Expression of programmed death ligand 1 in patients with triple‑negative breast cancer: Association with clinicopathological parameters
...Show More Authors

The utilization of targeted therapy for programmed death ligand 1 (PD‑L1) has emerged as a prominent focus in contemporary clinical trials, particularly in the context of immune checkpoint inhibitors. The prognostic significance of the expression of PD‑L1 in invasive mammary cancer remains a subject of discussion in clinical oncology, requiring further exploration, despite its recognition as a biomarker for responsiveness to anti‑PDL1 immunotherapy. The present study was conducted to investigate the immunohistological expression of PD‑L1 in women with triple‑negative breast cancer (TNBC), with a particular focus for searching for the associated clinical and pathological characteristics. The present retrospective study examined the immunohistochemical expression of PD‑L1 in 40 formalin‑fixed paraffin‑embedded blocks provided by core needle biopsies from women with TNBC. Data analysis was performed by comparing PDL1 expression with histological grade, the presence or the absence of calcification, the presence or the absence of necrosis and axillary lymph node status at presentation. The positivity of PD‑L1 expression was found in 24 (60%) of the total number of samples. The mean number of PD‑L1 positive samples was 37.8333±21.857. There was a non‑statistically significant association between PD‑L1 positivity, histological grade and the presence of tissue necrosis. A statistically significant association was found between PD‑L1 positivity and the presence of calcification and positive axillary lymph node status at presentation. On the whole, the present study demonstrates that PD‑L1 expression is present at a relatively high prevalence rate in TNBC; thus, it is rational to examine PD‑L1 expression in women with TNBC.

ABSTRACT: BACKGROUND: The main goal of facelift surgery is to reduce the effect of aging by reposition of face soft tissue in to more youthful orientation. There are many methods for SMAS plication which had different design and vector of pull. AIM OF STUDY: To evaluate the effectiveness and longitivity of 7 shaped SMAS plication in facelift. PATIENT AND METHODS: From January 2020 to march 2021, 10 female patients with age (45-60) years were presented with facial sagging, those patients were subjected to subcutaneous facelift with 7 shaped SMAS plication with fat greft in Al-Shaheed Ghazi Al-Harri Hospital and Baghdad burn medical center at Baghdad medical complex. RESULTS: The average follow up period was 6 to 12 months. The mean operative

Study of Plasma Metanephrine Level As Biochemical Parameter in Pregnant Women with Preeclampsia
...Show More Authors

Pregnancy- including hypertension(PIH), also known as preeclampsia, is one of the major causes of maternal and fetal death. This study was carried out on 30 pregnant women with preeclampsia and 30 healthy pregnant women as control ranging in age mean ±SD (28.84±3.55) years , BMI (76.80±9.78) Kg/m2 and gestation age(30.82±0.75)week. The aim of this research was studied the plasma Metanephrine level and other biochemical parameters such as Hemoglobin(Hb), serum Protein, S. Albumin, Globulin, Albumin/Globulin ratio (Alb/Glu. ratio), S.Glutamate Pyruvate aminotransferase (GPT), S.Glutamate Oxaloacetate aminotransferase(GOT). The obtained results have been compared with 30 healthy pregnant women as control group. The result showed

Background: Cigarette smoking (CS) is a periodontal disease risk factor, affecting clinical parameters such as bleeding on probing (BOP), plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI) and proinflammatory cytokines level. This study examines the impact electronic cigarette use on proinflammatory cytokines and periodontal parameters. Methods: In this non-randomized study, ninety participants diagnosed with gingivitis were assigned into three groups. examined the effect of oral hygiene instructions on periodontal parameters and inflammatory biomarkers. Thirty CS (n=30) vaping electronic-cigarettes (e-cig) (n=29), and non-smoker (NS) (n=31) was included. Clinical parameters including PI, BOP, and GI were recorded at baseline and after 3 weeks

The objective of this study is to determine levels of some pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-12 and SIL-2R) in pregnant women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and also to determine incidence of spontaneous abortion during first trimester in pregnant women with PCOS compared with non-PCOS pregnant women. This Study was performed on (93) women, consisted of: 1- (63) pregnant women during the first trimester, which included:A- (33)PCOS pregnant women and subdivided into the following groups: (20) successful pregnant PCOS, (7) blighted Ovum PCOS and (6) missed abortion PCOS. B- (30) non-PCOS pregnant women, which included: (27) successful pregnant control and (3) non-PCOS pregnant women were withdrawn from this study because of their abortion

Antiparasitic activity of Artemether and combination Artemether with Artemisinin against Leishmaniasis, in vitro.
...Show More Authors

The Leishmania donovani parasite causes visceral leishmaniasis (VL), an acute and fatal form of leishmaniasis. Because traditional therapy alternatives, such as glucantime and other pentavalent medicines, are toxic and have side effects, new treatments with fewer negative effects are needed. Only a handful of drugs are clinically beneficial to treatments of the disease, but considerable limitations threaten their very usage. Novel, safe, and efficient drugs, including those against antimalaria and leishmaniasis co-infections, are so essential. Artemether (ATM) is an Artemisinin derivative that has been demonstrated to be useful in the treatment of malaria and, more recently, leishmaniasis. The current research was carried out to evaluate th
