Pilot phase of Iraqi Registry of Cardiovascular Diseases in Women: Assessing the Feasibility of Large Data Registry in Absence of Funding
...Show More Authors
Objectives:

Despite that cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the main cause of death in women worldwide and that the existent evidence that women with CVD differs from men with the same diseases from many views including pathophysiological to therapeutic. Yet, there is an unmet need for registries focused on sex differences in CVD, as the first step toward patient-centered trials, guidelines, and protocols. To the best of our knowledge, there has been no prior registry focusing exclusively on CVD in women with sex-focused research questions and methodology thus far.

Materials and Methods:

The Iraqi Registry of Cardiovascular Diseases in Women (IROCW) recruits women who were admitted to the included centers in Iraq. IROCW includes different cardiovascular diseases which are ischemic heart disease, valvular heart disease, heart failure (HF), and arrhythmias. In this paper, we included the results of the pilot phase that was designed and implemented to ensure the feasibility of a large-scale sex-specific cardiovascular registry in Iraq.

Results:

The pilot phase included 150 patients, mean age was 60 years, and 89.3% of patients resided in urban areas. 60% of the women’s family total income was <500 USD. The most common cardiac risk factor is hypertension while menopause and gestational hypertension are the most common sex-specific risk factors. In-hospital echocardiography was done in 26%. In-hospital HF was reported in 20% of patients. Aspirin, P2Y12 inhibitors, heparin, and statin were used in 85.8%, 60.4%, 35.4%, and 87.9%, respectively. B-blockers, angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI)/angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs), and mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist (MRA) were used in 71.1%, 62.8%, and 7.2% respectively. Dietary instructions as indicated on discharge were done properly in 96.6%, while smoking cessation counseling and referral for cardiac rehabilitation were not done properly in daily practice. 78% of our pilot population were reachable at 1-month follow-up.

Conclusion:

Up to our knowledge, the IROCW registry is the first sex-focused methodology cardiac registry that will bridge the knowledge gap in clinical characteristics, diagnostic parameters, and management plans in women with CVD, and it will also assess the prognostic benefit of different guideline-directed medical therapies; specifically in women, an issue that is not settled in existing literature. If the second large cohort of IROCW is achieved as planned, it will generate data that can help in establishing a roadmap to decrease the CVD burden in women in Iraq.

Forgiveness and its relation to the social intelligence among elementary school students
...Show More Authors

The study aims to identify the relationship between forgiveness and social intelligence among elementary school students. The study employed a descriptive analytical approach, whereby a total of (500) elementary school student were selected randomly regarding the variable of gender and economical status. Two scales were prepared: one to measure the forgiveness depending on Albort’s theory that consist of (20) item, and the other to measure the social intelligence according to Tony’s theory which composed of (20) item as well. The result revealed that 6th grade students have interested level of the forgiveness and social intelligence, the girl showed significant differences according to the forgiveness variable, the sample

stress and strain analysis for the prosthetic hand design actuated by links
...Show More Authors

Prosthetic hands are compensatory devices for the hand amputees as a result of injury, various accidents or birth deformities, types of prosthetic hand vary depending on the mechanism they operate and how they perform. There are common types in use that are characterized by their complex mechanisms, which are difficult for the amputee to use or exclude use because of their high cost, therefore the aim of this research is to design an artificial hand that is suitable in terms of simplicity of use and low cost and similar to a natural hand with regard to dimensions and shape that operated in the mechanism of links. This research involves Stress and strain analysis of the prosthetic hand and its fingers that modelled from (Petg CR)

Segmentation Moon Images Using Different Segmentation Methods and Isolate the Lunar Craters
...Show More Authors

Segmentation is the process of partition digital images into different parts depending on texture, color, or intensity, and can be used in different fields in order to segment and isolate the area to be partitioned. In this work images of the Moon obtained through observations in Astronomy and space dep. College of science university of Baghdad by ( Toward space telescopes and widespread used of a CCD camera) . Different segmentation methods were used to segment lunar craters. Different celestial objects cause craters when they crash into the surface of the Moon like asteroids and meteorites. Thousands of craters appears on the Moon's surface with ranges in size from meter to many kilometers, it provide insights into the age and ge

The Probable Association between Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Toxoplasma gondii Infection
...Show More Authors

Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic disorder that constitutes a major health problem worldwide. Toxoplasma gondii is an intracellular parasite that may infect any nucleated cell. Toxoplasmosis is becoming a worldwide health threat, infecting 30–50% of the world’s human population. The studies that have been undertaken to investigate the link between T. gondii infection and diabetes have shown contradictory fi ndings. This research aimed to look at the possible link between T2DM and T. gondii infection. Methods and Subjects: The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) approach was used to screen for T. gondii IgM and IgG antibodies in 69 patients with T2DM and 92 seemingly healthy persons as controls. The contrast and illumination technique for image capturing under different Tungsten illumination
...Show More Authors

The digital camera which contain light unit inside it is useful with low illumination but not for high. For different intensity; the quality of the image will not stay good but it will have dark or low intensity so we can not change the contrast and the intensity in order to increase the losses information in the bright and the dark regions. . In this search we study the regular illumination on the images using the tungsten light by changing the intensities. The result appears that the tungsten light gives nearly far intensity for the three color bands(RGB) and the illuminated band(L).the result depend on the statistical properties which represented by the voltage ,power and intensities and the effect of this parameter on the digital

Abstract
The Makhoul Dam project proposed to be established is considered one of the strategic projects in Iraq as it works to insurance large quantity of water spare in flood seasons, increase the storage capacity of the dams in Iraq, as well as increase food security. The Makhool Dam is located on Tigris River in Salah al-Din Governorate, and 8 km south of the meeting point of the Tigris River with the Lower Zab River. The lake area is about 256 km2. In this research, a mathematical model was prepared by using HEC-RAS Two Dimension Software to analyze the velocity patterns and water depths inside makhool dam reservoir at the highest operational water elevation, based on the designs prepared
...
