In the current study, new derivatives were synthesized by reaction of N-hydroxyphthalimide with chloro acetyl chloride in the presence of Et3N as a base to form 1,3-dioxoisoindolin-2-yl 2-chloroacetate (B1), which in turn enters several reactions with different amines where it interacts with primary amines to give 1,3-dioxoisoindolin-2-yl acetate derivatives (B2-B4) in basic medium, in the same way it interacts with these amines but with adding KNCS to form thiourea derivatives (B5-B7). This study deals with air pollution tolerance index (APTI) and anatomical variation in leaves of two species of terrestrial plants Ficus sp. and Conocarpus sp. that have bee commonly the separated along roadsides in many stations within Babylon province. APTI values of both species were less than 10 during study period which represented sensitivity of these plants to air pollution. Sediments samples from ten stations along the Euphrates River and seven
samples from selected springs within Al –Anbar governorate, (western part of Iraq),
were collected and analyzed for radioactivity. Sediments samples were dried at 100
ºC for 24 hours. Radioactivity in 1 kg of each sample was measured using gamma
spectrometer system based on a pure germanium detector with efficiency 30%. The
activity of Ra-226, Th-232, K-40 were measured to be within the typical average of
