The guava plant, Psidium guajava L., serves as proof of the abundant donations of nature, providing a delicious guava fruit; this plant is rich in groups of medicinal and nutritional benefits. Guava belonging to the Myrtaceae family, many previous studies reported many phytochemical constituents in its leaves that have many pharmacological activities and medicinal properties; this study focuses on the isolation, structural elucidation and calculation concentration of flavonoids, assessment of the cytotoxic activityof hyperin from Psidium guajava leaves newly cultivated in Iraq. The isolation process involved the use of thin-layer chromatography (TLC) and preparative high-performance liquid chromatography (PHPLC) and structural elucidation involved NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy) and FTIR (Fourier transform infrared spectrometer) for detailed structural insights into 2 isolated flavonoids. The isolation techniques proved effective in obtaining pure samples of hyperin and naringenin from the ethyl acetate and n.butanol fractions and structural elucidation techniques gives a good explanation for 2 isolated flavonoids. Evaluate cytotoxic activity of hyperin flavonoid against prostate cancer cell line (PC-3), human breast cancer cell line (MCF-7) and normal dermal fibroblast neonatal (HdFn), hyperin flavonoid exhibited a decrease in cell viability (%) with IC50 58.9 ?g /mL against the prostate cancer cell and IC50 90.58 ?g /mL against human breast cancer and noncytotoxic to HDFn, with an IC50 value substantially surpassing concentrations of 100 ?g/mL. These analytical approaches provided a comprehensive understanding of the chemical composition of the isolated flavonoids and interpreted that guava has cytotoxic activity against some cancers, depending on a concentration-dependent mode.
This study detects the presence of an important flavonoid "Casticin" in the fruits of Vitex agnus-castus L. grown in Iraq. The pharmaceutical importance of Casticin arise from its consideration as anti-tumor substance and have cytotoxic effects, and the absence of any study concerning Casticin content of this medicinal plant in Iraq, gave this study its importance. This study concerned with the extraction, identification, isolation and purification of Casticin from the fruits of Vitex agnus-castus L. The extraction of this compound was carried out using two methods. Identification of this compound was done by Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) in which three different solvent system has been tried. Ten strains belonged to the genus Halococcus which included Hc. morrhuae Hc. saccharolyticus. Growth curves were sensitive mutants determined for wild type and salt Generation time in logarthmic phase was measured and found to be (10.37 2hr 7 0.59) for Hb. salinarium / 18 (6.490 hr 0.24) for Hb. cutirubrum / 32, (6.700 hr + 0.488) for Hb. valismortis / 20, (11.243 hr + 0.96) for Hb. volcanii / 7. It was conducted in Bint Al-Hoda Hospital of Maternity and Children in Thi-Qar province, south of Iraq for the period from the beginning of January to the end of December 2020. Two hundred and fifty samples were collected from the female genital tract for women whose age ranged between 17-50 years. Microscopic, traditional and molecular tests were used in the sample examination. The results recorded 12 (4.8%) samples infected with T. vaginalis parasite, whereas 130 (52%) samples showed Candida yeast distributed as follows: 75 (30 %) <

Show MoreLithology identification plays a crucial role in reservoir characteristics, as it directly influences petrophysical evaluations and informs decisions on permeable zone detection, hydrocarbon reserve estimation, and production optimization. This paper aims to identify lithology and minerals composition within the Mishrif Formation of the Ratawi Oilfield using well log data from five open hole logs of wells RT-2, RT-4, RT-5, RT-6, and RT-42. At this step, the logging lithology identification tasks often involve constructing a lithology identification model based on the assumption that the log data are interconnected. Lithology and minerals were identified using three empirical methods: Neutron-Density cross plots for lithology id

Additionally, the body develops insulin resistance which affects 90–95% of diabetics. Complex cytokines, receptors, genetic pathways, and the immune system are involved in T2DM. Interleukin-18 (IL-18) is one of the inflammatory cytokines associated with Type 2 diabetes. Environmental and genetic variables, including genetic polymorphisms, can increase T2DM risk and its consequences. Single nucleotide gene polymorphisms (SNPs) are important risk factors for diabetes that can be used to find the disease early and treat it better. Objective This study aimed to determine the levels of IL-18 in the serum of Iraqi patients with Type 2 diabetes

Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were biosynthesized using onion peel extract as the reducing agent. Nanocomposites were fabricated by blending polyacetal/PVP with AuNPs and AgNPs at different ratios. XRD and FESEM characterized the AuNPs and AgNPs. FTIR, FESEM, TGA, and DSC characterized the polyacetal, polymer blends, and nanocomposites. DSC and TGA confirmed the improved thermal stability of the polymer blends and nanocomposites. Nanocomposites demonstrated higher efficacy in inhibiting lung cancer cell lines compared t
