Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) bars have several advantages over traditional steel reinforcement, including low density, erosion resistance, and higher tensile strength. The ACI 440.11-22 code permits CFRP as reinforcement; however, there are limited experimental studies on its application in Reinforced Concrete (RC) columns under combined loads. This study utilized theoretical analysis and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to investigate 25 square slender concrete columns (kL/r = 17) affected by concentric and eccentric loads, examining variables, like CFRP bar contribution, eccentricity-to-depth ratio, and reinforcement arrangement. The results demonstrated CFRP's effectiveness in these columns, with failure modes varying from brittle compression-controlled under low eccentricities to tension-controlled under high eccentricities. The FEA results indicated that the CFRP columns exhibited higher second-order moments than the steel columns due to CFRP's lower elastic modulus, these results were compatible with the experimental results. Moreover; the (P-M) interaction diagram of CFRP reinforced column does not experience a balanced point. It was also observed that increasing the reinforcement ratio enhances the axial capacity by 33% and the bending resistance by 141% while reducing the ties’ spacing from 140 mm to 40 mm has no significant influence on both the axial capacity and bending resistance. The study also expanded to verify theoretical models against experimental data, confirming their accuracy. These findings contribute to establishing reliable design guidelines for CFRP-RC columns influenced by axial loads and bending moments.
The dynamic behavior of laced reinforced concrete (LRC) T‐beams could give high‐energy absorption capabilities without significantly affecting the cost, which was offered through a combination of high strength and ductile response. In this paper, LRC T‐beams, composed of inclined continuous reinforcement on each side of the beam, were investigated to maintain high deformations as predicted in blast resistance. The beams were tested under four‐point loading to create pure bending zones and obtain the ultimate flexural capacities. Transverse reinforcement using lacing reinforcement and conventional vertical stirrups were compared in terms of deformation, strain, and toughness changes of the tes
Over the last few decades, fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) has been increasingly used in strengthening different structural concrete members. The main objective of this research is to study the influence of curvature on the performance of curved soffit reinforced concrete (RC) bridge girders that have been strengthened with carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP). This experimental program was designed to evaluate the effect of concavity and soffit curvature on the CFRP laminate utilization and load capacity, compared to flat soffit RC beams strengthened with the same CFRP system. Accordingly, five beams, 2.7 m in length and having the same degree of soffit curvature (20 mm per 1 meter

An optimization calculation is made to find the optimum properties of combined quadrupole lens which consists of electrostatic and magnetic lens. Both chromatic and spherical aberration coefficients are reduced to minimum values and the achromatic aberration is found for many cases. These calculations are achieved with the aid of transfer matrices method and using rectangular model of field distribution, where the path of charged-particles beam traversing the field has been determined by solving the trajectory equation of motion and then the optical properties for lens have been computed with the aid of the beam trajectory along the lens axis. The computations have been concentrated on determining the chromatic and spher

Furthermore, a design approach for UPC structures in existing design guidelines for FRP strengthening techniques is lacking. Hence, the behavior of post-tensioned beams strengthened with NSM-CFRP laminates after partial strand damage is investigated in this study. The testing program consists of seven post-tensioned beams strengthened by NSM-CFRP laminates with three partial strand damage ratios (14.3% symmetrical damage, 14.3%

An experimental program was conducted on spandrel beams considering different key parameters including the cross-sectional aspect ratio (
Research aims to develop a novel technique for segmental beam fabrication using plain concrete blocks and externally bonded Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers Laminates (CFRP) as a main flexural reinforcement. Six beams designed an experimentally tested under two-point loadings. Several parameters included in the fabrication of segmental beam studied such as; bonding length of carbon fiber reinforced polymers, the surface-to-surface condition of concrete segments, interface condition of the bonding surface, and thickness of epoxy resin layers. Test results of the segmental beams specimens compared with that gained from testing reinforced concrete beam have similar dimensions for validations. The results show the effectiven
