Effect of the level of corticosteron hormone in the blood of local Iraqi chicken mothers on the sex ratio of the produced offsprings
...Show More Authors

This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between corticosterone hormone in the blood of local Iraqi white chicken mothers and the sexual ratio of the hatching chicks. A field experiment located at the Poultry Research Station, Livestock Department, Agricultural Research Department, Ministry of Agriculture for the period from 16 of September 2018 to 25 of December 2018. One hundred and forty birds of Iraqi local chicken mothers (100 females+ 40 males) at the age of 28 weeks were provided from the poultry research station. The birds were raised in individual cages and distributed sequentially to the cages after the numbering of the females. Data were recorded in three periods, each period was of 28 days, and then the general average of each studied character was calculated. Blood was withdrawn at the end of each period to measure the concentration of corticosterone in maternal blood, and then the birds were distributed on the basis of hormone concentration to three groups: low, medium, and high to compare the performance of mothers. The results showed a significant difference in the concentration of corticosterone hormone in the blood of mothers (Ng/100 ml) according to the level of the class, percentage of hatching chicks and the secondary and primary sex ratios. A linear relationship was observed between the studied traits and corticosterone concentration levels through calculation the regression and correlation as well as the adoption of the method of estimating the results of the prediction to reach the best predictive values that bring closer to reality. It can be concluded that the second period of the experiment was the …

Study the Effect of the Homemade Nitrogen Laser System in Medical Field
...Show More Authors

A high power N2 laser of the three stage-Blumlein circuit designed, which consist two identical electrodes, four capacitors and three spark gaps which designed discharge geometry with minimum inductance. This system gives a maximum energy 18 mJ with a pulse time 6.65 ns and wave length 337.1 nm. The distance between spark gap terminals has large effect on the output energy. The ideal distance were 11 mm between the terminals for the first spark gap and 4 mm between the terminals for the second spark gap, the distance between the terminals of the spark gaps has a significant effect on the resulting energy, where the energy decreases when the distance between the terminals of the first and second s

Physicochemical Factors Affected the Partial Purified Lipase Activity of Acinetobacter baumannii "local isolates"
...Show More Authors

Microbial lipases today occupy a place of prominence among biocatalysts owing to their ability to catalyze awide variety of reactions in aqueous and non- aqueous media, A.baumannii were isolated from different clinical specimens from hospitalized patients from Baghdad hospitals and were detected by biochemical tests and API20E system. The percentage of isolation was (16.6%), A. baumannii is an increasingly multidrug – resistant (MDR), it showed high level of resistant to Ceftriaxon, Colistin, Piperacillin, Co-trimoxazol, Tertracycline, Carbenicillin, Amoxicillin, Penicillin G, Gentamicin and Ceftazidim , wherease the isolates were highly sensitive to Imipenem, Ciprofloxacin, Meropenem, Amikacin, and Cefotaxime.

The efficiency calibration for local manufacturing gamma scanning systems of radioactive waste drums
...Show More Authors

The Local manufacturing scanning gamma system designed in Tuwaitha site for nondestructive assay method of radioactive waste drums, where it consist of two main parts with their belongings for controlling the of detector and drum movements up-down and rotation respectively. The volume of the used drum is 220 L with 85 cm height. The drum filled with Portland cement. Six cylindrical holes were made within cement drum and distributed in radial arrangement.The152Eu source inserted in these holes individually, to measure the average angular count rate of gamma radiation. The full energy efficiency value for geometry of drum and detector is computed for thirteen photo peaks. The average efficiency represented by the curve of these peaks indic

Smoking-related diseases can be attributed to the inhalation of many different toxins, including heavy metals, which have a host of harmful health effects. The primary objective of this study was to determine whether local and imported cigarette brands used in Iraq , have they elevated levels of metals or not .Three metals Lead (Pb) , Cadmium (Cd) and Chromium(Cr) were determined in tobacco of seventeen brands of imported cigarettes commonly available in Iraq and three Iraqi domestic cigarettes , which were randomly taken from retail market in Baghdad by using flame atomic absorption spectrometry. The produced data of imported and local cigarette brands were discussed and compared together and with studies from elsewhere .The result

Comparison Between Procalcitonin and Traditional Blood Biomarkers in Diagnosis of Sepsis in Iraqi Wounded Soldiers
...Show More Authors

Early diagnosis of sepsis is a very critical matter especially for soldiers in battle field; on the other hand, Procalcitonin is a new promising biomarker for fast and accurate diagnosis of sepsis. The aim of this study is to investigate the ability of Procalcitonin (PCT) to indicate sepsis earlier than blood culture and other traditional biomarkers and then get use of this in early diagnosis of sepsis.Procalcitonin concentration was measured in 44 sera of Iraqi wounded soldiers who were admitted to GHAZI AL-HARIRI Hospital for surgery, using ELISA kit of BioRay/USA, along with blood culture and other infection biomarker like C-reactive protein, ESR, W.B.C. count. Six patients had elevated PCT and 3 of them
