Effect of adding different levels of Ganoderma lucidum to broiler diets on physiological traits and meat oxidation indicators.
...Show More Authors

This study was conducted in the poultry field of the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences / University of Baghdad for the period from 10/15/2021 to 11/25/2021 in order to show the effect of adding different levels of Ganoderma lucidum to broiler diets on physiological traits and indicators of fat oxidation in meat. In it, 200 unsexed (Ross 308) chicks of one-day-old breed were used, with a starting weight of (40) g. The chicks were distributed and randomly divided into four treatments, with 50 birds for each treatment. One treatment included five replicates (10 birds/repeat) and the experiment treatments were T1, T2, T3, and T4. The percentages of adding reishi mushrooms were 0, 0.5, 1, and 1.5 g/kg of feed, respectively. The birds were fed for the duration of the experiment on three rations: the starter ration, the growth diet and the final diet. The results showed a significant increase (P<0.05) in the total protein concentration and globulin concentration for T4 treatment containing reishi mushroom by 1.5 g/kg compared with the control treatment. At the same time, the results indicated a significant decrease (P<0.05) in cholesterol and HDL in the serum of T4-treated birds compared to the control treatment. In addition, the results showed that the addition of reishi mushrooms to the diets in the proportions (1 and 1.5) g/kg led to a significant decrease (P<0.05)) in the concentration of malonaldehyde (MDA) and the value of peroxide in the meat compared with the control treatment after the storage period of 30 days. Keywords: average body weight, weight gain, feed consumed, food conversion ratio, reishi mushrooms, major cuts.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREDATOR BUSH CRICKET, SAGA EPHIPPIGERA FISCHER VON WALDHEIM, 1846 (ORTHOPTERA, TETTIGONIIDAE) FROM ERBIL PROVINCE, KURDISTAN REGION- IRAQ
...Show More Authors

The predatory bush crickets Saga ephippigera Fischer Von Waldheim, 1846 is the largest Iraqi orthopterans and one of the most active and successful predators in the Kurdistan region. The nymphs and adults prey on all the stages of various species of insects. Twelve adult specimens were collected from Erbil Province during May 2018 and June 2021. Morphological structures of the adult insects were described and illustrated in details; important taxonomic characteristics of body regions with their appendages were chosen; and the results indicated the importance of morphological characteristics which confirmed the identification of this species correctly.

Directional fluctuating asymmetry in certain morphological characters as a pollution indicator: Tigris catfish (<i>Silurus triostegus</i>) collected from the Euphrates, Tigris, and Shatt al-Arab Rivers in Iraq
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>The relationship between pollution levels in river sediment and fluctuating asymmetry of resident silurid fish species, Silurus triostegus Heckel, was assessed. Eight bilateral body proportions were analyzed in 1,500 fish from eight river locations. Sediment pollution was measured based on the analysis of heavy metals (Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn) and organochlorine pesticides (DDT, DDD, DDE, chlordane, dieldrin, and lindane). The mean quotient approach (mERMq) was used to characterize sediment toxicity, which ranged from low to moderate levels for heavy metals and from low to severe for organochlorides. Variation was noted in the measurements of fish body mor</p> ... Show More

Detection of human metapneumovirus RNA sequence in nasopharyngeal SWAP sample from children with acute respiratory tract infections in Najaf Province, Iraq
...Show More Authors

The purpose of this subject is to identify what is being studied in the article, which is the involvement of human Metapneumovirus in children with respiratory illnesses. During the period November 2020 to February 2021, 100 patients with respiratory tract infections were admitted to Al Zahra Teaching Hospital and AL-Forat AL-Awsat Teaching Hospital in Najaf Governorate. Nasopharyngeal swabs were collected from patients for molecular diagnosis of human metapneumovirus using Real-Time-PCR. The patients were distributed based on age into five groups as follows (Less than one, 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, and 4-5 years), and twenty samples of healthy individuals were approved as a control group without any clinical signs of infection. the children of age gr

QTAIM study of the bonding in triosmium trihydride cluster [Os3(µ-H)3(µ3-ɳ2-CC7H3(2-CH3)NS)(CO)8]
...Show More Authors

The Atoms in Molecules (AIM) analysis for triosmium cluster, which contains trihydridede, carbon, carbonyl and 2-methylbenzothiazolide ligands, [Os3(µ-H)3(µ3-ɳ2-CC7H3(2-CH3)NS)(CO)8] is reported. Bonding features in this cluster has been analyzed based on QTAIM ("Quantum Theory of Atoms in Molecules") in this work. The topological indices derived from electron density of relevant interactions in triosmium compound have been studied. The major interesting point of the AIM analyses is that the core of part (Os3H3) reveals the absence of any critical points and bond paths connecting any pairs of O

Anew Spectrophotometric Method For The Determination of La (III) With 3-Hydroxy -4-(2-hydroxy –Phenyl azo)Naphthalene -1-Sulfonic Acid
...Show More Authors

A simple, rapid and sensitive spectrophotometric method has been proposed for the determination of La (III) using 3-hydroxy -4-(2-hydroxy-phenyl azo) naphthalene -1- sulfonic acid as a chromogenic reagent. This method is based on the formation of a red-pink colored complex, upon the reaction of La(III) with the reagent in an alkaline medium (pH= 9.50), having a maximum absorbance at 459 nm. Beer's law is valid in the concentration range 0.512 µg.ml-1 with a Sandell's sensitivity value of 0.0188 µg.cm-2 and molar absorptivity of 7376.12 L.mol-1.cm-1. The stoichiometric composition of the chelate is 1:3. The effect of the presence of different cations as interferants in the determination of La(III) under the given optimum conditions wer
