In Vitro Assessment of the Effects of Varying Dosages of Alexandrite Laser on the Development of Staphylococcus Aureus

Background: This study aimed to apply a high-power pulsed alexandrite laser in vitro, the researchers tested different exposure periods, pulse lengths, and laser fluencies to see which dosage was most successful against S. aureus bacteria, which had developed resistance to many antibiotics. Method: Three bacteria samples were exposed to laser beams for 30 seconds with a 5ms pulse duration and a laser fluency of 5J/cm2. The process was repeated with laser fluencies of 10, 15, and 20. Results: The study was carried out by using different doses of Alexandrite laser. Results: There are significant differences (p = 0.05) in the mean number of bacteria colonies exposed for 30 and 60 seconds at any laser fluencies utilized in the present investigation. Except for the 15 J.cm-2 laser fluency; there was a statistically significant difference (p < 0.001) between 60 sec and 90-sec exposure durations. Conclusion: In conclusion, the exposure periods, pulse durations, and laser fluencies of pulsed alexandrite laser were found to have an influence on the mean colony count of S aureus bacteria and to establish the effective dose.

Biofilm Shows Independency from Hemolysin Genes Arsenal in Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus.

Normally, bacteria exposed to antibiotics at sub minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC) inside the host. Therefore, the current study aimed to comprehend the association among hemolysins, biofilm, as well as gentamicin resistance in local MRSA isolates. Around 35 Staphylococcus aureus locally isolated from different clinical specimens were employed in this study. Methicillin resistance was detected via cefoxitin disk diffusion and mecA amplification methods. MIC of gentamicin was estimated by broth microdilution method. Hemolysin genes involving hla, hlb, hld, and hlg were determined using multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique. Microtiter plate method was employed for biofilm assessment in the presence and absence of gentamic

Isolation of Staphylococcus aureus from ear swab in Iraqi children as a causative agent of Otitis externa

Background: Staphylococcus aureus is a Gram-positive, spherical, grape like clusters arrangment
bacterium, non-spore forming. Is a genus that causes many hard diseases such as food poisoning,
gastroenteritis with severe symptoms. S. aureus is commonly found in the wide environment (soil, air and
water) and is importantly found in the nose and skin in the humans. And can causes ear infection by
entering the ear. The diagnosis of Otitis externa is usually made clinically and bacterial tests.
Objective: To detection and isolation of the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus from pus specimens of ear
swab, among Iraqi children with Otitis externa.
Patients and methods: Eighty ear swab specimens from suspected cases of Otitis ex

The in-vitro development of novel enzyme-based chemo-mechanical caries removal agents

Objectives Bromelain is a potent proteolytic enzyme that has a unique functionality makes it valuable for various therapeutic purposes. This study aimed to develop three novel formulations based on bromelain to be used as chemomechanical caries removal agents. Methods The novel agents were prepared using different concentrations of bromelain (10–40 wt. %), with and without 0.1–0.3 wt. % chloramine T or 0.5–1.5 wt. % chlorhexidine (CHX). Based on the enzymatic activity test, three formulations were selected; 30 % bromelain (F1), 30 % bromelain-0.1 % chloramine (F2) and 30 % bromelain-1.5 % CHX (F3). The assessments included molecular docking, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), viscosity and pH measurements. The efficiency

Antibiotic Resistant Gene Exchanged Between Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus

Escherichia coli  infections are becoming difficult treated because of extensive resistance to antibiotic among these organisms and manufacturing extended-spectrum beta lactamases enzymes (ESBLs) make them resistant to beta-lactam antibiotics. This study aims to offer a summary of the main horizontal transmission  apparatuses  between E. coli as well as  Staphylococcus aureus and emergence resistance to antibiotics. Fifty of the E. coli and  50 of S. aureus isolates were examined to obtain minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) results. These isolates were then tested by  conventional polymerase chain-reaction for the existence or absenc

Synergistic Effect of Linezolid, Tigecycline, and Vancomycin on Staphylococcus Aureus Isolated From Iraqi Patients with Diabetic Foot Ulcers

Ninety nine swabs were collected from patients with diabetic foot ulcers (DFU), all swabs   were cultured on different selective media for screening, 46 isolates confirmed as S. aureus by API staph. The results of antibiotic susceptibility test revealed that all isolates were resistant to metronidazole, 34 isolates were resistant to cefoxitin, ceftriaxone, and meropenim, 23 isolates were resistant to ciprofloxacin and norfloxacin, 17 and 16 isolates were resistant to tetracycline and trimethoprim, respectively; while all isolates were sensitive to tigecycline. The results of minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) that carried out by using vancomycin, tigecycline and linezolid for 8 isolates, MIC results were1-2 µg /ml

Genotyping of Staphylococcus aureus Isolates Based on Methicillin-Resistance Genes and its Relatedness to some Putative Virulence Factors

The emergence and spread of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) was a public health problem worldwide that causes nosocomial and community infections. Forty three isolates (71.66%) were characterized as S.aureus, were isolated from 60 different clinical specimens (blood, nose, wound, urine and vaginal) collected from patients from different hospitals of Baghdad. All isolates were resistant (100%) to Aztreonam, Carbenicillin, Cifixime, Cefoxitin, Ceftazidime, and showed high resistance to each of Methicillin, Oxacillin, Ampicillin and Penicillin . the MRSA isolates were typed based on (SCCmec) typing ,the result revealed that SCCmecIVa was the most common in isolates (41.86%), following type IVc (20.93%), type II(16.27%). Antibacterial effects of green tea extracts on Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (In-Vitro study)

Background: Green Tea is made from the leaf of the plant “Camellia sinensis”. Green tea is reported to contain thousands of bioactive ingredients including catechins which have shown great promise for having antimicrobial effects. Periodontal diseases represent one of the most prevalent diseases around the world and the main etiologic factor behind it, is plaque accumulation, in addition certain kinds of bacteria have been detected frequently in subjects suffering from periodontitis, Several studies suggested that the outcome of periodontal treatment is better if particular pathogens including Aggregatibacteractinomycetemcomitans can no longer be detected after therapy. Materials and Methods: plaque samples were collected from 2
