Tools and Process of Defect Detection in Automated Manufacturing Systems

INTRODUCTION: A range of tools and technologies are at disposal for the purpose of defect detection. These include but are not limited to sensors, Statistical Process Control (SPC) software, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) algorithms, X-ray systems, ultrasound systems, and eddy current systems. OBJECTIVES: The determination of the suitable instrument or combination of instruments is contingent upon the precise production procedure and the category of flaw being identified. In certain cases, defects may necessitate real-time monitoring and analysis through the use of sensors and SPC software, whereas more comprehensive analysis may be required for other defects through the utilization of X-ray or ultrasound systems. METHODS: The utilization of AI and ML algorithms has gained significant traction in the realm of defect detection. This is attributed to their ability to process vast amounts of data and discern patterns that may have otherwise eluded detection. The aforementioned tools have the capability to anticipate potential flaws and implement pre-emptive measures to avert their occurrence. RESULTS: The detection of defects in automated manufacturing systems is a continuous process that necessitates meticulous observation and examination to guarantee prompt and effective identification and resolution of defects. CONCLUSION: The utilization of suitable tools and technologies is imperative for manufacturers to guarantee optimal production quality and operational success.

A Study of Parameters Affecting the Solvent Extraction-Flocculation Process of Used Lubricating Oil

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of operating variables on, the percentage of removed sludge (PSR) obtained during re-refining of 15W-40 Al-Durra spent lubricant by solvent extraction-flocculation treatment method. Binary solvents were used such as, Heavy Naphtha (H.N.): MEK (N:MEK), H.N. : n-Butanol (N:n-But), and H.N. : Iso-Butanol (N:Iso:But). A Study of the mechanical properties of aluminum composite materials prepared by atomization process

Steel fiber aluminum matrix composites were prepared by atomization technique. Different air atomization conditions were considered; which were atomization pressure and distance between sample and nozzle. Tensile stress properties were studied. XRF and XRD techniques were used to study the primary compositions and the structure of the raw materials and the atomized products. The tensile results showed that the best reported tensile strength observed for an atomization pressure equal to 4 mbar and sample to nozzle distance equal to 12 cm. Young modulus results showed that the best result occurred with an air atomization pressure equal to 8 mbar and sample to nozzle distance equal to 16cm

Calculations of Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) for Free Space Optical Communication Systems

In this paper, we calculate and measure the SNR theoretically and experimental for digital full duplex optical communication systems for different ranges in free space, the system consists of transmitter and receiver in each side. The semiconductor laser (pointer) was used as a carrier wave in free space with the specification is 5mW power and 650nm wavelength. The type of optical detector was used a PIN with area 1mm2 and responsively 0.4A/W for this wavelength. The results show a high quality optical communication system for different range from (300-1300)m with different bit rat (60-140)kbit/sec is achieved with best values of the signal to noise ratio (SNR).
