This experiment was performed to investigate the effect of dietary supplementation with linseed on egg quality of laying quail. A total of 320 9-week-old Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) 9-wk old were allocated to 4 treatment groups with 4 replicates containing 20 quail each. Birds were fed a commercial diet containing 0% (C), 2% (T1), 4% (T2), or 6% (T3) linseed. Birds received water and diet ad libitum during the total period of the experiment. Egg quality characteristics were monitored over 3 consecutive 21-d periods. Egg quality criteria involved in this experiment were egg weight, yolk diameter, yolk height, yolk weight, albumen height, albumen weight, shell weight, shell thickness, Haugh unit, albumen percentage, yolk percentage, and shell percentage. Results revealed that supplementing the diet of laying quail with linseed resulted in a significant increase in total means of egg weight, yolk diameter, albumen height, shell thickness, Haugh unit, albumen percentage, and albumen weight. Total means of shell weight and yolk percentage were not significantly (p>0.05) different from quails consuming 0, 2, 4, or 6% linseed; However, the total mean of shell percentage was reduced (p<0.05) in laying quails fed linseed when compared to the control group. In conclusion, feeding laying quails with different levels of linseed (2%, 4%, or 6%) caused significant improvement as regards most of the egg quality parameters included in this experiment. Therefore, adding linseed to the ration could be used as a good tool for improving the productive performance of Japanese quail.

Show MoreDespite the broad approbation of additive manufacturing technologies over diverse industries, printed parts’ performance, quality, and related build time are still greatly influenced by printing parameters. These parameters majorly affect mechanical strength, surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and overall production time of the printed part. Customized 3D printing layer thickness, speed, and acceleration are crucial parameters that affect the speedy printing process and final product quality. The current work considers layer thickness in addition to speed and high acceleration values effect on the surface quality, surface roughness and productivity time of 3D printed Polylactic Acid (PLA). The experiment was designed as a split-plot arrangement within a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. The main plots included three wheat cultivars (Iba’a-99, Buhooth-22, and Buhooth-10), while the subplots consisted of three planting densities (80, 100, and 120 kg ha−1), and the sub-sub plots were assigned to two row orientations: East-
Background: The prevalence of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients is rising in Iraq. Adherence to medications among SLE patients remains a significant problem, and nonadherence can lead to decreased quality of life (QoL) and poor disease outcomes. Objectives: To determine the efficacy of pharmacist interventions in enhancing medication adherence, QoL, and self-efficacy among SLE patients. In addition, to assess the influence of pharmacist intervention on the uptake and willingness to take the flu vaccine among patients with SLE. Methods: A pharmacist intervention study was conducted at the Rheumatology Unit in Baghdad Teaching Hospital. Participants obtained educational counseling and a self-assembled booklet. Each patient p
