Formulation and Evaluation of Bilayer Tablets Containing Immediate Release Aspirin Layer and Floating Clopidogrel Layer

Aspirin and clopidogrel are considered the most important oral platelets aggregation inhibitors. So it is widely used for treatment and prophylaxis of cardiovascular and peripheral vascular diseases related to platelets aggregation .In this study aspirin and clopidogrel were formulated together as floating bilayer tablet system. Three different formulas of 75 mg aspirin were prepared by wet granulation method as immediate release layer; different disintegrants used to achieve rapid disintegration. Formula with crosscarmellose as disintegrant achieve rapid disintegration was selected for preparation of bilayer tablet.

Different formulas of 75 mg clopidogrel were prepared as sustained release floating layer by wet granulation (effe

Case Report and review of literatures Common Carotid Artery Aneurysm and Subclavian Arterio-Venous Fistula

Vascular injury is still common in countries such as Iraq where both military and urban violence are endemic.
This is a report of a thirty eight year old civilian patient who had been inflicted with shrapnel injury during the 3rd. Gulf war, which had caused two different types of vascular injury with minimal evidence of vascular injury with evidence of only two small wounds in the neck and upper chest at the time of injury but presented few months later with a pulsatile neck mass and palpable thrill across the right supraclavicular area and upper chest.
Preoperative investigations were done including Doppler study and angiography which confirmed the presence of right common carotid artery aneurysm and

Batch and Flow Injection Spectrophotometric Determination of Tetracycline Hydrochloride and Doxycycline Hyclate in Pharmaceutical Preparations

New, simple and accurate batch and flow injection spectrophotometric
methods have been developed for the determinationsof tetracycline
hydrochloride (TCH) and doxycycline hyclate (DCH) in pharmaceutical
preparations. The methods are based on diazotization of
metchlopramide and coupling reaction with either TCH or DCH in alkaline
medium to form yellow–orange water soluble dye with absorption maxima
at 414 and 436 nm for TCH and DCH, respectively. A graphs of absorbance
versus concentration show that Beer’s law was obeyed over the
concentration ranges of 1 –52 μgmL-1 TCH and DCH for batch method and
of 8 – 240 μg mL-1 TCH and 5 – 350 μgmL-1 DCH for FIA method. The
limits of detection in batchmetho

Removal of Nickel and Cadmium Ions from Wastewater by Sorptive Flotation: Single and Binary systems

The removal of heavy metal ions from wastewater by sorptive flotation using Amberlite IR120 as a resin, and flotation column, was investigated. A combined two-stage process is proposed as an alternative of the heavy metals removal from aqueous solutions. The first stage is the sorption of heavy metals onto Amberlite IR120 followed by dispersed-air flotation. The sorption of metal ions on the resin, depending on contact time, pH, resin dosage, and initial metal concentration was studied in batch method .Various parameters such as pH, air flow rate, and surfactant concentration were investigated in the flotation stage. Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and Hexadecyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (HTAB) were used as anionic and cationic surfactant re

Selective Attention and Its Relation to cognitive Load and Thinking Mistakes of Baghdad University Students

The present search aims to develop a test for selective attention, cognitive load and thinking mistakes and measuring these concepts among Baghdad university students. To make a comparison between the selective attention, cognitive load, and the mistakes of thinking among students in term of gender. To identify the relationship among the selective attention, cognitive load and the mistakes of thinking of university students. To achieve these purposes, the searcher has developed a test for selective attention, cognitive load, and the mistakes of thinking. Then, these tools were applied to a sample of (200) university students were selected from (21) college. The researcher used t-test of one sample, t-test of two independent

Status of Some Trace Elementsin Idiopathic and Ischemic Cardiomyopathy and Coronary Artery Disease: Echocardiographic Correlation

Background:The most principal mechanisms of cardiomyopathies are;high preload and afterload and low myocardial contractility, imbalance of trace elements may cause myocardial metabolic dysfunction and may have a role in aetiology of cardiomyopathy, particulary in IDC. Trace elements are being increasingly recognized as essential mediators of the development and progression of heart diseases.
Methods: Study design Multi case-control study and single center estimation of trace elements concentrations in a number of volunteer settings this study was conducted in the Department of Cardiology, Ibn Albitar Hospital, and in the Physiological Chemistry Department of the College of Medicine, Baghdad University, fr

Measurement and Analysis of Natural Radioactive Elements in Salty Sediments from Central and Southern Iraq

Purification of fifteen NaCl samples from natural and different area in the middle and south of Iraq are prepared  and studied the structural characteristics of samples by powder X-ray diffraction analysis at 𝛌=1.542Ã…. The present work considered the specific activities of naturally occurring radioactive materials in salt samples, which are measured and analyzed using high resolution HPGe system. Also, the radiological parameters have been considered in this work. The average specific concentration (in Bq.kg-1) of the salt samples is found 16.864.92 for 226Ra, 5.972.05 for 232Th and 9.852.8 for 40K, respectively, which are below the national levels, 40Bq.kg-1, 30Bq.k

Anti-Oxidant and Anti-Microbial Activities of [ZnO: CoO/ Eugenol] and [ZnO: Fe2O3/ Eugenol] Nanocomposites

Metal oxide nanocomposites (MONCs) manufacturing is increasingly gaining popularity. The primary cause of this is the broad range of applications for such materials, which include fuel cells, photovoltaics, cosmetics, medicine, semiconductor packing materials, water treatment, and catalysts. Due to their size, stability, high surface area, catalytic activity, simplicity in fabrication, and selectivity for particular reactions. The MONCs with various morphologies have been created by physical, chemical, and biological processes, such as sol-gel, hydrothermal, co-precipitation, solvothermal, and microwave irradiation. Eugenol (4-allyl-2-methoxyphenol) is a major component of clove essential oil and it was found in various plant groups, has

DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION AND TESTING OF LOW SPEED WIND TUNNEL WITH ITS MEASUREMENT AND INSPECTION DEVICES

A low speed open circuit wind tunnel has been designed, manufactured and constructed at the
Mechanical Engineering Department at Baghdad University - College of Engineering. The work is one of
the pioneer projects adapted by the R & D Office at the Iraqi MOHESR. The present paper describes the
first part of the work; that is the design calculations, simulation and construction. It will be followed by a
second part that describes testing and calibration of the tunnel. The proposed wind tunnel has a test
section with cross sectional area of (0.7 x 0.7 m2) and length of (1.5 m). The maximum speed is about (70
m/s) with empty test section. The contraction ratio is (8.16). Three screens are used to minimize flow
