In Vivo and In Vitro Study of the Genetic Effects of Cabergoline Drug

This study aimed to stand on genetic effects important of cabergoline drug. This toxic effect was evaluated for three different doses (0.05, 0.1, 0.5 mg/ml) in comparison with control (PBS/ phosphate buffer saline) both in vivo and in vitro. In vivo study involved the cytogenetic evaluation of cabergoline in mice by examination of mitotic index percentage (MI), micronucleus formation (MN) and chromosomal aberrations. Result indicated that all the tested doses cause significant reduction in MI percentage, while significant rise was seen with both MN formation and all studied chromosomal aberrations.      The water quality index was used for the evaluation of the quality of water, as well its impacts on the rotifer abundance, in the Tigris River as it passes through Mishahda City, northern Baghdad. Five sites were selected and samples were collected during October 2019 to September 2020. It was noticed that the index values in most sites have exceeded the upper limits of river waters. The values ranged from 40 (Poor) to 45 (Marginal) in all sites. While, the values were from 42 (Poor) to 65 (Fair) during different seasons.      Unknown subsurface leaking water sources and possible subsurface seepage from a sewage tank in a garden at Al-Khawarizmi engineering college, University of Baghdad, were detected in this study. The 2D electrical resistivity imaging. The ERI survey is carried out along two lines, 60m and 50m long, with an electrode spacing of 1 m, forming a cross using the Wenner-Schlumberger array configuration. Line 1 is 60m, while line 2 is 50m. This study was conducted to investigate the presence of Staphylococcus aureus in the red and white meat available in local markets. They were selected ten samples of red and white meat randomly (Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Brazil) from different markets in Baghdad, and the results of reading the nutrition facts of media indication card showed that all models confirm to the Iraqi standard quality in terms of scanning all data of the media indication card, except for the birds of Bayader, where the date of expire & production date of the product was not mentioned. Also, the results of the study showed that there is no Staphylococcus aureus in local red and white meat as well as imported.

Molecular Detection of Some β-lactamases Genes in Uropathogenic Escherichia coli

Around fifty Escherichia coli isolates were isolated from sixty midstream urine specimens collected from patients visiting hospitals in Baghdad city. Approximately, 52% of all isolates were identified as extended spectrum beta lactamases (ESBL) producer. Results demonstrated that 92% of these isolates were sensitive to carbapenems. Only four β-lactamase coding genes were detected; blaTEM, blaPER, blaVIM and blaCTX-M-2. As a conclusion, this work revealed that local E. coli isolates harboured ESBL coding genes which may contribute in its pathogenicity.

Detection of some heavy metals and bacterial contamination in canned vegetables

In this paper, thirty six samples of canned vegetables were collected randomly from
different markets in Baghdad city from October 2013 till March 2014. The study
includes identifying the concentration of some heavy metals (lead, nickel, zinc and iron)
by flameless atomic absorption spectrophotometery. It was found that the higher
concentrations of heavy metals in canned vegetables, was lead 1.179 ppm in olive,
nickel 0.9078 ppm in olive, while zinc 10.143 ppm green peas and iron 90.601ppm in
white asparagus; but the lower concentrations represents with lead 0.0021 ppm in green
asparagus, nickel 0.0202 ppm in mushroom, while zinc 0.528 ppm in white asparagus
