     In the current study, 2D seismic data in west An-Najaf (WN-36 line) were received after many steps of processing by Oil Exploration Company in 2018. Surface Consistent Amplitude Compensation (SCAC) was applied on the seismic data. The Hartha Formation is one of the important formations deposited during Late Campanian age.

The present study deals with four boreholes (EB-53, 54, 55 and 56) within the East Baghdad oil field to diagnoses the microfacies and interpret the depositional environments.

Six major microfacies were recognized in the succession of the Hartha Formation. Their characteristic grain types and depositional texture enabled the recognition of paleoenvironment. There are Orbitoides  wackestone-packstone , Orbitoides - miliolid wackestone, Peloidal and Pellets - echinoderm wackestone to packstone, Peloidal wackestone to packstone, Pelletal wackestone to packstone, and Planktonic foraminifera wackestone-packstone.

     Bai Hassan Oil field is considered one of the important north Iraq oil fields. The giant oil field of Bai-Hassan is located near Kirkuk City in North Iraq. The field consists of two domes (in SE – NW direction) Kithka Dome and Dauod Dome separated by a narrow saddle called Shashal saddle.

The current study is focused on microfacies analysis to interpret the stratigraphic sequence of the Palani Formation (early – lower Oligocene age), Baba, Bajawan and Tarjil Formations (middle Oligocene age).
