Bruggeman's symmetric effective-medium model of vanadium oxide is introduced, in which the transmittance was studied because of its importance in the subject of smart windows, it was studied from ( 5 nm-1000 nm) for each of the regions of the electromagnetic spectrum, the ultraviolet and visible region, and the near and medium sub-regions of the infrared and the results showed that the importance of studying the transmittance of vanadium oxide as a good candidate For this kind of industries. Our results showed that the small sizes of the material guarantee an almost constant and high transmittance to the visible region; this is due to the agreement of the direction of the dipoles in the material with the direction of the internal electric field, which leads to an increase in the value of the refractive index. The refractive index represents the gain in the permittivity of the material presented by Bruggeman's model. For the other regions where the transmittance is not desirable, it can be controlled by the film’s size of the transmittance on the one hand and the wavelength on the other hand.
Heat transfer performance of two horizontal parallel plates subjected to discrete heating from the upper plate is studied and analyzed under the condition of different gap size between the heating elements with water as the working fluid. The investigation includes the variation of Reynolds number and the heat flux along with the position of the heating elements to discover the effect of different boundary conditions on the gap size variation. Results show that gap size between the heating elements has a crucial impact on the heat transfer process inside the channel, when the gap size increased a remarkable enhancement is achieved. This result is also confirmed with the investigated range of Reynolds number and the heating value. Results al

An experimental investigation has been done to understand the behaviors of nano and micro materials on critical heat flux. Pool boiling experiments have used for several concentrations of nano and micro particles on a 0.4 mm diameter nickel chrome (Ni-Cr) wire heater which is heated electrically at atmospheric pressure. Zinc oxide(ZnO) and silica(SiO2) were used as a nano and micro fluids with concentrations (0.01,0.05,0.1,0.3,0.5,1 g/L), a marked enhancement in CHF have been shown in the results for nano and micro fluids for different concentrations compared to distilled water. The deposition of the nano particles on the heater surface was the rea

Show MoreA detailed experimental study was devoted to the anodic oxidation of oxalic acid using manganese dioxide rotating cylinder anode with the objective to evaluate in a systematic way the effect on the oxalic acid oxidation process of several relevant parameters, including the presence of sodium chloride, the current density (J), the rotation speed, the temperature, and the initial concentration of oxalic acid. Thin manganese dioxide film on graphite substrate has been prepared by electrochemical oxidation from MnSO4-H2SO4 electrolyte. The morphology of this electrode was investigated by XRD, SEM, EDS and AFM techniques. The results show that a firm γ-structure of MnO2 film on graphite rod can be obtained successfully. The results indicate tha

The increasing demand for durable and sustainable construction materials has led to increased attention in modifying cementitious materials through nanotechnology. This study investigates the influence of nano-silica (NS) and nano-alumina (NA) on the physical, strength-related, and durability characteristics of cement mortar to determine the optimum nanomaterial type and dosage for performance enhancement. Six mortar mixes, in addition to a reference mix, were designed and prepared by adding 1%, 1.5%, and 2% of the cement weight with NS and NA separately, an

The effect of increasing of germanium content (x) in sulfide films on the electrical properties like d.c conductivity (σDC), concentration of charge carriers (nH) and the activation energy (Ea) and Hall effect were investigated. The measurements show that (Ea) increases with the increasing of germanium content from 0.1to0.2 while it get to reduces with further addition, while charge carrier density (nH) is found to decrease and increase respectively with germanium content. The results were explained in terms of creating and eliminating of states in the band gap
The electrical properties of polycrystalline cadmium telluride thin films of different thickness (200,300,400)nm deposited by thermal evaporation onto glass substrates at room temperature and treated at different annealing temperature (373, 423, 473) K are reported. Conductivity measurements have been showed that the conductivity increases from 5.69X10-5 to 0.0011, 0.0001 (?.cm)-1 when the film thickness and annealing temperature increase respectively. This increasing in ?d.c due to increasing the carrier concentration which result from the excess free Te in these films.
Thin films of the blended solution of (NiPc/C60) on glass substrates were prepared by spin-coated method for three different ratios (100/1, 100/10 and 100/100). The effects of annealing temperature and C60 concentration on the optical properties of the samples were studied using the UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy and FTIR spectra. The optical absorption spectrum consists of two main bands, Q and B band, with maxima at about (602-632) nm and (700-730) nm for Q1 and Q2 respectively, and (340-375) nm for B band. The optical energy gap were determined from optical absorption spectra, The variation of optical energy gap with annealing temperature was nonsystematic and this may be due to the improvement in crystal structure for thin films. The results show that the increasing of sulfide content (x)and annealing temperature lead to decrease the d.c conductivity σDC of and concentration of charge carriers (nH) but increases the activation energy (Ea1,Ea2), while the increasing of t increases σDC and nH but decrease (Ea1,Ea2). Compounds from ZnO doped with AgO in different ratio (0,3,5,7, and 9)wt.% were prepared.Thin films from the prepared compounds were deposited on a glass substrate using the pulsed laser deposition method. The XRD pattern confirmed the presence of a single-phase hexagonal wurtzite ZnO structure, without the presence of a secondary phase. AFM measurements showed an increase in both average grain size and average surface roughness with increasing concentration content of (AgO).The crystallite size of ZnO of the main peak corresponding to the preferred plane of crystal growth named (100) increases from 17.8 to 22.5nm by increasing of AgO doping ratio from 0 to 9%.
