...Show More Authors

Abstract Objective: The objective of this study was to explore in-depth the impact of after-hours academic work at home on the wellbeing of college pharmacy faculty members. Methods: This qualitative study was conducted through face-to-face individual-based interview with faculty members at the College of Pharmacy, University of Baghdad in Iraq. A purposive sampling was used to enroll faculty with different levels in their academic carrier. Interviews were conducted till reaching the point of saturation. The interviews were conducted from Nov 7 through December 6, 2023. All interviews were audio-recorded. Qualitative interview data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings: Twenty faculty members participated in the study: 16 have a Ph.D. while four with master’s degree. The faculty experience years ranged from 8 to 31 years. Pharmacy faculty members must manage a diverse array of academic responsibilities from home, including lecture and exam preparation, grading assignments, conducting research, supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students, and fulfilling administrative duties. These academic duties require extensive daily hours, extending beyond official work time and negatively impacting faculty members' physical, mental, and social well-being. It also limits time for family, social interactions, exercise, and hobbies. Conclusion After-hour work at home heightens the risk of burnout and fosters a negative perception of pharmacy faculty profession. In response, the faculty are calling for increased financial, moral, and logistical support from the college, university, and ministry. They also recommend enhancing the work environment by providing administrative assistance, raising salaries, funding research, expanding social activities, reducing after-hours electronic communications, and easing workloads by limiting the annual number of admitted students.

ABSTRACT
The majority of the environmental outputs from gas refineries are oily wastewater. This research reveals a novel combination of response surface methodology and artificial neural network to optimize and model oil content concentration in the oily wastewater. Response surface methodology based on central composite design shows a highly significant linear model with P value <0.0001 and determination coefficient R2 equal to 0.747, R adjusted was 0.706, and R predicted 0.643. In addition from analysis of variance flow highly effective parameters from other and optimization results verification revealed minimum oily content with 8.5 ± 0.7 ppm when initial oil content 991 ppm, tempe
... Systemic lupus Erythematosus is an autoimmune disease of unknown aetiology affecting multiple organ system. Reactive nitrogen and oxygen species are claimed to play a role in this disease. However, the potential of Nitrosative/Oxidative Stress to elicit an autoimmune, response remain till now largely unexplored in humans. This study was done to investigate the status and contribution of nitrosative/oxidative stress in Iraqi patients for systemic lupus erythematosus. Blood samples from 19 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and 19 age-and sex- matched apparently healthy controls were evaluated for serum levels of nitrosative/oxidative stress markers including nitric oxide, peroxynitrite and malondialdehyde.
