Performance of Prestressed Concrete Hunched Beams with Multi-Quadrilaterals Openings

Abstract<p>A long-span Prestressed Concrete Hunched Beam with Multi-Quadrilateral Opening has been developed as an alternative to steel structural elements. An experimental program was created and evaluated utilizing a single mid-span monotonic static load on simply supported beams, which included six beams with openings and the solid control beam without openings, to investigate the performance of such beams. The number and height of the quadrilateral openings are the variables to consider. According to test results, the presence of openings in the prestressed concrete hunched beam with multi-quadrilateral opening did not considerably affect their ultimate load capacity with respect to a control beam (solid); the diminishing ratio of maximum strength capacity varied from 4.22 % to 13.5 %.</p>

Shear performance of a novel demountable connector for reusable steel-concrete composite structures

A novel demountable shear connector is proposed to link a concrete slab to steel sections in a way that resulting steel-concrete composite floor is demountable, i.e. it can be easily dismantled at the end of its service life. The proposed connectors consist of two parts: the first part is a hollow steel tube with internal threads at its lower end. The second part is a compatible partially threaded bolted stud. After linking the stud to the steel section, the hollow steel tube can be fastened over the threaded stud, which create a complete demountable shear connector. Investigating Fiber Reinforcement Effects on the Performance of Concrete Pavements under Repeated Load

This study evaluates fiber reinforcement with steel and carbon fibers in various combinations to improve rigid pavement performance. On Solving Singular Multi Point Boundary Value Problems with Nonlocal Condition

In this paper Hermite interpolation method is used for solving linear and non-linear second order singular multi point boundary value problems with nonlocal condition. The approximate solution is found in the form of a rapidly convergent polynomial. We discuss behavior of the solution in the neighborhood of the singularity point which appears to perform satisfactorily for singular problems. The examples to demonstrate the applicability and efficiency of the method have been given.
