Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common arrhythmia in daily practice and one of the heart disorders with the highest morbidity and death rates, as it is responsible for a huge number of negative consequences. In our country, there is limited information on the prevalence or natural history of the less well-defined clinical types. Objective: to evaluate the clinical profile and coronary artery findings in atrial fibrillation patients. Patients and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted during the period from the first of October 2019 to end of July 2021 at the Iraqi Center for the heart disease at Baghdad Medical City. Included 32 Iraqi patients with atrial fibrillation of both genders. Angiography performed through the femoral Artery approach, Data collected by history, through clinical examination and investigations, using data collection sheet Results: The main type of AF was chronic, (62.5%), Echocardiography findings revealed Systolic dysfunction in 31.1% of patients, Diastolic dysfunction in 37.5%, and both dysfunctions in 6.2%, Left atrium was dilated in 13 (40.6%). Angiographic findings revealed RCA lesion in 13 (40.6%) patients, LCA in 9 (28.1%) while both RCA and LCA lesions present in 3 (9.4%) patients. LAD lesions reported in 10 (31.2%) patients, LCX in 27.8% and LMS in 16.8%. Conclusion: Chronic AF was the more frequent type, Systolic and diastolic dysfunction are frequent among AF patients. RCA was more frequently affected than LCA, LAD was the more affected branch.
Calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumour (CEOT) is a benign odontogenic neoplasm of epithelial origin that secretes an amyloid‐like protein tending towards calcification. This study aims to describe a case series from Iraq of one of the rarest odontogenic tumours.
Clinical and histopathological analysis of Calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumour cases that are archived at the oral pathology laboratory of the college of dentistry (Baghdad University) from 2000 to 2019.
Six cases of CEOT were regi
Background Median sternotomy is the gold standard incision for most cardiac operations. However, with the advent of minimal invasive surgery, a new approach emerged in cardiac surgery named mini-sternotomy and has been successfully used to perform a variety of operations.
The aim of this paper is to present our experience of using mini-sternotomy to harvest the left internal mammary artery (LIMA) for off-pump revascularization of the left anterior descending artery (LAD)
Methodology Over a 2-year period (October 2012-October 2014), 100 patients underwent coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) via conventional median sternotomy (CMS) (n=80) and mini-sternotomy (MS) (n=20). The

To assess the feasibility and early results of non-surgical transcatheter closure of atrial septal detect (ASD) using the Ampiatzer septal Occluder (ASO).
Patients and Methods:
From June 2003 to June 2005, i75 patients with ASD secundum, age range 3- 65 years, female to male ratio of 3:2. were evaluated for transcatheter closure using ASO at Ibn Al-
Bitar Hospital for Cardiac Surgery. Transthoracic echocardiography was performed in al patients using standard suhxyphoid, apical, parasternal and suprasternal views. In all
patients, the procedure was done under general anesthesia.
Results:
Based on transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) Findings, 60 patients (33.7%) did not meet the crite
Background: The association between oral microbial infection and systemic disease is not a new concept. A major confounding issue is that oral infections often are only one of the many important factors that can influence systemic diseases .Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the periodontal health status of patients with acquired coronary heart disease. Type of the study: Cross-sectional study. Methods: The study group consisted of 200 patients with an age range (35-70) years, having coronary heart disease .This study group were compared to a control group of non-coronary heart disease (200 individuals ) matching with age and gender. The oral parameters were examined including the periodontal conditions, assessment of periodo

Objective: The study’s aim to evaluate the effectiveness of instructional program about healthy lifestyle on patients’ attitudes after undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention.
Methodology: Quasi-experimental design/ has been utilized for the current study starting from December 2018 to March 2020 to achieve the objectives of the study. Non-probability (purposive) sample of 60 patients was divided into intervention and control groups. Data were analyzed by the application of descriptive and inferential statistical methods.
Results: findings reported that before intervention both study and control groups demonstrated low total mean of score relat

Furthermore, patient comfort is increased and outpatient treatment may be feasible..Objectives: To start trans-radial intervention program and the initial learning curve for fellows and the catheterization –laboratory nursing staff. To test how could it be applicable and comfortable for our patientsMethods: This prospective study was performed in Ibn-Albitar hospital for cardiac surgery over a period of 6 months from the 1st of August 2012 till the 1st of February 2013. If untreated or treated inappropriately then it is a serious disease with potentially life-threatening complications. The recent emergence of drug resistant strains of S. Typhi is a rising public health problem and a clinical concern to the physician. AIM: The objectives of the study were to assess and describe the patterns of antimicrobial resistance, clinical characteristics, epidemiological distribution, and complications of typhoid fever. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Fifty cases of typhoid fever (culture proven) were collected during the period from February 2019 to November 2019 in the me

This retrospective aimed at evaluating the catheterization and angiographic finding in our Iraqi patients with diagnosis of TOF
Patients and methods: The catheterization and angiographic study of200 patients with TOF-' referred to Ibn Al-Bitar Cardiac Center had been reviewed.
Results: There were 126 males and 74 females and their ages ranged from 11 months to 37 years. The catheterization data showed that 88% of the patients had equal LV and RV pressure. The evaluation of pulmonary artery pressure showed that all pati
Background: A diverse group of bacteria live in biofilms in the oral cavity. On dental surfaces biofilms form plaque that is potentially involved in caries and periodontal diseases. Periodic studying of plaque microflora and their antimicrobial sensitivity patterns strongly affects the clinical practice in plaque-induced oral diseases. Materials and methods: Dental plaque samples were collected from 22 patients having ages ranged between 33 and 49 years with gingivitis that met the study criteria. Plaque, gingival and gingival bleeding indices (PI, GI, GBI) were measured for each patient. Laboratory procedures included microbiological examination of plaque samples followed by antibiotic sensitivity testing using disc diffusion method were
