Gravity and magnetic data were used to study the deep crustal structures in Karbala and surrounding areas in central Iraq. The space window method was used to separate the residual from regional anomalies of gravity and magnetic data, the spaces of window are equal to 48,36 and 24 km. The Total Horizontal Derivative (THD) techniques and local wavenumber of gravity and magnetic are used to identify the faults and their trends with the basement rocks.  The N45W, N45E, N-S and rarely E-W trends of faults are detected in the basement rock. It is believed that some of these faults extending from the basement to the uppermost layer of the sedimentary rocks.

The condition of elevated concentrations of ‎triglyceride in ‎the blood is called hypertriglyceridemia, which ‎triggers the onset of some physiological disorder. This study was carried out to find the ‎correlation between body weight and ‎hypertriglyceridemia. ‎Out of 518 cases, 342 individuals were underweight, with body ‎mass index (BMI) values of ≤18, while their mean ‎serum triglyceride level was 172.4 ± 25.2mg/dl. The target of this study was to study the natural phytochemical components of the head (capsule) of Cynara scolymus cultivated in Iraq. The head (capsule) of plant was extracted by maceration in70% ethanol for 72 hours, and fractioned by hexane, chloroform and ethyl acetate. Preliminary qualitative phytochemical screening was performed on the ethyl acetate fraction for capsule was revealed the presence of flavonoid and aromatic acids. This study was aimed to investigate the iron overload effect on the levels of ferritin, testosterone, follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH) and prolactin (PRL) in male patients with β-thalassemia. Blood levels of sex hormones and ferritin were determined in (50 males) beta-thalassemia patients, aged (16-23) years and in (30) healthy males matched for age. They were recruited from the Abin Al-Balady Hospital in Baghdad. Ichroma™ kits were used to determine the blood levels of sex hormones and ferritin. The results showed that the level of testosterone, LH and FSH were significantly (p≤ 0.05) lower in β-thalassemia male patients compared to controls.
