Silica sand-supported nZVI-Cu nanoparticles synthesized in a green method for antibiotics removal from aqueous solutions
...Show More Authors

It is challenging to remove antibiotics from water bodies, as they are among the most widespread contaminants in the environment, particularly with conventional wastewater treatment methods, due to their persistence and low biodegradability. The current study examined the use of nanoscale zero-valent iron to remove antibiotics. Conocarpus leaf extract, which is primarily composed of polyphenols like flavonoids and tannins, was employed as a green source to prepare Fe/Cu nanoparticles, which can act as an eco-friendly reducing agent. The nanoparticles were immobilized onto silica sand (SS), forming SS-Fe/Cu nanocomposite to remove tetracycline (TC) and ciprofloxacin (CIP) from aqueous solutions. The structural characteristics of the produced nanocomposite were examined using a number of analytical techniques, including XRD, FTIR, FE-SEM, EDS, TEM, BET, TGA, and DSC. The structural and morphological analyses confirmed the successful synthesis of the SS–Fe/Cu nanocomposite, with well-dispersed nanoparticles (FE-SEM/TEM), characteristic functional groups (FTIR), crystalline structure (XRD), surface area enhancement (BET), elemental composition (EDS), and good thermal stability (TGA/DSC).  Studies were conducted through batch experiments, and the influence of various variables (contact time, pH, agitation speed, nanocomposite dosage, and initial pollutant concentration (Co)) was investigated. The maximum removal efficiencies of 93% and 85% were achieved for TC and CIP, respectively, under ideal conditions: time = 90 min, pH of 11 for TC and 7 for CIP, agitation speed = 200 rpm, Co = 10 mg/L, and nanocomposite dosage of 1 g/50 mL. Isotherm, kinetic, and thermodynamic studies showed that adsorption of both TC and CIP followed the Freundlich model and pseudo-second-order kinetics, indicating chemisorption as the main mechanism. Thermodynamic results revealed that TC adsorption was endothermic and non-spontaneous (positive ΔS°), while CIP adsorption was exothermic and spontaneous (negative ΔS°), confirming the efficiency of the SS–Fe/Cu nanocomposite. The results revealed that the green-fabricated SS-Fe/Cu nanocomposite could be used as an efficient agent for extracting TC and CIP from aqueous solutions.

Background: Mothers are considered as the key role in effect on child's dental behavior. So it is important to involve her in oral health promotion program to prevent early childhood dental caries from occurring in early age. Objectives: To identify the knowledge, practice and attitude of mothers about the oral health of their children. And to measure the change in oral hygiene of children aged (4-7) years old after one month of interventional program on their mothers. Type of study: Non-randomized interventional. Methods: Non-randomized interventional study for one month in Al Shaab area in Baghdad to 65 mothers who have children aged (4-7) years .A modified administrated questionnaire is given to assess mothers’ knowledge, practice an

PCR-RFLP Analysis of Insulin-Like Growth Factor 2 Gene Polymorphisms in Two Commercial Broiler Chicken Strains (Cobb 500 and Hubbard F-15) and Their Associations with Performance Traits
...Show More Authors

The present research aimed to study the polymorphisms of the chicken insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF2) in two commercial broiler breeds (Cobb 500 and Hubbard F-15). In total, 300 avian blood samples were obtained. The genomic DNA was isolated using a fast salt-extraction technique. Moreover, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to amplify 1146 bp fragments of the gene. The amplified fragments were subjected to restriction enzyme digestion using the HinfI endonuclease enzyme, and the digested products were separated on a 2% agarose gel. The findings indicated that there were two alleles, T and C, for the target locus, with frequencies of 73.3% and 26.7%, respectively. Three distinct genotype variations, TT, TC, and CC, were found, with

Political Marketing and the Formation of Trends in Public Opinion on Social Networking Sites: An Analytical Study of the Two F.B. Pages: the Prime Minister and the Parliament President
...Show More Authors

The social networking sites have become one of the most important promotional instruments for their characteristic of facilitation of communication and the creation of public platform for discussion and formation of new points of view. These sites were used in the political marketing process where politicians use Facebook pages to promote their ideologies and spread their programs for the purpose of an influencing public opinion.
This research deals with the way by which political products are the Iraqi parliament. We adopt the methodology for analyzing the contents of these pages during three months starting from September,12 2016 to March 1, 2017 characterized by a lot of changes and events, in particular the beginning of the war o

Optimization of ultrasonic-assisted extraction and in vitro determination of the cytotoxic effect of ethyl acetate fraction of wild Amaranthus viridis on SKGT-4, AGS and A431 cell lines
...Show More Authors

Amaranthus viridis L. belongs to the Amaranthaceae family. It is a rich source of numerous phytochemicals and amino acids. The objective of this work was to optimize Ultrasound-Assisted Extraction (UAE) based on the extraction yield and Thin-Layer Chromatography (TLC) profile under different conditions, to compare the optimized UAE to the Soxhlet extraction method and evaluate the cytotoxic effects of the ethyl acetate fraction of the 80 % ethanolic extract on the SKGT-4 (human esophageal adenocarcinoma), AGS (human gastric adenocarcinoma) and A431 (human epidermoid carcinoma). A one-factor at a time experiment was carefully designed to assess the influence of the following factors on the extraction: time, frequency, solid-to-solven
