In this study, four sampling stations were selected from two locates on the
Tigris river (Baghdad region) and others on the Euphrates river (Al-Anbar
Governorate) in order to determine concentrations, seasonal variation and pollution
intensity assessment of heavy metals (Ni, Cu, Pb, Mn and Cd) in the two rivers
sediments. Distribution of studied metals showed that stations in the Tigris river
generally had higher concentrations than stations in Euphrates river. Manganese was

In this paper, an modify minimum eigen values technique is introduced to detect
edge points and outline the boundaries of objects within an image. The presented
edge method is performed by utilizing 3×3 and 5×5 windows, and counting the
eigenvalues within each. The minimum eigen value then adopted to replace the
window's center which finally produces an image. Two types of image samples were
used to test the propused method. Sobel type of edge detection then was applied and
the results were better in edge detection obviously.

Adult and nymph stages of German cockroaches Blatilla germanica were infested with two entomopathogenic nematodes, Steinernema carpocapsae and Heterorhabditis bacteriophora in vitro at 15, 20, 25o C. Results showed that S. carpocapsae was more virulent than H. bacteriophora at all temperatures over the exposure times of 24, 48 and 72 h. Infection of nymphs by S. carpocapsae at 20o C caused 100% mortality after 72h and 100% mortality of adults at 25 o C after 72h. Reproduction of S. carpocapsae significantly increased at 25o C after 72 h compared to H. bacteriophora.

Results of laboratory investigation in larvae of common carp fish , Cyprinus carpio exposed to Sumicidin ,Fenvalerate, and its residue, normally used as air sprays to control insects, that this insecticide was toxic to fish larvae. A new verification scheme, which deals with this problem, is presented. A new feature extractor set is introduced. This research explores best sets of feature extraction techniques and studies the accuracy and speed of the suggested procedures. The study included 176 patients attended to Iben AL-Haithem hospital of ophthalmology in Baghdad city , at age of (14-77) years from the period from September 2016-April 2017, there were 138(78%) patients having a positive culture of ocular bacterial infections. Men were representing 41% while women 59%, the patients with bacterial ocular infection from Baghdad were55% while the internally displaced were 45% , the patients with ocular bacterial infections were representing 20% at mean age of 21.6±0.3y, 26% at 37.5±0.21y , 24% at53.5±0.23 y and 30% at69.5±0.10 y. The results showed 37% of the patients with ocular bacterial infections were having a history of diabetes mellitus and 44% with high blood pressure at mean age of 69.5±0.10

Object detection in real time is considered as a challenging problem. However, it is very important in a wide range of applications, especially in field of multimedia. The players and ball are the most important objects in soccer game videos and detecting them is a challenging task because of many difficulties, such as shadow and illumination, ball size, ball occluded by players or merged with lines, and similar appearance of players. To overcome these problems, we present a new system to detect the players and ball in real-time by using background subtraction and Sobel detection. The results were more accurate and approximately two times faster than those using only background subtraction.

Raw milk is subjected to various physical, chemical and biological pollutants due to produce, a transporting and marketing processes. The current study was designed to examine raw milk samples which were collected from different locations of Iraq. The highest mean value of Pb content [1.801±0.311 ppm] was recorded while the lowest mean value [0.941±0.104 ppm]. The highest mean value [1.532±0.124 ppm] and gave the lowest mean value [0.063±0.044 ppm] of Cd content. This study has the highest mean value of Cu content was [0.931±0.092 ppm] and but the lowest mean value was [0.308±0.029 ppm]. Metals contents of raw milk in this study showed higher than standards of the International Dairy Federation [IDF].

The study area lies in the northern part of Iraq, This study depends on one scene of Thematic Mapper (TM5) data of Landsat, these data are subset by using region of interest (ROI) file within the ERDAS 9.2 software. Reactive arthritis (ReA) has been as joint developing after infection, it belongs to spongylo arthritis (SpA). The etiology of this disease was multi factorial, the combination between genetic and environmental factors for triggering this disease. This study included 75 Iraqi Arab patients and 39 healthy control. Urine samples and blood were collected from each subject. The results showed that Escherichia coli bacteria (E. coli) was isolated from 32% of urine samples. HLA-B*27 allele frequencies was higher in ReA patients infected with E. coli. This lead to suggest that E. coli may be trigger factor in ReA patients with UTI which had HLA-B*27 positive.

Fifteen samples were collected from recent sediments grouping at 80 km east Samawa City, southern Iraq. Three selected samples for grain size analysis and twelve samples for chemical and biofacies analysis. Grain size analysis indicated that the sediment is mainly composed of the silt and clay with a small amount of sand. Most of the samples considered to be as clayey silt. The dominated non clay minerals are Quartz, Calcite, and Dolomite, while the clay minerals are composed of mixed Montmorillonite- Chlorite, Palygorskite, Illite and Kaolinite. In this paper, Bayes estimators for the shape and scale parameters of Gamma distribution under the Entropy loss function have been obtained, assuming Gamma and Exponential priors for the shape and scale parameters respectively. Moment, Maximum likelihood estimators and Lindley’s approximation have been used effectively in Bayesian estimation. Based on Monte Carlo simulation method, those estimators are compared depending on the mean squared errors (MSE’s). The results show that, the performance of the Bayes estimator under Entropy loss function is better than other estimates in all cases.

     The inorganic phosphate content and antioxidant activity of fresh fruit juices and canned fruit juices commonly consumed in Bahrain were compared. The fruits considered in this study were kiwi, guava, black grape, strawberry, apple, and pineapple. The inorganic phosphate content of the juices was determined by a colorimetric method using a UV/VIS spectrophotometer.
