of Iraqi patients. Seventy-five patients (67 females, 8 males) and eighty-eight subjects (79 females and 9 males) matched in age, gender, and ethnicity as a control group. Thyroid autoantibodies were present in females more than in males with a total positivity of anti-TPO of 92% and anti-TG positivity of
57.3 %. Thyroid evaluation tests including T3, T4, and TSH were abnormal only in patients not receiving L-th

Studying the Chaotic Dynamics Using Rossler-Chua Systems Combined with A Semiconductor Laser
...Show More Authors

In this paper, two different chaotic dynamic systems are coupled using a semiconductor laser to produce a new chaotic system. These two chaotic systems are Rossler and Chua systems. X-dynamic of Rossler system was coupled optically using optical fiber as a carrier of signal with x, y, and z-dynamics of Chua system. The results were analyzed and the behavior of Chua system was found to be changing in time series which, in turn, changed the attractor. The Chua attractor was converted from double scroll to single scroll. The results obtained from connecting two different systems in chaotic behavior showed a remarkable increase in the bandwidth of Chua system. This increase in bandwidth opens up a wide field for many

Retrieval of Timewise Coefficients in the Heat Equation from Nonlocal Overdetermination Conditions
...Show More Authors

This paper investigates the simultaneous recovery for two time-dependent coefficients for heat equation under Neumann boundary condition. This problem is considered under extra conditions of nonlocal type. The main issue with this problem is the solution unstable to small contamination of noise in the input data. The Crank-Nicolson finite difference method is utilized to solve the direct problem whilst the inverse problem is viewed as nonlinear optimization problem. The later problem is solved numerically using optimization toolbox from MATLAB. We found that the numerical results are accurate and stable.

Determination of third order susceptibility of carbon quantum dots at different concentrations
...Show More Authors

The nonlinear refractive (NLR) index and third order susceptibility (X3) of carbon quantum dots (CQDs) have been studied using two laser wavelengths (473 and 532 nm). The z-scan technique was used to examine the nonlinearity. Results showed that all concentrations have negative NLR indices in the order of 10−10 cm2/W at two laser wavelengths. Moreover, the nonlinearity of CQDs was improved by increasing the concentration of CQDs. The highest value of third order susceptibility was found to be 3.32*10−8 (esu) for CQDs with a concentration of 70 mA at 473 nm wavelength.
