Barriers and enablers shaping kidney transplant care delivery: Insights from Iraqi pharmacists
...Show More Authors

Background Kidney transplant care in low-resource countries is often affected by multiple factors, including workforce constraints, fragmented communication, and medication access challenges. Given pharmacists’ involvement in medication management and regular patient follow-up, this study was designed to explore transplant care delivery in Iraq from pharmacists’ perspectives. Method Qualitative data were collected using face-to-face, semi-structured interviews with all eligible pharmacists from the two major governmental hospitals in Baghdad caring for kidney transplant recipients. Afterwards, data were analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s reflexive thematic analysis approach. Results This study included 13 pharmacists, 5 of whom were working in the clinical transplant wards, whereas the remaining 8 were working in the outpatient consultation setting. Four descriptive themes were identified: Dispensing-centered practice within a constrained and evolving pharmacist role, fragmented yet adaptive interprofessional collaboration, patient education as an informal and inconsistently delivered practice, and medication availability within a constrained and variably regulated supply system. Conclusion This study highlights the adaptive approaches used by pharmacists in an attempt to maintain medication access and patient support with the available resources. However, the study findings also highlight challenges that extend beyond the capacity of individual pharmacists to resolve and suggest the need for more structured organizational support, clearer communication pathways, and an integrated system to strengthen Iraqi transplant care practices within comparable governmental settings.

Women psychiatrists in Iraq: breaking barriers in career development
...Show More Authors
Abstract
Iraqi psychiatrists pioneered the commencement of mental health services eight decades ago and became the cornerstone of its development over the years despite the profound challenges of wars, conflicts, shortages of resources, and social stigma towards psychiatry in general. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the contributions that women make to mental health services, even though they are underrepresented in positions of leadership in psychiatry. We conducted a comprehensive review of existing literature and the archives of educational psychiatric institutes, personal communication with the psychiatrists in charge, and scrutinized the search engines for the latest data. High-Performance HDPE/PP Composite Pipes: Morphological, Mechanical, and Antibacterial Insights
...Show More Authors

This study developed compatible polymer composites based on a blend of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and polypropylene (PP), modified with 1% maleic-anhydride-grafted polypropylene (PP-g-MAH) as a compatibilizer. Five formulations were prepared with HDPE/PP ratios of 100/0, 94/6, 89/11, 84/16, and 79/21, each containing 1 wt% (1% by weight) PP-g-MAH. The blends were comprehensively evaluated through morphological, mechanical, thermal, wettability, and bacteriological analyses to determine their suitability for sanitary water-pipe applications. Among all formulations, composite A2 (89% HDPE/10% PP/1% PP-g-MAH) demonstrated the most balanced and superior performance. It achieved a hardness of approximately 70 Shore D and an impact resistan

The aim of the research is to set a set of BioKinematic variables for the step of crossing barriers (3–6–9) in a 110-meter barrier for young runners. The researchers concluded the study by interpreting and discussing the results that the most important variables must be relied upon when training and selecting runners that got the best saturation on their factors: 1-The first factor which refers to the total distance of the plan to pass the third barrier + the total distance of the plan to pass the ninth barrier + the total distance Plan to cross the sixth barrier. 2-The second factor which refers to the total vertical speed before passing the third barrier + the total vertical speed before the sixth barrier + the total vertica

BK Polyomavirus-infected Decoy Cells in Urine Cytology Specimens of Renal Transplant Recipients
...Show More Authors

Background BK polyomavirus is one of the common post-transplant viral infections, affecting ∼15% of renal transplantation recipients (RTR), leading to graft loss in more than half of cases. Objectives Study the rate of detection of BK virus (BKV) in RTRs in Pap-stained urine cytology specimens. Methods A single center study, urine samples were collected from 99 RTR patients, with 15 Living Donors (LD) and 15 patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) were taken as controls. And urine cytology smears were Pap stained for detection of decoy cells (DCs). Results Out of the 99 RTRs, 27 (27.3%) patients were decoy positive, 8 out of these 27 patients had uncommon DCs, and 5 out of these 27 cytology positive patients (18.5%) had biopsy proven B

Association between Allelic Variations of -174G/C Polymorphism of Interleukin-6 Gene and Chronic Kidney Disease-Mineral and Bone Disorder in Iraqi Patients
...Show More Authors

This study designed to examine association between-174G/C polymorphism of interleukin-6 gene and phosphate, calcium, vitamin D3, and parathyroid hormone levels in Iraqi patient with chronic kidney disease on maintenance hemodialysis. Seventy chronic renal failure patients (patients group) and 20 healthy subjects (control group) were genotyped for interleukin-6 polymorphism and genotyping was performed by conventional polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism. No significant differences in phosphate levels were observed in patients and control with different interleukin-6 genotypes. Control had non-significant differences in calcium levels, while patients with GG and CG genotypes displayed significant e
