Anticancer Activity of Sunflower (Helianthus annuns L.) Seeds oil against cell lines
...Show More Authors

This study investigated the role of sunflower (Helianthus annuns L.) seed extracts as a cytotoxic agent against two cell lines (RD and L20B) using different concentrations of sunflower seeds oil 1.3 , 2.6 , 5.2, 10.4 , 20.8, 41.6 , 83.2 and 166.4 μg / ml for different exposure time (24 ,48 and 72 hrs). The results revealed a clear cytotxoic activity of sunflower seeds oil on growth of RD cancer cell line, and the effect was concentration-dependent.
The signification inhibition (P<0.05) was obtained at a concentration of 83.5 and 166.4 μg / ml as compared to control. In addition, the growth of RD cell line was more sensitive to sunflower seeds oil in comparison with the growth of L20B transform cell line. In conclusion, the extrac

Construction and Characterization of Organic Solar Cell and Study the Operational Properties
...Show More Authors

This article reviews the construction of organic solar cell (OSC) and characterized their optical and electrical properties, where indium tin oxide (ITO) used as a transparent electrode, “Poly (3-hexylthiophene- 2,5-diyl) P3HT / Poly (9,9-dioctylfluorene-alt-benzothiadiazole) F8BT” as an active layer and “Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-poly (styrene sulfonate)” PEDOT: PSS which is referred to the hole transport layer. Spin coating technique was used to prepared polymers thin film layers under ambient atmosphere to make OSC.  The prepared samples were characterized after annealing process at (80 ͦ C) for (30 min) under non-isolated circumference. The results show a value of filling factor (FF) of (2.888), (0.233) and (0.28

The Cytotoxicity Effect of Pyocyanin on Human Hepatocellular Carcinoma Cell Line (HepG2)
...Show More Authors

Ninety eight specimens were collected from patients referring different hospitals in Baghdad in period from August to November in 2012. Specimens including (swabs from (Sputum, burn, wound, urine, ear, and eye).Sixty six isolates were identified as Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The isolates were identified according to morphological, cultural, biochemical characteristics and API 20E test. 90% of P. aeruginosa isolates produced pyocyanin pigment on King A medium in different amounts, whereas other isolates were produced other types of pigments such as (pyoverdine-yellow, pyorubin-red, and pyomelanin-black) on King B medium and also in different amounts.Quantitative assay of pyocyanin production was conducted. The results were shown that the iso

Pulsed laser deposition of nanostructured CeO2 antireflection coating for silicon solar cell
...Show More Authors

Increasing the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of silicon solar cells by improving their junction properties or minimizing light reflection losses remains a major challenge. Extensive studies were carried out in order to develop an effective antireflection coating for monocrystalline solar cells. Here we report on the preparation of a nanostructured cerium oxide thin film by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) as an antireflection coating for silicon solar cell. The structural, optical, and electrical properties of a cerium oxide nanostructure film are investigated as a function of the number of laser pulses. The X-ray diffraction results reveal that the deposited cerium oxide films are crystalline in nature and have a cubic fluorite. The field

ANTIANGIOGENIC ACTIVITY AND ROS-MEDIATED LUNG CANCER CELL LINE INJURY OF ZERUMBONE
...Show More Authors

Objective: Zerumbone (ZER) is a well-known natural compound that has been reported to have anti-cancer effect. Thus, this study investigated the ZER potential to inhibit Thymidine Phosphorylase (TP) and the ability to trigger Reactive oxygen species (ROS)-mediated cytotoxicity in non-small cell lung cancer, NCI-H460, cell line. Material and Method: The antiangiogenic activity for ZER was evaluated by using the thymidine phosphorylase inhibitory test. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) production was determined via DCFDA dye by using flow cytometry. Result and Discussion: ZER was found to be potent TP inhibitory with the IC50 value of 50.3± 0.31 μg/ml or 230±1.42 µM. NCI-H460 cells upon treatment with ZER produced sign

Fingerprints Identification and Verification Based on Local Density Distribution with Rotation Compensation
...Show More Authors

The fingerprints are the more utilized biometric feature for person identification and verification. The fingerprint is easy to understand compare to another existing biometric type such as voice, face. It is capable to create a very high recognition rate for human recognition. In this paper the geometric rotation transform is applied on fingerprint image to obtain a new level of features to represent the finger characteristics and to use for personal identification; the local features are used for their ability to reflect the statistical behavior of fingerprint variation at fingerprint image. The proposed fingerprint system contains three main stages, they are: (i) preprocessing, (ii) feature extraction, and (iii) matching. The preprocessi

Biometric Identification System Based on Contactless Palm-Vein Using Residual Attention Network
...Show More Authors

Palm vein recognition technology is a one of the most effective biometric technologies for personal identification. Palm acquisition techniques are either contact-based or contactless-based. The contactless-based palm vein system is considered more accurate and efficient when used in modern applications, but it may suffer from problems like pose variations and the delay in the matching process. This paper proposes a contactless-based identification system for palm vein that involves two main steps; First, the central region of the palm is cropped using fast extract region of interest algorithm, then the features are extracted and classified using altered structure of Residual Attention Network, which is a developed version of convolution
