The objective of this study is to determine levels of some pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-12 and SIL-2R) in pregnant women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and also to determine incidence of spontaneous abortion during first trimester in pregnant women with PCOS compared with non-PCOS pregnant women. This Study was performed on (93) women, consisted of: 1- (63) pregnant women during the first trimester, which included:A- (33)PCOS pregnant women and subdivided into the following groups: (20) successful pregnant PCOS, (7) blighted Ovum PCOS and (6) missed abortion PCOS. B- (30) non-PCOS pregnant women, which included: (27) successful pregnant control and (3) non-PCOS pregnant women were withdrawn from this study because of their abortion in first trimester. 2- (30) non-pregnant subjects, which subdivided into the following groups: (18) non-pregnant PCOS and (12) non-pregnant control. Serum luteinizing hormone (LH), testosterone hormone levels and serum pro-inflammatory cytokines [IL-12 and sIL-2R] levels were measured in all subjects. It is found that the incidence of spontaneous abortion {missed(18.2%) and blighted ovum(21.2%)} in first trimester of pregnancy for 33 women which was (39.4%) and it is 3.9 fold higher than incidence of spontaneous abortion {missed(3.3%) and blighted ovum (6.7%)} for 30 non-PCOS pregnant women which was (10%). The LH levels were increasing significantly (P<0.05) in testosterone levels were increasing significantly (P<0.05) in all four PCOS groups when compared with two control groups (pregnant and non-pregnant). The IL-12 levels were elevated in all four PCOS groups when compared with two control groups. The sIL-2R levels were increasing significantly (P<0.05) in spontaneous abortion PCOS group and in non-pregnant PCOS group when compared with pregnant control group. In conclusion rise of some proinflammatory cytokines (IL-12 and sIL-2R) levels in pregnant women with PCOS during the first trimester may be attributed to an endocrine abnormalities and related directly to high levels of testosterone. The rising pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-12 and sIL-2R) levels of non-pregnant PCOS may be attributed to interactions between the neuroendocrine and immune systems.
Background: Many previous studies were concerned with
the relationship between gestational diabetes and the
development of vaginal candidiasis in pregnant women. In
this study, our aim is directed to uncover glucose tolerance
status in non-diabetic pregnant women inflicted with
candida albicans.
Methods: Thirty-four pregnant women with vaginal
condidiasis (as demonstrated by microscopy) were enrolled
in this study. The patients were nearly similar in their
anthropometric and demographic criteria with those of the
healthy pregnant women (control group, forty –two
women). Fasting plasma sugar and glucose tolerance test
were alone for all patients and control group.
Results: fasting plasma sugar was
This study was conducted in Diyala province for renal failure patients during the periods August 2015 - April 2016. Hundred renal failure patients were enrolled in the study after diagnosis by the consultant physician at Ibn-Sina Center for Dialysis in Baquba Teaching Hospital according to criteria adopted by the World Health Organization for diagnosis of renal failure disease. The number of males in patient’s sample was 61 (61%) and females was 39 (39%) with an age range of 10 – 88 year (44.7 ± 22.1 year). In addition, the study included 50 apparently healthy individuals and considered as a group control, in which the number of males and females was similar (25 individual), with an age range of 18 – 88 year (51.7 ± 17.3 year). Paraoxonase-1 (PON1) gene polymorphism, -108 C >T in the promoter region, have been identified as factors that influence both the stability of the enzyme and its active site. This, in turn, contributes to increase oxidative stress, a recognized risk factor associated with PCOS. This study aimed to investigate the connection between paraoxonase-1-108 C >T gen polymorphisms with PCOS in Iraqi women in a case-control study included 40 women with PCOS and 40 women with normal cycles and no symptoms of

The results showed a significant increase in MDA in three stages of pregnancy compared with the control group. The concentration of MDA increased significantly in pregnant women with multipregnancy when compared with pregnant women for the first time, and in pregnant women whom was using contraceptions compared with p

The pathophysiology of PCOS appears to be multifactorial and polygenic. Leptin seems to play an important role in pathophysiology of PCOS especially in women with BMI ≥25kg/m2. Objectives: To assess leptin level in both PCOS and healthy women and explore the relation to their body weight and body mass index. Patient and Methods: A total of 120 women were enrolled in this study, 60 women (50%) had PCOS (study group) and the reminder 60 women (50%) were healthy women and considered as control group. BMI was calculated first. Both groups were further sub

The more susceptible to infect with toxoplasmosis is the Diabetic patients, due to low level of immunity response. The aim of current study is to investigate the immune status of diabetes mellitus type 2. One hundred and seventy five samples of both diabetes mellitus type 2patients and controls which had been tested by ELISA technique to detect anti-Toxoplasma Abs (IgG and IgM). The positive toxoplasmosis samples were tested to detect the level of TNF alpha and MIG. Results for all samples clarified that seronegative for IgM antibodies while 53 (53%) diabetic patients were seropositive for IgG antibodies and for toxoplasmosis

All measured parameters were determined by spectrophotometric analysis. The results showed a significant(P<0.05) increase in serum ALT, AST, blood urea nitrogen, triglyceride and total cholesterol levels in group B as compared to group A. However creatinine, total bilirubin and glucose levels did not show any statistical significant alt

specimen from an individual without symptoms or

diabetes mellitus in a sample of Iraqi women.
Patients and Methods: A total of 125 female

Pregnancy- including hypertension(PIH), also known as preeclampsia, is one of the major causes of maternal and fetal death. This study was carried out on 30 pregnant women with preeclampsia and 30 healthy pregnant women as control ranging in age mean ±SD (28.84±3.55) years , BMI (76.80±9.78) Kg/m2 and gestation age(30.82±0.75)week.
