3D Model Watermarking based on Wavelet Transform
...Show More Authors

In the last decade, 3D models gained interest in many applications, such as games, the medical field, and manufacture. It is necessary to protect these models from unauthorized copying, distribution, and editing. Digital watermarking is the best way to solve this problem. This paper introduces a robust watermarking method by embedding the watermark in the low-frequency domain, then selecting the coarsest level for embedding the watermark based on the strength factor. The invisibility of the watermark for the proposed algorithm is tested by using different measurements, such as HD and PSNR. The robustness was tested by using different types of attacks; the correlation coefficient was applied for the evaluati

Power-Efficient Virtual Machine Placement in Cloud Datacenters using Heuristic Assisted Enhanced Discrete Particle Swarm Optimization
...Show More Authors

The increase in cloud computing services and the large-scale construction of data centers led to excessive power consumption. Datacenters contain a large number of servers where the major power consumption takes place. An efficient virtual machine placement algorithm is substantial to attain energy consumption minimization and improve resource utilization through reducing the number of operating servers. In this paper, an enhanced discrete particle swarm optimization (EDPSO) is proposed. The enhancement of the discrete PSO algorithm is achieved through modifying the velocity update equation to bound the resultant particles and ensuring feasibility. Furthermore, EDPSO is assisted by two heuristic algorithms random first fit (RFF) a

The Use of Wavelet, DCT & Quadtree for Images Color Compression
...Show More Authors

The need for image compression is always renewed because of its importance in reducing the volume of data; which in turn will be stored in less space and transferred more quickly though the communication channels.
In this paper a low cost color image lossy color image compression is introduced. The RGB image data is transformed to YUV color space, then the chromatic bands U & V are down-sampled using dissemination step. The bi-orthogonal wavelet transform is used to decompose each color sub band, separately. Then, the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) is used to encode the Low-Low (LL) sub band. The other wavelet sub bands are coded using scalar Quantization. Also, the quad tree coding process was applied on the outcomes of DCT and

Comparative Study between Classical and Fuzzy Filters for Removing Different Types of Noise from Digital Images
...Show More Authors

The aim of this paper is to compare between classical and fuzzy filters for removing different types of noise in gray scale images. The processing used consists of three steps. First, different types of noise are added to the original image to produce a noisy image (with different noise ratios). Second, classical and fuzzy filters are used to filter the noisy image. Finally, comparing between resulting images depending on a quantitative measure called Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) to determine the best filter in each case.
The image used in this paper is a 512 * 512 pixel and the size of all filters is a square window of size 3*3. Results indicate that fuzzy filters achieve varying successes in noise reduction in image compared to

The degree of genetic divergence was estimated in six Iraqi soft wheat genotypes,
four exotic genotypes, one produced by hybridization and one produced by gamma
irradiation, through random amplified polymorphic DNA methodology. A total of
42 DNA fragments were generated by the 3 random primers, with an average of
about 7.4 bands per primer. The 42 fragments showed polymorphism among the six
wheat genotypes. Jaccard similarity matrix ranged from 25 to 66.7%, which
indicated a high genetic diversity among the genotypes. We conclude that random
amplified polymorphic DNA analysis can be used for the characterization and
grouping of wheat genotypes; these results will be helpful in our wheat breeding

Tuning a PID controller is a crucial task in control engineering to achieve optimal performance of the system. However, manual tuning of PID parameters can be inaccurate and difficult without extensive experience. One approach to tuning the PID controller is by utilizing heuristic algorithms. These algorithms are based on natural phenomena and can efficiently search for the optimal set of PID parameters. Therefore, utilizing met heuristic algorithms for tuning PID controllers can significantly improve the system's performance and reduce costs associated with manual tuning. In this paper, a new method for tuning parameters of the PID controller of DC motors using a hybrid adaptive PID_GTO predictive model based on the artificial gorilla t

Non-homogeneous Poisson process with power law intensity function has often been used as a model for describing the failure pattern of repairable systems. Maximum likelihood and Bayesian estimation are used to estimate model parameters. Simulation and realistic application are used and represented by shutting down the gas power plant in Mosul. Stops in hours are designed with the power law random process model in order to obtain a model that represents the average stop time of the units throughout the study period in the best way. The results of the application on the data of the three concerned stations show that the Bayes estimate is better than the maximum likelihood estimate.
