Antibacterial and therapeutic effects of vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus bacteriocin (VRSAcin) in the treatment of VRSA skin infection in mice
...Show More Authors

Vancomycin Staphylococcus aureus (VRSA) is a strain of S. aureus that is considered the main cause of bacterial skin and soft tissue infections. It has acquired resistance to vancomycin and represents a therapeutic challenge. The current study aimed to compare the possible therapeutic effects of VRSA bacteriocin (VRSAcin) on the treatment of skin infection in mice with those of an antibiotic (linezolid). The results showed that of the fifty swabs obtained from human skin wounds. One isolate was selected for VRSAcin extraction depending on its antibiotic resistance using an antibiotic susceptibility test.An agar well diffusion test was used to determine bacteriocin’s antibacterial activity, as well as its a minimum inhibitory concentration, minimum bactericidal concentration, and antibiofilm efficiency against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria that were resistant to many medicines. The freshly developed antibacterial substance VRSAcin shows promise. Bacteriocin from VRSA was extracted and studied the optimal conditions for the Production following Purification of bacteriocin by ammonium sulfate precipitation followed by cation-exchange chromatography. The molecular weight of bacteriocin about (29 kDa) were determined by Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). The typical conditions for the production of VRSAcin include a pH of 7 and a temperature of 37 ◦C for 48 h. In mice, VRSA-contaminated wounds revealed severe tissue distraction and inflammation that extended to the hypodermis, while VRSA-treated skin showed mild changes and localized lesions to the epidermis and upper dermis. The skin of linezolid ointment-treated mice showed moderate to severe changes. In conclusion, VRSA strain infections in human burned skin were more common than expected. In vivo studies in mice indicated that wounded skin infected with VRSA can be treated with VRSAcin as an antibacterial agent that promotes healing processes with obvious superiority to linezolid ointment. As a result, the VRSA develops bacteriocins that are appropriate for regulating AMR, Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, and may be useful in wound dressings.

Background: The treatment of articular cartilage defects is one of the most clinical challeng for orthopedic surgeons. Articular cartilage is a highly organized tissue with complex biomechanical properties and substantial durability. However, it has a poor ability for healing, and damage from trauma or degeneration can result in morbidity and functional impairment. debilitating joint pain, dysfunction, and degenerative arthritis                                                                           Objectives: The purpose of study is to show effectiveness of micro fracture arthroscopy as a method of treatment for such problem . Background. Temporomandibular dysfunction syndrome (TMD) is a common disease among dental patients. It occurs as a consequence of malfunction of the tempromandibular and/or surrounding facial muscles. LED red light therapy is not been well established, and it is important to find out the role of this technique in the treatment of temporomandibular disorders. Aim of the Study. To evaluate the efficacy of the LED red light in the treatment of the tempromandibular dysfunction syndrome. Material and Methods. Impact of Tigris River Pollution on the Performance of Water Treatment Plants Efficiencies in Baghdad City
...Show More Authors

The determination of river pollution impact on the performance of water treatment plants is achieved by two main objectives. The first is to study raw and treated water qualities and comparing them with standards and the second is to evaluate the treatment plants efficiency. The analyzed data were those water quality parameters in relation to physical, chemical and bacteriological characteristics for river water and produced water by seven water treatment plants located on Tigris River passing through Baghdad City.
The results of this study indicated that all raw water characteristic are within the surface water standards established by Iraqi and USA criteria except Bacterial Counts.
Tigris River water is of good quality to be trea

Background: Refractory/relapsed acute leukemia has always been a challenging problem for hematologist. Over the past decade emphasis has been made in the development of regimens containing fludarabine, combined with cytosine arabinoside for the treatment of refractory/relapsed acute leukemias. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of the combination of fludarabine, high dose cytarabine, and granulocyte colony stimulating factor in refractory relapsed cases of acute leukaemia,
Methods: a prospective study is being conducted at the national center of hematology and hematology unit /Baghdad teaching hospital from July 2008 to July 2010.Twenty Patients with refractory/relapsed acute leukemia were treated with flud

Background: Fractures of the humeral shaft accounting for approximately 3% of all fractures. There is a wide array of good options for their treatment and controversy over the best methods. Although good techniques of osteosynthesis are available, the aim of this article is toemphasize on the benefit and good outcome of conservative treatment for properly selected cases to decrease the cost and avoid the complications of surgery. Method : During the period from February 2011 to June 2012 fifty-five fractures of humeral shaft were treated at orthopedicdepartment in the ALKindyteaching hospital. 22 fractures considered suitable for the study. Treatment of Sulfate in Sand by Using Magnetic Water Process
...Show More Authors

One of the most important problems in concrete production in Iraq and other country is the high sulfate content in sand that led to damage of concrete and hence reduces its compressive strength and may leads to cracking due to internal sulfate attack and delay ettringite formation. The magnetic water treatment process is adopted in this study. Many samples with different SO3 content are treated with magnetic water (12, 8, 4 and 2)L that needed for each 1kg of sand with the magnetic intensity (9000 and 5000) Gaus. The magnetic water needed is reduced with less SO3 content in sand. The ACI 211.1-91 concrete mix design was used in this research with slump range (75- 100) mm and the specified compressive strength (35MPa). The compressive streng

Minimum Spanning Tree Algorithm for Skin Cancer Image Object Detection
...Show More Authors

This paper proposes a new method Object Detection in Skin Cancer Image, the minimum
spanning tree Detection descriptor (MST). This ObjectDetection descriptor builds on the
structure of the minimum spanning tree constructed on the targettraining set of Skin Cancer
Images only. The Skin Cancer Image Detection of test objects relies on their distances to the
closest edge of thattree. Our experimentsshow that the Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) performs
especially well in case of Fogginessimage problems and in highNoisespaces for Skin Cancer
Image.
The proposed method of Object Detection Skin Cancer Image wasimplemented and tested on
different Skin Cancer Images. We obtained very good results . The experiment showed that
