ZnS nanoparticles were prepared by a simple microwave irradiation method under mild condition. The starting materials for the synthesis of ZnS quantum dots were zinc acetate (R & M Chemical) as zinc source, thioacetamide as a sulfur source and ethylene glycol as a solvent. All chemicals were analytical grade products and used without further purification. The quantum dots of ZnS with cubic structure were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), the morphology of the film is seen by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The particle size is determined by field effect scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), UV-Visible absorption spectroscopy and XRD. UV-Visible absorption spectroscopy analysis shows that the absorption peak of the as-prepared ZnS sample (310 nm) displays a blue-shift comparing to the bulk ZnS (345 nm). Photoluminescence spectra of the samples revealed a broad peak centered at 404nm, which were related to excitonic emission. Photocatalytic degradation of Methylene Blue (MB) dye catalyzed by synthesized nanoparticles was studied under solar radiation, photocatalytic degradation increased with increasing time exposure to solar light.
The esterification reaction of ethyl alcohol and acetic acid catalyzed by the ion exchange resin, Amberlyst 15, was investigated. The experimental study was implemented in an isothermal batch reactor. Catalyst loading, initial molar ratio, mixing time and temperature as being the most effective parameters, were extensively studied and discussed. A maximum final conversion of 75% was obtained at 70°C, acid to ethyl alcohol mole ratio of 1/2 and 10 g catalyst loading. Kinetic of the reaction was correlated with Langmuir-Hanshelwood model (LHM). The total rate constant and the adsorption equilibrium of water as a function of the temperature was calculated. The activation energies were found to be as 113876.9 and -49474.95 KJ per Kmol of ac

The characterization of these nanoparticles was performed using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and photoluminance spectroscopy (PL). FTIR spectra confirmed the formation of vibrational bonds for ZnO NPs and AZO NPs. SEM images illustrated that the size and shape of the NPs changed with changing the number of laser pulses. Photoluminescence peaks exhibited two emission peaks, one at the UV region and the second in the visible region, which were modified as the number of laser pulses and doping concentration were ch

The scanning electron microscope images showed that the CdS thin film onto Si substrate is more homogenous without vacancies. The XRD patterns of the CdS nanocrystalline thin film confirm that they have polycrystalline with cubic phase. Room temperature photoluminescence (PL) spectrum of the CdS nanocrystalline thin films shows emission band located at 502nm for CdS/Si sample while the CdS/ITO-glass thin films shows a broad emission band peaked at 505nm. The Raman spectra of CdS nanocrystalline thin films prepared onto Si and ITO-glass substrates contain two main peaks which are corresponding to the firs

... Show MoreThree new hydrazone derivatives of Etodolac were synthesized and evaluated for their anti-inflammatory activity by using egg white induced paw edema method. All the synthesized target compounds were characterized by CHN- microanalysis, FT-IR spectroscopy, and 1HNMR analysis. The synthesis of the target (P1-P3) compounds was accomplished following multistep reaction procedures. The synthesized target compounds were found to be active in reducing paw edema thickness and their anti-inflammatory effect was comparable to that of the standard (Etodolac).
X-ray phase analysis was used to analyse the composition of Pb8Na(2±x)(PO4)6 (lead-sodium apatite structure) with different X values (X values refer to changes in the excess or lack of sodium (2±X) in the apatite structure): -0.15, -0.10, -0.05, 0.00, +0.05, +0.10, and +0.15. The ceramic method (solid-state reaction) was used to synthesize all samples at a temperature of 800 °C. Many programs, such as match software (v.3), PDF-4 database (ICCD), and database PDF-4 (ASTM), were used to study the single phases. The least-squares method was used to calculate the unit cell parameters. Results have shown that the following compositions: Pb8Na2(PO4)6<
