This research involves the synthesis of some sulphanyl benzimidazole derivatives (Ia-c), which were prepared from reaction of 2-mercaptobenzimidazole substituted benzyl halide, and structures were identified by spectral methods[FTIR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR].These compounds were investigated as corrosion inhibitors for carbon steel in 1M H2SO4 solution using weight loss, potentiostatic polarization methods; obtained results showed that the sulphanyl benzimidazole derivatives retard both cathodic and anodic reactions in acidic media, by virtue of adsorption on the carbon steel surface. This study included isolation of some active materials from Curcuma longa such as tannins, saponins and volatile oils with percentage of 59%, 31%, and 9% respectively. Also the study included the determination of minerals in Curcuma longa such as " Na, Ca and K" using Flame photometer.  This work reports the synthesis and characterization of some Co(111), Ni(11), Cu(11), Zn(l 1), Cd(1 1) and Hg(11) chelates of the new benzothia-zolylazo Ligand ( 5-Me-BTAC ) . The compounds were Characterized by IR , electronic spectroscopy, magnetic susceptibility ,elemental analysis and molar conductance measurements . The elemental analysis suggest the formula [ ML2 ] x.nH2O where x=Cl , n=1 for M= Co(111) and x=o , n=o for the remaining metal ions Electronic spectra and magnetic susceptibility data has supported the proposed octahedral geometry of Co(111) Ni(11) and Cu(1 I) Complexes. Conductivity measurements refer to nonionic structure of these Complexes except of Co(111) .

This study was carried out to determine the effects of some environmental variables on biodiversity index value of benthic invertebrates' community in samples that collected monthly from two adjacent sites nearby the confluence of Tigris and Diyala rivers within Baghdad city that’s from November 2007 - October 2008.  Five fish species were collected from Tigris river at Al-Adhamiyah region, Baghdad during the period from September to December 2011. These fishes were examined for ectoparasites. They were infected with 13 species of parasites which included one species of ciliated protozoans and 12 species of monogeneans. Among such parasites, Ligophorus imitans Euzet et Suriano, 1977 is reported for the first time in Iraq. In addition, eight new host records in Iraq were reported in the present study.
