A comparison between PCA and some enhancement filters for denoising astronomical images
...Show More Authors

This paper includes a comparison between denoising techniques by using statistical approach, principal component analysis with local pixel grouping (PCA-LPG), this procedure is iterated second time to further improve the denoising performance, and other enhancement filters were used. Like adaptive Wiener low pass-filter to a grayscale image that has been degraded by constant power additive noise, based on statistics estimated from a local neighborhood of each pixel. Performs Median filter of the input noisy image, each output pixel contains the Median value in the M-by-N neighborhood around the corresponding pixel in the input image, Gaussian low pass-filter and Order-statistic filter also be used. Experimental results shows LPG-PCA method gives better performance, especially in image fine structure preservation, compared with other general denoising algorithms.

The Use of Cubic Bezier Interpolation, Biorthogonal Wavelet and Quadtree Coding to Compress Color Images
...Show More Authors

In this paper, an efficient method for compressing color image is presented. It allows progressive transmission and zooming of the image without need to extra storage. The proposed method is going to be accomplished using cubic Bezier surface (CBI) representation on wide area of images in order to prune the image component that shows large scale variation. Then, the produced cubic Bezier surface is subtracted from the image signal to get the residue component. Then, bi-orthogonal wavelet transform is applied to decompose the residue component. Both scalar quantization and quad tree coding steps are applied on the produced wavelet sub bands. Finally, adaptive shift coding is applied to handle the remaining statistical redundancy and attain e

Automatic Segmentation and Identification of Abnormal Breast Region in Mammogram Images Based on Statistical Features
...Show More Authors

Breast cancer is one of the most common malignant diseases among women;
Mammography is at present one of the available method for early detection of
abnormalities which is related to breast cancer. There are different lesions that are
breast cancer characteristic such as masses and calcifications which can be detected
trough this technique. This paper proposes a computer aided diagnostic system for
the extraction of features like masses and calcifications lesions in mammograms for
early detection of breast cancer. The proposed technique is based on a two-step
procedure: (a) unsupervised segmentation method includes two stages performed
using the minimum distance (MD) criterion, (b) feature extraction based on Gray

Efficient method to Recognition of Anemia Images based on Moment Invariants and Decision tree classifier
...Show More Authors

Anemia is one of the common types of blood diseases, it lead to lack of number of RBCs (Red Blood Cell) and amount hemoglobin level in the blood is lower than normal.
In this paper a new algorithm is presented to recognize Anemia in digital images based on moment variant. The algorithm is accomplished using the following phases: preprocessing, segmentation, feature extraction and classification (using Decision Tree), the extracted features that are used for classification are Moment Invariant and Geometric Feature.
The Best obtained classification rates was 84% is obtained when using Moment Invariants features and 74 % is obtained when using Geometric Feature. Results indicate that the proposed algorithm is very effective in detect

New multispectral images classification method based on MSR and Skewness implementing on various sensor scenes
...Show More Authors

A new features extraction approach is presented based on mathematical form the modify soil ratio (MSR) and skewness for numerous environmental studies. This approach is involved the investigate on the separation of features using frequency band combination by ratio to estimate the quantity of these features, and it is exhibited a particular aspect to determine the shape of features according to the position of brightness values in a digital scenes, especially when the utilizing the skewness. In this research, the marginal probability density function G(MSR) derivation for the MSR index is corrected, that mentioned in several sources including the source (Aim et al.). This index can be used on original input features space for three diffe

The digital image with  the wavelet tools  is increasing nowadays with MATLAB library, by using  this method based on invariant moments which are  a set of seven moments can be derived from the second and third moments , which can be calculated after converting the image from colored map to gray scale , rescale the image to (512 * 512 ) pixel , dividing the image in to four equal pieces (256 * 256 ) for each piece , then for gray scale image  ( 512 * 512 ) and the four pieces (256 * 256  ) calculate  wavelet with moment and invariant moment, then  store  the result with the author ,owner for this image to build data base for the original image to decide the authority of these images by u

Some Estimation methods for the two models SPSEM and SPSAR for spatially dependent data
...Show More Authors

ABSTRUCT

In This Paper, some semi- parametric spatial models were estimated, these models are, the semi – parametric spatial error model (SPSEM), which suffer from the problem of spatial errors dependence, and the semi – parametric spatial auto regressive model (SPSAR). Where the method of maximum likelihood was used in estimating the parameter of spatial error          ( λ ) in the model (SPSEM), estimated  the parameter of spatial dependence ( ρ ) in the model ( SPSAR ), and using the non-parametric method in estimating the smoothing function m(x) for these two models, these non-parametric methods are; the local linear estimator (LLE) which require finding the smoo

A Comparison of Mishrif Formation Characteristics in Kumait and Dujaila Oil Fields, Southern Iraq, Using Seismic Inversion Method and Petrophysical Properties Analysis
...Show More Authors

A comparison was conducted between two wells, Kt-1and Kt-2, in Kumait and two wells, Du-1and Du-2, in Dujaila oil fields that belong to Mishrif formation, southern Iraq.  Seismic inversion method was employed to detect oil and water reservoirs. The comparison included the behavior of acoustic impedance (AI) of fluids and the lithology with related petrophysical properties. The values of water saturation, Shale volume (Vsh), and effective porosity were compared between the AI,  two fluid reservoirs. It was found that the AI value for the oil reservoir unit is relatively low to medium, whereas it was relatively medium for the water reservoir. Effective porosity value showed, in general, an increase in the oil reservoir and

Comparison of Hurst exponent estimation methods
...Show More Authors

Through recent years many researchers have developed methods to estimate the self-similarity and long memory parameter that is best known as the Hurst parameter. In this paper, we set a comparison between nine different methods. Most of them use the deviations slope to find an estimate for the Hurst parameter like Rescaled range (R/S), Aggregate Variance (AV), and Absolute moments (AM), and some depend on filtration technique like Discrete Variations (DV), Variance versus level using wavelets (VVL) and Second-order discrete derivative using wavelets (SODDW) were the comparison set by a simulation study to find the most efficient method through MASE. The results of simulation experiments were shown that the performance of the meth

This study consists of two parts, field and experimental. In field part; cadmium concentrations were measured in soil and parsley Petroselinum crispum samples of five different agricultural areas in Baghdad city. These areas were located in Al-Rashdiah, Tounis quarter, Al-Shamasiah quarter, Al-Itaifiah and Al-Twaithah. Soil cadmium concentrations were (1.72, 1.25, 1.52, 3.45 and 3.33) mg/kg in Al- Rashdiya, Tunis quarter, Al- Shamasiya quarter, Al- Attaifiya and Al-Tuaithah respectively, while concentrations in parsley were (0.28, 0.26, 0.28, 0.39 and 0.38) mg/kg respectively. Experimentally, five groups of albino mice males (10 mice each) were administered with different concentrations of cadmium (0.0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 7.5) mg Cd/kg
