Synthesis and Characterization of Schiff Base Folic Acid Based Ligand and Its Complexes
...Show More Authors

D-mannose sugar was used to prepare [benzoic acid 6-formyl-2,2-dimethyl-tetrahydrofuro[3,4-d][1,3]dioxol-4-yl ester] (compound A). The condensation reaction of folic acid with (compound A) resulted in the formation of new ligand [L]. These compounds were characterized by elemental analysis CHN, atomic absorption A.A, (FT-I.R.), (U.V.-Vis), TLC, E.S. mass (for electrospray), molar conductance, and melting point. The new tetradentate ligand [L], reacted with two moles of some selected metal ions and two moles of (2-aminophenol), (metal : ligand : 2-aminophenol) at reflux in water medium to give a series of new complexes of the general formula K2[M2(L)(HA)2] where M= Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Cd(II). These complexes were characterized by elemental analyses [(C.H.N) and (A.A)], (FTI.R), (U.V-Vis.), molar conductance, 1 H,13C-NMR, TLC and magnetic moment measurements. From the above data the proposed geometry about Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Cd(II), is tetrahedral structure. Biological activity of the lignd and its complexes was carried out on staphylococcus aureu, bacillus subtilis escherichia coli and psedomonas aeruginosa.

Monitoring the Expansion of Unplanned Urbanization and its Impact on Climate Change based on Google Earth Engine Service, a Case Study of Baghdad / Iraq
...Show More Authors

The earth's surface comprises different kinds of land cover, water resources, and soil, which create environmental factors for varied animals, plants, and humans. Knowing the significant effects of land cover is crucial for long-term development, climate change modeling, and preserving ecosystems. In this research, the Google Earth Engine platform and freely available Landsat imagery were used to investigate the impact of the expansion and degradation in urbanized areas, watersheds, and vegetative cover on the land surface temperature in Baghdad from 2004 to 2021. Land cover indices such as the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index, Normalized Difference Water Index, and Normalized Difference Built-up Index (NDVI, NDWI, an

Screening and optimization of a novel gallic acid and tannase production under semi quantitative and quantitative methods
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>Tannin acyl hydrolase as the common name of tannase is an inducible extracellular enzyme that causes the hydrolysis of galloyl ester and depside bonds in tannins, yielding gallic acid and glucose. The main objective of this study is to find a novel gallic acid and tannase produced by Acinetobacter Baumannii. A number of optimization steps were followed in order to improve the highest production of gallic acid and tannase. In present study, A. baumannii were isolated from ICU burn. A. baumannii was examined by microscopic examination, morphological and biochemical assay including oxidase and catalase. Salivary vitamin E and uric acid in patients with OLP and healthy individuals
...Show More Authors

Background: Oral Lichen planus (OLP) is a T-cell mediated chronic inflammatory oral mucosal disease of unknown etiology. Recent studies have reported an increased oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation in such patients. This suggests that reactive oxygen species may have a role in the pathogenesis of lichen planus. Oxidative stress in OLP release molecules consisting of granzymes resulting in local tissue damage in the effectors. Antioxidants that can defend against oxidative stress in the body cells include enzymes, as well as non- enzymatic antioxidants, such as melatonin, uric acid, vitamin A and E. Purpose: To study the level of salivary vitamin E and uric acid as antioxidant agents in patients with OLP and compared with healthy con

Synthesis and Dielectric Properties of MgO:ZnO Composites
...Show More Authors

The dielectric properties of the fabricated composites MgO:ZnO with various mixing ratios (100,75:25,50:50,25:75, and 100 wt. %)were investigated. The structure analysis was conducted using X-ray diffraction. The structure phase, crystallite size and purity of the fabricated MgO:ZnO composites were confirmed using X-ray diffraction spectra. The results declared that the diffraction spectrum of 100%MgO composite samples were compatible with cubic structure along the plane (200) while the structures of residual composite's samples were compatible with hexagonal structures. The crystal size of the most pronounced plane (101) for crystal growth was changed from 30.4 nm to 53.2 nm by increasing ZnO ratio from 25 to 100wt%. The diel

Synthesis and microbiological study of new sulfonamides
...Show More Authors

In contrast to the classical antibacterial sulfa drugs that are unsubstituted or monosubstituted, our newly synthesized analogs were designed to obtain sulfonamide moiety containing disubstituted hetero nitrogen atom. These compounds were formed successfully by chlorosulfonation of acetanilide and the product was treated with different cyclic amines and finally amide hydrolysis was necessary to get agents that were analyzed for IR, UV, CHN, melting points and solubility. At last, we studied their antibacterial activity on certain types of bacteria and we noticed the inactivity due to possible steric factor. Principly, this means these products have no inhibiting action against the used microbes.

Methionine as a Spacer between Poly Acrylic acid and Ampicillin
...Show More Authors

In this work a novel drug delivery system through modification of poly acrylic acid with Methionine as a spacer between the poly acrylic acid which was converted to its acyl chloride and reacted with Methionine as spacer unit which has been reacted with Ampicillin drug. In vitro drug release study had been conducted successfully in basic medium in pH 7.4 and acidic medium in pH 1.1 at 37?. Due to many problems associated with drug release and, this modification could decrease the side effect of drug. The prepared prodrug polymer was characterized by spectra method [FTIR and 1H?NMR]. Physical properties and intrinsic viscosity of drug polymer were determined. The good results were obtained in the presence of spacer unit with compar

Stability of organic permeable base transistors
...Show More Authors

Organic Permeable Base Transistors (OPBTs) reach a very high transit frequency and large on-state currents. However, for a later commercial application of this technology, a high operational stability is essential as well. Here, the stability of OPBTs during continuous cycling and during base bias stress is discussed. It is observed that the threshold voltage of these transistors shifts toward more positive base voltages if stressed by applying a constant potential to the base electrode for prolonged times. With the help of a 2D device simulation, it is proposed that the observed instabilities are due to charges that are trapped on top of an oxide layer formed around the base electrode. These charges are thermally released after rem
