Acinetobacter baumannii (A. baumannii ) is considered a critical healthcare problem for patients in intensive care units due to its high ability to be multidrug-resistant to most commercially available antibiotics. The aim of this study is to develop a colorimetric assay to quantitatively detect the target DNA of A. baumannii based on unmodified gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) from different clinical samples (burns, surgical wounds, sputum, blood and urine). The experimental set up is based on very simple and low cost electric components that generate electrical field sufficiently high at the electrodes to ionize various gases, which flow at atmospheric pressure. The high d.c power supply is 7.5kV peak to peak, the frequency of the electrical field is 28kHz, and the plasma power less than 15W. The plasma is generated using only one electrode.    Mitoxantrone is an antitumor agent used in the treatment of breast and prostate cancer, acute leukemia, lymphoma, and also in the treatment of multiple sclerosis due to its immunosuppressive properties. The mitoxantrone's cardiotoxicity is irreversible, dose-dependent, and it may occur years after treatment.
