3D-shape formation of blood vessels based on computer aided design system
...Show More Authors

This paper proposes and tests a computerized approach for constructing a 3D model of blood vessels from angiogram images. The approach is divided into two steps, image features extraction and solid model formation. In the first step, image morphological operations and post-processing techniques are used for extracting geometrical entities from the angiogram image. These entities are the middle curve and outer edges of the blood vessel, which are then passed to a computer-aided graphical system for the second phase of processing. The system has embedded programming capabilities and pre-programmed libraries for automating a sequence of events that are exploited to create a solid model of the blood vessel. The gradient of the middle curve is adopted to steer the vessel’s direction, while the cross-sections of the blood vessel are formed as a sequence of circles lying in planes that are orthogonal to the gradients of the middle curves. The radii for the circles are estimated as a distance between the intersection points of the blood vessel edges with the orthogonal plane to the middle curve gradient. The system then uses these circles and the middle curve gradients to produce a solid volume that represents the 3D shape of the blood vessel. The method was tested and evaluated using different cases of angiogram images, and showed a reasonable agreement between the generated shapes and the tested images.

Microfacies Analysis and Stratigraphic Framework of Yamama Formation in Sindbad, Halfaya and Ad'daimah Oil Fields, Southern Iraq
...Show More Authors

The Yamama Formation represents a part of the Late Berriasian-Aptian sequence, deposited during the Early Cretaceous period within the main shallow marine depositional environment. The studied area covers three oil fields; Sindbad oil field, Halfaya and Ad'daimah oil field, located in southeastern Iraq. Six major microfacies were recognized in the succession of the studied area represented by the Yamama Formation to determine and recognize depositional paleoenvironments. These microfacies are; Peloidal  Packstone, Algal  Wackestone to Packstone, Bioclastic Wackestone – Packstone, Foraminiferal Bioclastic Wackstone, Packstone, Peloidal – Oolitic Grainstone and Mudstone Microfacies. These microfacies are classified int

THE STUDY OF MINERALOGICAL AND MICROFACIES ANALYSIS SHIRANISH FORMATION WELL (KH-6) ANSAB AREA IN SOUTHERN IRAQ
...Show More Authors

The study of Shiranish Formation rocks in southern part of Iraq at Ansab area well (KH-6)
were carried out. The formation is tongued with tayarat formation, which bounded from top
and bottom, the upper tongue at thickness 49m. and tongued at depth (476-525m.) the lower
tongue at thickness 4m. tongued at (541-537m.).
The rocks of this formation were divided into three sedimentary microfacies:
1- Dolomitized formininferal Wackestone facies.
2- Dolomitized formininferal Mudstone facies.
3- Dolostone facies.
34 slides were investigated depending on mineralogical, compositional and biological
processes and compared diagenesis which reflect open marine shelf at lower part of formation

Study of Limestones from the Nfayil Formation in Bahr Al-Najaf Depression and Suitability for Thermal conductivity
...Show More Authors

The evaluation of the Nfayil limestones in Bahr Al-Najaf Depression as construction materials was done on 15 sites distributed over a region. The study included field and laboratory aspects. The field side included collecting information about the study area and samples. As for the laboratory side, laboratory tests were conducted to study the thermal conductivity of samples by a device called Lee’s disc in the Tikri University. The thermal conductivity results ranged between 2.34 and 0.27. The rocks are of high thermal insulation at low temperatures and low insulation at high temperatures according to the specifications of the suitability of limestone for thermal conductivity standards (ASTM C 1057-03-2010).

An Artificial Neural Network for Predicting Rate of Penetration in AL- Khasib Formation – Ahdeb Oil Field
...Show More Authors

The main objective of this study is to develop a rate of penetration (ROP) model for Khasib formation in Ahdab oil field and determine the drilling parameters controlling the prediction of ROP values by using artificial neural network (ANN).

An Interactive Petrophysical software was used to convert the raw dataset of transit time (LAS Readings) from parts of meter-to-meter reading with depth. The IBM SPSS statistics software version 22 was used to create an interconnection between the drilling variables and the rate of penetration, detection of outliers of input parameters, and regression modeling. While a JMP Version 11 software from SAS Institute Inc. was used for artificial neural modeling.

SEQUENCE STRATIGRAPHY AND PALEOENVIRONMENT OF AALIJI FORMATION IN BAI HASSAN OIL FIELD IN KIRKUK PROVINCE, NORTHERN IRAQ
...Show More Authors

The Aaliji Formation in wells (BH.52, BH.90, BH.138, and BH.188) in Bai Hassan Oil Field in Low Folded Zone northern Iraq has been studied to recognize the palaeoenvironment and sequence stratigraphic development. The formation is bounded unconformably with the underlain Shiranish Formation and the overlain Jaddala Formation. The microfacies analysis and the nature of accumulation of both planktonic and benthonic foraminifera indicate the two microfacies associations; where the first one represents deep shelf environment, which is responsible for the deposition of the Planktonic Foraminiferal Lime Wackestone Microfacies and Planktonic Foraminiferal Lime Packstone Microfacies, while the second association represents the deep-sea environme

Porosity Prediction from Seismic Inversion for Yamama Formation in (Abu-Amoud) Oil Field in Southern of Iraq
...Show More Authors

The study is an attempt to predict reservoir characterization by improving the estimation of petro-physical properties (porosity), through integration of wells information and 3D seismic data in early cretaceous carbonate reservoir Yamama Formation of (Abu-Amoud) field in southern part of Iraq. Seismic inversion (MBI) was used on post- stack 3 dimensions seismic data to estimate the values of P-acoustic impedance of which the distribution of porosity values was estimated through Yamama Formation in the study area. EMERGE module on the Hampson Russel software was applied to create a relationship between inverted seismic data and well data at well location to construct a perception about the distribution of porosity on the level of all uni

Abstract<p>The existing investigation explains the consequence of irradiation of violet laser on the optic properties of (CoO2) films. The film was equipped by the utilization of semi-computerized spray pyrolysis technique (SCSPT), it is the first time that this technique is used in the preparation and irradiation using a laser in this technique. From the XRD analysis, the crystalline existence with trigonal crystal system was when the received films were processed by continuous violet laser (405 nm) with power (1W) for different laser irradiation time using different number of times a laser scan (0, 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18 times) with total irradiation time(0,30,45,60,75,90 min</p> ...
