Background: Diabetes and hypertension are related to cardiovascular risk factors and are possible to detect development of atherosclerosis in cardiovascular system, were can predict their effect and measurement by ultrasound and Doppler study. These risk factors included increased intima-media thickness, resistive index (RI) and pulsatility index (PI) of the right common carotid arteries. Method: We studied 20 patients with diabetes and hypertension, and 20 patients with diabetes only, were examine right carotid arteries for these two groups. In this sample we studied the Lumen diameter of the Rt. carotid arteries, Intima – media thickness (IMT), peak systolic velocity, end diastolic velocity, and Pulsatility index, Resistance index were measured. Results: Showed that the change differences in Intima – media thickness and Lumen diameter between patients with diabetes and hypertension than diabetes only were (-18.29%), (-11.26%) respectively with significant (p value <0.05). On the other hand the change difference in peak systolic velocity was (21.25%) for diabetes and hypertension, and diabetes only, with significant p value <0.05. The end diastolic velocity is higher value at DM group than diabetic and hypertensive group with significant p value. The change difference between Pulsatility and Resistance Index for both patients group were (-18.18%), (-16.12) respectively, with significant (p value <0.05). Conclusion: Spectral waveform indices of Rt. Internal carotid artery including Peak systolic velocity (PSV); End-diastolic velocity (EDV), Resistive index (RI) and Pulsatility index (PI) are profound predictive value of atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease and ischemic changes in Diabetic and hypertensive Iraqi patients beside the intima –media thickness increment and lumen diameter change effect of common carotid artery
Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are produced as a result of biochemical processes that are not in balance with the body's antioxidant defense mechanism. This metabolic dysfunction is referred to the oxidative stress (OS). Metabolic dysfunction-associated diseases are affected by changes in the redox balance. It is now widely recognized that oxidative stress significantly affects diabetes mellitus (DM), particularly type 2 diabetes. The biochemical changes associated with DM could disturb the oxidative milieu, leading to several microvascular complications in diabetic patients. Thus, DM is a perfect disease to explore the harmful consequences of oxidative stress and how to treat it. Oxidative stress triggered by hyperglycemia is
... Show MoreGestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) is the most common metabolic disorder that found during gestation and is define as hyperglycemia of variable severity with onset or first recognition during gestation that does not clearly characterize any form of the preexisting diabetes (American Diabetes Association [1]). It affects approximately 16.5% of pregnancies worldwide (Plows, et al.[2]). The placenta is an organ that connects the mother and her fetus during pregnancy (Gul, et al.[3]). In the placenta, glucose can be transformed into glycogen for storage by either glycogen synthase or using glycogenin as a prime. However, the function of glycogen deposition stays a matter of debate, it may be the source of fuel for placenta itself or the storag

A different approach for forecasting a variety of soil physical parameters is reflected spectroscopy is a low-cost, quick, and repeatable analytical method. The objectives of this paper are to predict heavy metal (Ti, Cr, Sr, Fe, Zn, Cu and Pb) soil contamination in central and southern Iraq using spectroscopy data. An XRF was used to quantify the levels of heavy metals in a total of 53 soil samples from Baghdad and ThiQar, and a spectrogram was used to examine how well spectral data might predict the presence of heavy metals metals. The partial least squares regression PLSR models performed well in pr
The lowest layer of the atmosphere is called the atmospheric mixed layer, characterized by small-scale, irregular air motions defined by winds that change in speed and direction. Aerosol radiative effects impact the atmospheric boundary layer (ABL), which holds most aerosols in the lower atmosphere. Aerosol absorption and scattering both lower the quantity of solar energy that reaches the ground, which has an impact on the spectral signature of the land coverings. In this study, 51 locations in downtown Baghdad were chosen for four different types of land cover (water bodies, farms, open areas, and residential areas) for Sentinel 2 satellite imagery, and the time the pictures were taken was 8:00 am ( 22 March, 22 June, 20 September,

Given the global push toward standardization of financial reporting to enhance financial statement transparency, comparability, and reliability, this research seeks to understand the implications of these standards for economic valuation within a region characterized by its unique economic and regulatory challenges. A questionnaire was distributed to 86 Iraqi academics specializing in economics, accounting, and finance to collect their views on the impact of adopting international financial reporting standards. Through careful statistical analysis, the study concluded that applying international financial reporting s

Show MoreIn this investigation, deep eutectic solvent based on propionic acid and choline chloride was used to prepare polyaniline, polypyrrole, and poly(aniline-co-pyrrole) samples using chemical oxidation and polymerization. Quantum mechanical calculations were conducted using time-dependent density functional theory to determine the electronic, spectroscopic properties and structure of homopolymers and the copolymer which were compared with the respective experimental data. Furthermore, the synthesized materials were characterized using Fourier transform IR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV-visible spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. IR and UV-visible spectra confirmed copolymerization, and SEM revealed that the copol

The aim of this study is to evaluate the main causes underlying recurrent respiratory tract infections in 176 pediatric patients aged 2 month to 4 year and weight from 4 to11 kg referred to the child center hospital and Al-sader hospital prospective study. All parents were given information sheet which then analyzed and the percentage of incidence of causes were recorded, we found that higher % related to many causes; mostly related to the parent like poor family education, mother carelessness, incomplete vaccination, other related to empirical diagnosis, and short course of t
... Show MoreA new ligand (H4L) and its complexes with ( ZnII, CdII and HgII) were prepared. This ligand was prepared in two steps. In the first step a solution of terephthaldehyde in methanol was reacted under reflux with 1,2-phenylenediamine to give an precursor compound which reacted in the second step with 2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde to give the ligand. The complexes were then synthesized by direct reaction of the corresponding metal chloride with the ligand. The ligand and complexes were characterized by spectroscopic methods FT-IR, UV-Vis, 1 HNMR, and atomic absorption, chloride content, HPLC, mole-ratio determination. in addition to conductivity measurement. The data of these measurements suggest a distorted tetrahedral geometry for ZnII, C
... Show MoreThe current research aims at studying the precise and big movement skills and the ability
of the diabetic child to do them, The research sample consisted of ten diabetic children who
go to the Diabetes Center of Research that is apart of the Yarmook hospital. The sample was
chosen according to the intentional method and it wasn’t possible to have bigger sample
because the parents of the children didn’t agree for fear on the children’s health. It was
apparent through the research that the diabetic child performs the big movement skills better
than his ability to do the precise movement skills because they require accuracy,
concentration and high attention.
