TiO2:MoO3 nanocomposite gas sensors prepared by pulsed laser deposition
...Show More Authors

Powders for (TiO 2 ) 1−x(MoO 3 ) x composites have been prepared with the use of a dry mix of TiO2 and MoO3 oxides with a variety of compositions (x = 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1), then sintering at 1473 K. The materials have been ground and formed into pellets so that they could be used as targets for the pulsed laser deposition (PLD) process, which produced thin flms with a thickness of ≈150 nm on a glass substrate. When MoO3 is added to TiO2 , the crystal size has been observed to decrease from 33.3 to 25.8 nm, yet it after that continued to expand as MoO3 was added. The molybdenum ions were confrmed by XRD patterns, indicating that the substitution regarding Mo+6 ions for Ti +4 ions in TiO2 matrix is what is responsible for the changes in the oxide system’s optical properties. When MoO3 amount in TiO2 thin flms increases from x = 0.2 to x = 0.6, the energy gap (Eg) opt drops by 3.1 eV before increasing again. The optical constant was computed, and the wavelength was plotted. With regard to the composite, a gas sensitivity measurement was made. Samples of thin flms were deposited on silicon substrates for (TiO 2 )1−X(MoO 3 ) x /n-Si while oxidizing as well as reducing gases were present. Maximum sensitivity 77% and fast response time 4.5 s have been acquired from (TiO 2 ) 0.6(MoO 3 ) 0.4 composites thin flms of gas sensors when exposed to H2 S gas at a working temperature of 373 K

Efficiency Enhancement of a Dual-axis Solar PV Panel Tracker Using Water-Flow Double Glazing Technique
...Show More Authors

The fall angle of sun rays on the surface of a photovoltaic PV panel and its temperature is negatively affecting the panel electrical energy produced and efficiency. The fall angle problem was commonly solved by using a dual-axis solar tracker that continually maintains the panel orthogonally positioning to the sun rays all day long. This leads to maximum absorption for solar radiation necessary to produce maximum amount of energy and maintain high level of electrical efficiency. To solve the PV panel temperature problem, a Water-Flow Double Glazing WFDG technique has been introduced as a new cooling tool to reduce the panel temperature. In this paper, an integration design of the water glazing system with a dual-axis tracker has been ac

The influence of no-core fibre length on the sensitivity Optical fibre Humidity sensor
...Show More Authors

Abstract: Reflection optical fibre Humidity sensor is presented in this work, which is based on no core fibre prepared by splicing a segment of no core fibre (NCF) at different lengths 1-6 cm with fixed diameter 125 µm and a single mode fibre (SMF). The range of humidity inside the chamber is controlled from 30% to 90% RH at temperature ~ 30 °С. The experimental result shows that the resonant wavelength dip shift decreases linearly with an increment of RH% and the sensitivity of the sensor increased linearly with an increasing in the length of NCF. However, a high sensitivity 716.07pm/RH% is obtained at length 5cm with good stability and reputability.  Furthermore, the sensor is shif

Surface Plasmon Plastic Optical Fiber Resonance with Multi-Layer as Chemical Sensor
...Show More Authors

A chemical optical fiber sensor based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) was developed and implemented using multimode plastic optical fiber. The sensor is used to detect and measure the refractive index and concentration of various chemical materials (Urea, Ammonia, Formaldehyde and Sulfuric acid) as well as to evaluate the performance parameters such as sensitivity, signal to noise ratio, resolution and figure of merit. It  was noticed that the value of the sensitivity of the optical fiber-based SPR sensor, with 60nm and 10 mm long, Aluminum(Al) and Gold (Au) metals film exposed sensing region, was 4.4 μm, while the SNR was 0.20, figure of merit was 20 and resolution 0.00045. In this work a multimode

This paper includes a comparison between denoising techniques by using statistical approach, principal component analysis with local pixel grouping (PCA-LPG), this procedure is iterated second time to further improve the denoising performance, and other enhancement filters were used. Like adaptive Wiener low pass-filter to a grayscale image that has been degraded by constant power additive noise, based on statistics estimated from a local neighborhood of each pixel. Design Investigation of 2 × 2 Mach–Zehnder Optical Switch Based on a Metal–Polymer–Silicon Hybrid Plasmonic Waveguide
...Show More Authors

In this paper, a miniaturized 2 × 2 electro-optic plasmonic Mach– Zehnder switch (MZS) based on metal–polymer–silicon hybrid waveguide is presented. Adiabatic tapers are designed to couple the light between the plasmonic phase shifter, implemented in each of the MZS arms, and the 3-dB input/output directional couplers. For 6 µm-long hybrid plasmonic waveguide supported by JRD1 polymer (r33= 390 pm/V), a π-phase shift voltage of 2 V is obtained. The switch is designed for 1550 nm operation wavelength using COMSOL software and characterizes by 2.3 dB insertion loss, 9.9 fJ/bit power consumption, and 640 GHz operation bandwidth

Darwinian Philosophy as Optimization Method for Design High Reflection Mirror Include New Merit Function
...Show More Authors

In this paper we proposes the philosophy of the Darwinian selection as synthesis method called Genetic algorithm ( GA ), and include new merit function with simple form then its uses in other works for designing one of the kinds of multilayer optical filters called high reflection mirror. Here we intend to investigate solutions for many practical problems. This work appears designed high reflection mirror that have good performance with reduction the number of layers, which can enable one to controlling the errors effect of the thickness layers on the final product, where in this work we can yield such a solution in a very shorter time by controlling the length of the chromosome and optimal genetic operators . An in vitro assessment of the residual dentin after using three minimally invasive caries removal techniques
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>To evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of three minimally invasive (MI) techniques in removing deep dentin carious lesions. Forty extracted carious molars were treated by conventional rotary excavation (control), chemomechanical caries removal agent (Brix 3000), ultrasonic abrasion (WOODPECKER, GUILIN, China); and Er, Cr: YSGG laser ablation (BIOLASE San Clemente, CA, USA). The assessments include; the excavation time, DIAGNOdent pen, Raman spectroscopy, Vickers microhardness, and scanning electron microscope combined with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM–EDX). The rotary method recorded the shortest excavation time (p < 0.001), Brix 3000 gel was the slowest. DIAGNOdent pen va</p> ... Show More

Implementation of Optical Coherent Communication System between Two Computers
...Show More Authors

This work represents implementation and investigation of optical coherent communication system between two computers. A single mode optical fiber is selected as transmission medium. The data are sent via the RS-232 standard interface with a bit rate of 9.6 kbps from personal computer (PC1) by line receive to convert the data from electrical levels (-12/+12 V) into TTL level (0/5 V). The modulation of this data was accomplished by internal modulation using laser diode type (HFCT-5208M) 1310 nm wavelength. The optical D-coupler was used to combine the optical signal that come from laser source with optical signal of laser local oscillator (OTS-304XI) at 1310/1550 nm wavelength to obtain coherent (homodyne and heterodyne) detection respective
