Qurain AL-Thamad Valley Hydrological Aspects Extraction Using Remote Sensing and GIS Techniques
...Show More Authors

In the arid to semi-arid lands the extracted hydrological features are essential ones, since their effect on water projects managing, agricultural projects administrating, and animals grazing, so that this research is considered to be vital research because the climate of Qurain AL-Thamad basin is arid climate and basin region inhabited by many tribes who works in agricultural and grazing fields. The illustration of hydrological features using morphometric analyses is optimum since the quantization issue of basin factors, in the past this would be difficult using classical procedures (i.e. using paper topographic maps and planmeter). Recently as in this work modern procedures has been used (i.e. satellite imagery DEM as ancillary image a

A plate-based assay system for analyses and screening of the Leishmania major inositol phosphorylceramide synthase
...Show More Authors

Sphingolipids are key components of eukaryotic membranes, particularly the plasma membrane. The biosynthetic pathway for the formation of these lipid species is largely conserved. However, in contrast to mammals, which produce sphingomyelin, organisms such as the pathogenic fungi and protozoa synthesize inositol phosphorylceramide (IPC) as the primary phosphosphingolipid. The key step involves the reaction of ceramide and phosphatidylinositol catalysed by IPC synthase, an essential enzyme with no mammalian equivalent encoded by the AUR1 gene in yeast and recently identified functional orthologues in the pathogenic kinetoplastid protozoa. As such this enzyme represents a promising target for novel anti-fungal and anti-protozoal drugs. Given

Horizontal pushout tests and parametric analyses of a locking-bolt demountable shear connector
...Show More Authors

A ‘locking-bolt’ demountable shear connector (LBDSC) is proposed to facilitate the deconstruction and reuse of steel-concrete composite structures, in line with achieving a more sustainable construction design paradigm. The LBDSC is comprised of a grout-filled steel tube and a geometrically compatible partially threaded bolt. The latter has a geometry that ‘locks’ the bolt in compatible holes predrilled on the steel flange and eliminates initial slip and construction tolerance issues. The structural behaviour of the LBDSC is evaluated through nine pushout tests using a horizontal test setup. The effects of the tube thickness, strength of concrete slab, and strength of infilled grout on the shear resistance, initial stiffness, and du

Study the spectral reflectance and factor affecting they for the dominate land cover by using remote sensing technique in Abu-Gharib projection
...Show More Authors

Image of landsate-7 taken by thematic mapper was used and classified using supervised method. Results of supervised classification indicated presence of nine land cover classes. Salt-soils class shows the highest reflectance value while water bodies' class shows the lowest values. Also the results indicated that soil properties show different effects on reflectance. There was a high significant positive relation of carbonate, gypsum, electric conductivity and silt content, while there was a week positive relation with sand and negative relation with organic matter, water content, bulk density and cataion exchange capacity.

Distribution of Environmental Isotopes 18O and 2H in Water Resources in the Al-Taji Area, Northern Baghdad, Iraq
...Show More Authors

In this study, the stable isotop 18O and 2H has been used to investigate the interaction of surface water (SW), and groundwater (GW) in Al-Taji district/ Northern Baghdad for two seasons (March and August 2022). 16 Samples were collected from water resources in the Al-Taji district (Tigris channel, Tigris River, and groundwater), in each season water samples from 8 Tigris channel, 5 drilled wells, and 3 Tigris River were taken for the analysis of the isotopes 18O and 2H. The average analysis results of 18O and 2H in the Tigris channel, Tigris River, and groundwater were found to be -3.435‰ and -18.6094‰, -2.07167‰ and -17.81‰, -4.125‰ and -34.707‰ respectively. The results, generally, show a comparable range of isotope c

Geochemistry of the Middle Eocene Gercus Sandstone, Shaqlawa Area, Northern Iraq: Implications for Provenance, Tectonic Setting and Paleoweathering
...Show More Authors

The study of the geochemical characterization of sandstone rocks contributes to understand the nature of the source rocks, their tectonic setting and the effects of paleoclimate and paleo-weathering. Accordingly, twenty sandstone samples from the red sandstone units of the Gercus Formation were collected from the northeastern limb of Safin Anticline at Shaqlawa Area – Northern Iraq. The studied sandstone samples show depletion in major, trace elements contents, except for CaO, MgO and Ni, Co and Cr respectively, and general depletion in the rare earth elements (REE) contents. Major element geochemistry indicates that the red bed sandstones of the Gercus Formation are of an oceanic island arc (OIA) tectonic setting. On the other

Research summary

The researcher in theological sects finds that the controversial issues between the owners of the sects are many, filled with the books of the sects, articles and creeds, and when examining these books it became clear to us that the dispute is related, some of it is related to the meaning and some of it is related to the words and it is many, explained to us by rhetorical terminology such as guidance and delegation, Interpretation and others, and part of it is what is called the verbal disagreement, and sometimes it is by using common possible expressions of truth and falsehood, as in the saying of the Kharijites, “The judgment is only for God,” and some of it is related to something outside th
