Nanocomposite was prepared using unsaturated polyester (UP) resin as a matrix and graphene nanoparticles as a reinforcement material in six percentage weights (0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 1 and 1.5%). Mechanical, calorimetric and thermal studies were performed on the (UP) resin/graphene nanocomposite. All tests showed a clear improvement of all mechanical properties examined (hardness, flexural strength (F.S), impact strength (I.S) and tensile strength (T.S)) with increasing graphene percentage. In addition, the temperature of glass transition and thermal conductivity of this composite increased with increasing graphene content.

The aim of this research is to evaluate the effect of glucose and sodium chloride on biofilm formation by bacteria causing wound infection. For this purpose, 1% and 2% concentration of each of glucose and sodium chloride were used to test the biofilm formation potential of Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which were the most common abundant bacteria that cause infection by biofilm. Each of the concentrations was kept in contact with the pathogenic bacteria for 24 hours. Previous experimental studies have suggested that hot mixed asphalt (HMA) concrete using hydrated lime (HL) to partially replace the conventional limestone dust filler at 2.5% by the total weight of all aggregates showed an optimum improvement on several key mechanical properties, fatigue life span and moisture susceptibility.
