SPATIOTEMPORAL ANALYSIS FOR FIGHTING COVID-19 IN IRAQ
...Show More Authors

At the end of 2019, a new form of Coronavirus (later dubbed COVID-19) emerged in China and quickly spread to other regions of the globe. Despite the virus’s unique and unknown characteristics, it is a widely distributed infectious illness. Finding the geographical distribution of the virus transmission is therefore critical for epidemiologists and governments in order to respond to the illness epidemic rapidly and effectively. Understanding the dynamics of COVID-19’s spatial distribution can help to understand the pandemic’s scope and effects, as well as decision-making, planning, and community action aimed at preventing transmission. The main focus of this study is to investigate the geographic patterns of COVID-19 dissemination in Iraq from May 1 to July 29, 2021. The analysis was primarily based on using spatial analysis tools such as standard deviational ellipse (SDE) with in GIS environment, in addition to incidence rates calculations. The results revealed that the direction of COVID-19 spread is NW-SE. Furthermore, the findings showed that the rate of COVID-19 infections is greater at the middle and south of Iraq. This may aid decision-makers in identifying priority areas for emergency efforts.

The Jurassic and Deep Structures Inferred from Gravity Data Depending on Stripping Technique for The Uppermost Layers in Central and Southern Iraq
...Show More Authors

The gravity anomalies of the Jurassic and deep structures were obtained by stripping the gravity effect of Cretaceous and Tertiary formations from the available Bouguer gravity map in central and south Iraq. The gravity effect of the stripped layers was determined depending on the density log or the density density obtained from the sonic log. The density relation with the seismic velocity of Gardner et al (1974) was used to obtain density from sonic logs in case of a lack of density log. The average density of the Cretaceous and Tertiary formation were determined then the density contrast of these formations was obtained. The density contrast and thickness of all stratigraphic formations in the area between the sea level to t

Sedimentology and Lithostratigraphy of the Pila Spi Formation in Koi Sanjaq area, NE Iraq; New insight for depositional Environment and Basin Configuration
...Show More Authors

The Pila Spi formation composed of seven lithotypes; carbonates (dolomite and
dolomitic limestone), marl, shale/claystone, red argillaceous mudstone, sandstone,
carbonate breccias and debris flow, which are arranged in repeated cycles of mixed
siliciclastic-calciturbidites in a range of gravity-flow regime in the Koi Sanjaq area.
Sedimentologic and facies evidences suggest developed marine environment for the
Pila Spi Formation. Facies analysis and associated sedimentary structures including
graded beddings decide turbidity and gravity flow regime origin of the rocks.
Marine environment is supported by the identifying glauconite and fossils types,
which is reported here for the first time rather than lagoon enviro

Laboratory Study for Biodegradation of Oxymatrine Insecticide by Single and Mixed Cultures of Fungi Isolated from Agriculture Soils in Basrah Governorate, Iraq
...Show More Authors

This study focuses on the biodegradation of oxymatrine insecticide by some soil fungi isolated from four agriculture stations. The results showed that the highest degradation rate 94.66% was recorded by Ulocladium sp. at 10 days and A. niger recorded the lowest degradation rate 45.86%, while at 20 days Ulocladium sp. also showed the highest degradation rate 94.98% and the lowest degradation rate reached to 82.49% with A.niger. The mix (Exerohilum sp.+Ulocladium sp.) recorded the highest degradation rate of oxymatrine insecticide 90.22%, 88.51%, 85.34%  at 4, 8 and 12 ppm.The use of mixed isolates enhanced the biodegradation process. There is no study of oxymatrine biodegradation

This research represents a 3D seismic structural study for 602.62 Km2 of Dujaila
Oil Field which is located 55 Km Northwest of Mysan province and 20 Km Southwest
of Ali-AlSharki region within unstable Mesopotamian basin.
Synthetic traces are prepared by using available data of two wells (Du-1, Du-2), in
order to define and pick the reflectors. Two reflectors are picked that represent the top
and bottom of Mishrif Formation, in addition to five units within this Formation are
picked, they named Units 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Time maps for the top and bottom of Mishrif reflectors are drawn to get the
structural picture, these maps show general dip of layers toward NE, and thus, there
are two enclosure domes in the midd

New Record of the Bottle Liverworts Sphaerocarpos Donnellii Aust. for Iraq and Middle East Countries
...Show More Authors

The Order Sphaerocarpales of the bottle liverwort consists of five genera, among which Sphaerocarpos in turn consists of  8-9 species. The genus is nearly worldwide distributed, but disjunct, sporadic, and localized throughout the range in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, and Australia. According to the published checklist, only two species of Sphaerocarpos were recorded in the middle east countries. These are S. texanus and S. michelii, both were found in Turkey, while only the latter was found in Iraq. By the current study, an additional species, S. donnellii, will be added to the byroflora of the Middle East (south west Asia) region. A specimen of this s
