Color Image Compression System by using Block Categorization Based on Spatial Details and DCT Followed by Improved Entropy Encoder

In this paper, a new high-performance lossy compression technique based on DCT is proposed. The image is partitioned into blocks of a size of NxN (where N is multiple of 2), each block is categorized whether it is high frequency (uncorrelated block) or low frequency (correlated block) according to its spatial details, this done by calculating the energy of block by taking the absolute sum of differential pulse code modulation (DPCM) differences between pixels to determine the level of correlation by using a specified threshold value. The image blocks will be scanned and converted into 1D vectors using horizontal scan order. Then, 1D-DCT is applied for each vector to produce transform coefficients. The transformed coefficients will be qua

Deasphalting of Atmospheric Iraqi Residue using Different Solvents

Different solvents (light naphtha, n-heptane, and n-hexane) are used to treat Iraqi Atmospheric oil residue by the deasphalting process. Oil residue from Al-Dura refinery with specific gravity 0.9705, API 14.9, and 0.5 wt. % sulfur content was used. Deasphalting oil (DAO) was examined on a laboratory scale by using solvents with different operation conditions (temperature, concentration of solvent, solvent to oil ratio, and duration time). This study investigates the effects of these parameters on asphaltene yield. The results show that an increase in temperature for all solvents increases the extraction of asphaltene yield. The higher reduction in asphaltene content is obtained with hexane solvent at operating conditions of (90 °C

Modified Vegetation Detection Index Using Different-Spectral Signature

The Normalization Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), for many years, was widely used in remote sensing for the detection of vegetation land cover. This index uses red channel radiances (i.e., 0.66 μm reflectance) and near-IR channel (i.e., 0.86 μm reflectance). In the heavy chlorophyll absorption area, the red channel is located, while in the high reflectance plateau of vegetation canopies, the Near-IR channel is situated. Senses of channels (Red & Near- IR) read variance depths over vegetation canopies. In the present study, a further index for vegetation identification is proposed. The normalized difference vegetation shortwave index (NDVSI) is defined as the difference between the cubic bands of Near- IR and Shortwave infrared

A Double Clustering Approach for Color Image Segmentation

One of the significant stages in computer vision is image segmentation which is fundamental for different applications, for example, robot control and military target recognition, as well as image analysis of remote sensing applications. Studies have dealt with the process of improving the classification of all types of data, whether text or audio or images, one of the latest studies in which researchers have worked to build a simple, effective, and high-accuracy model capable of classifying emotions from speech data, while several studies dealt with improving textual grouping. In this study, we seek to improve the classification of image division using a novel approach depending on two methods used to segment the images. The first

Color-based for tree yield fruits image counting

Identifying the total number of fruits on trees has long been of interest in agricultural crop estimation work. Yield prediction of fruits in practical environment is one of the hard and significant tasks to obtain better results in crop management system to achieve more productivity with regard to moderate cost. Utilized color vision in machine vision system to identify citrus fruits, and estimated yield information of the citrus grove in-real time. Fruit recognition algorithms based on color features to estimate the number of fruit. In the current research work, some low complexity and efficient image analysis approach was proposed to count yield fruits image in the natural scene. Semi automatic segmentation and yield calculation of fruit

Comparison Study Demosaicking of Bayer Color Filter Array

Image capturing in most still and  motion  digital  cameras  employs a charge  coupled  device  covered  with  a monolithic array  of color  filters such   that   each   pixel   samples  only   one  color   band.   Interpolation   is necessary   to  restore  the  missing  color  samples  in the  resulting mosaic, this process referred  to as demosaicking.

This  paper   gives  an  overview   of  demosaicking,  presents  few
