GENETIC RESISTANCE OF AWASSI SHEEP INFECTED WTH HAEMONCIIUS CONTORTUS ; A. THE EFFECT OF NUTRITION LEVEL ON PRODUCTION TRAITS .
...Show More Authors

Twenty Awassi sheep were divided to two groups , the first fed on high level of nutrition and the other fed low level of nutrition . Each group was divided to two groups , the first infected with 500 larvae/Kg body weight of Haemonchus contortus and the second was used as a control .

Weight gain , wool production , feed conversion efficiency and egg/G.. were recorded weekly for 13 weeks post infection .All production Traits of low level nutrition group were more effected than high level nutrition group , and these results revealed highly significant (P<0.001) effect of nutrition level on genetic resistance .

There were significant (P<0.05) effect of nutrition treatment interaction on E.P.G. weight gain , feed conversi

One hundred and fifty stool sampling were collected from clinical sources responsible of causing diarrhea in adults as well as children. The identification of Aeromonas hydrophila isolates depended on common methods of identification dependent on biochemical characteristics and culture, then vitek2 compact system was used. Eight Aeromonas hydrophila isolates were gained and revealed various productivity of metalloprotease; the isolate number 8 was the maximum effective in metalloprotease production. The eight isolates were examined with Polymerase Chain Reaction to prove enzyme gene presence, the results revealed that all isolates were positive for ahMP genes; metalloprotease was comple

In order to investigate the in vitro antitumor activity of Datura stramonium seeds on cancer cell lines. Extract of this plant was prepared by using different concentrations of seed extract 3, 3.25, 3.5, 3.75, 4, 4.25, 4.5, 4.75 and 5 mg/ ml. Cytotoxicity was estimated on mammary adenocarcinoma (AMN3), brain cancer, and normal rat embryonic fibroblast (Ref3) cell lines. The results exhibited that the extract has cytotoxic effect by decreasing the viability of AMN3 (42.91%) and brain cell lines (32.79%). However, it produced little effect on viability of normal cell line Ref3, indicating the specificity of this extract against malignant cells

These samples were tested by Enzyme Linked Immuno Sorbant Assay ELISA test to determine the relationship between them. The results showed that ELISA test was more sensitivities than Haemagglutination inhibition HI test in determination of rubella specific antibodies, so it is better than HI test in measuring the immune-status of individuals vaccinated with rubella vaccine and there was a positive relationship between ELISA test and HI test and was detected (r= 0.585).

Results showed that the 2nd group gave the quickest and the best response in the treatment. This could be explained that the use of corticosteroid assisted the triclabendazole in preventing immune damage and fibroplasias inflicted by the l

THE VAGINAL EXFOLIATIVE CYTOLOGY OF AWASSI EWES DURING POST-PARTURIENT PERIOD
...Show More Authors

This trail was carried out on twelve Awassi ewes in the Animal Farm of College of Veterinary Medicine in June 2005 to study the cellular changes that occur in the vaginal epithelium after parturition, by using vaginal smear method. The post-parturient period was divided into three periods; 4th, 16th and 28th days after parturition. Each period presented different sizes of vaginal epithelial cells, some of them were predominant. Keratinization takes place in all periods. The 2nd period was characterized by cellular division, presence of vacuolated epithelial cells and WBCs mainly neutrophils cells. The conclusion, variations in the vaginal epithelium may relate to the physiological status and the hormonal activity of the animals.
