This study seeks to investigate Sinan Antoon’s I’jaam (2004) through applying different theoretical frameworks including those of Althusser (1971) and Foucault (1978). Antoon, considered as one of the most internationally recognized Iraqi writers, wrote this dystopian, war novel in Arabic and translated it to English. Antoon’s emphasis placed on literature acting as an oppositional political voice has, in turn, created its own form of censorship inside the fictional world and outside the actual state censorship during Saadm Hossein reign. Thus, particular political messages within literary texts, like I’jaam, have been received with critical attention. The writing culture in Iraq has established an atmosphere in which literary critics and authors have valued specific types of texts that deal with social and political themes. I’jaam’s background reveals how in the twentieth century, the world has become an ever more violent place; the growth of ethnic and sectarian conflicts, the rise of extremist movements and censorship have increasingly trapped people in an unending chaos and violence. For numerous generations, Iraq has been suffering from a long history of war and violence. Accordingly, this paper aims to establish a bond between Althusserian and Foucauldian frameworks in order to analyze war and peace dichotomy and to reflect on such themes that shape the backbone of I’jaam. It is concluded that fulfilling basic human needs such as the sense of justice, freedom of speech and physical and financial security will serve to mitigate desires for revenge among victims and will help to diffuse inter-community tensions.

This work addressed the assignment problem (AP) based on fuzzy costs, where the objective, in this study, is to minimize the cost. A triangular, or trapezoidal, fuzzy numbers were assigned for each fuzzy cost. In addition, the assignment models were applied on linguistic variables which were initially converted to quantitative fuzzy data by using the Yager’sorankingi method. The paper results have showed that the quantitative date have a considerable effect when considered in fuzzy-mathematic models.

Ultraviolet light radiation is applied to treat Plaque Psoriasis disease by targeted phototherapy. This is available through Narrowband-UVB light radiation devices peaked at wavelength 311 nm. Ten cases were chosen as a study group, 8 males aged 22-40 years old, and 2 females aged 25 and 32 years old who were exposed to ultraviolet light radiation. Their recovery or improvement was followed weekly. Different doses were used according to the severity of the lesion and as a trial for the outcome. The dose was given two times a week, starting with 200mJ/cm2, and subsequently increased by 100 or 200 mJ/cm2 reaching a maximum dose as tolerated by each individual patient. The MTX was converted to MTX nanoparticles by the modified method based on changing the pH gradually . For the first time MTX NPs+Meropenem complex were prepared and evaluated as a potential tool to overcome antimicrobial resistance and to improve pharmacokinetics of the drug, the results showed that the antibacterial activity of complex (MTX NPs plus MEM) has increased (from 1( µg/ml) to >0.5( µg/ml) for p1 , from 2( µg/ml) to 1( µg/ml) for p10 and from 8( µg/ml) to 4( µg/ml) for p48).
Abstract
The removal of water turbidity by using crumb rubber filter was investigated .The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of variation of influent water turbidity (10, 25 and 50 NTU), media size (0.6and 1.14mm), filtration rate (25, 45 and 65 l/hr) and bed depth (30 and 60 cm) on the performance of mono crumb rubber filter in response to the effluent filtered water turbidity and head loss development, and compare it with that of conventional sand filter.Results revealed that 25 l/hr flow rate and 25 NTU influent turbidity were the best operating conditions. smaller media size and higher bed depth gave the best removal efficiency while higher media size and small bed depth gave lower head
