Focus Assessment of Transthoracic Echocardiography post septostomy Procedure in Patients Undergoing Ablation of Left Atrial Supraventricular Tachycardia
...Show More Authors

Background: Echocardiography has an important role to follow up patients with Iatrogenic atrial septaldefect (IASD) and after Catheter ablation during electro-physiological study. Objectives: evaluating the impact of non-invasive Transthoracic Echocardiography (TTE) parameters(LAVI, LVEF, ASD size and E/e`) post radiofrequency ablation of left atrial arrhythmia.Patients and methods: for the evaluation of the atrial septal defect, a transthoracic echocardiography(TTE) was used in patients who underwent left atrial arrhythmia ablation, enrolled in prospective studyin the Iraqi center for cardiac diseases, in cooperation with university of Baghdad /college of medicineResults: The outcomes of the present study were assessed according to Transthoracic Echocardiographicparameters with a median period of follow up of six months post-radiofrequency procedure for eachpatient. The mean of age was (36.28±10.34 years), females were 24 (51.1%) while males were 23(48.9%), with no structured heart diseases and normal LV function with mean EF (64.68± ,5.23%) andthe mean LA diameter (35.75±,2.92mm). Iatrogenic atrial septal defects (IASDs) were detected by TTEin all patients with range from (2-5) mm with mean of (3.47±0.92). Also we noticed that patients withsmaller ASD size had higher LVEF than those who had larger ASD size with (P=0.007), while there wasno significant association between ASD size with left atrial volume index (LAVI) and E/e`.Conclusions: Non-invasive Transthoracic Echocardiography (TTE) study that was used post atrialseptostomy for monitoring the closure of residual atrial septal defect is useful and applicable. And maybe used in daily practise post atrial septostomy procedure and recommended rather than the use ofinvasive Transoesophageal Echocardiography (TEE).

Prothrombotic changes in patients with end-stage renal disease and its relation to thrombotic cardiovascular complication
...Show More Authors

There is a great risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and vascular thrombosis in patients with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). These patients exhibit numerous abnormalities in coagulation, fibrinolytic, inhibitory protein abnormalities in multiple levels. The study aimed to assess hypercoagulable changes by measuring the levels of antithrombin, plasma fibrinogen and FXII activity in patients with ESRD, and to find their correlation with Hemoglobin (Hb) level, WBC count, reticulocyte percentage and platelet count. This study was conducted at Al-Hayat center, Al Karama Teaching Hospital on 50 ESRD patients aged < 60 years of both genders. In addition, 20 apparently healthy individuals were included as a control group. The mean Hb level, total

Hematological profile among cutaneous leishmaniasis patients before and after treatment with sodium stibogluconate in Diyala, Iraq
...Show More Authors

Introduction: Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is a common protozoan disease in Iraq characterized by localized ulcers, primarily on exposed skin. This study aimed to investigate the hematological parameters of infected patients using a complete blood count (CBC) in the endemic area of Diyala Governorate, northeast of Baghdad. This has been studied in newly diagnosed, untreated individuals and patients receiving sodium antimony gluconate. Methodology: Hematological screening was performed on blood samples from 161 patients with microscopically diagnosed cutaneous leishmaniasis before and after treatment. Anti-Leishmania IgG was also assessed by ELISA in seropositive and seronegative subjects. Results: The newly diagnosed, untreated pati

Salivary Interleukin-6 Level in Iraqi Patients with Oral Lichen Planus receiving Platelet-Rich Plasma Injections
...Show More Authors

Background: Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a cytokine that has several functions, including stimulating growth and inhibiting cell death. It has the potential to operate as a biomarker for the accurate prediction of disease severity and activity, platelets-rich plasma was used in the treatment of oral lichen planus and can change the salivary IL-6 level.

Objectives: To study the clinical outcome of intralesional platelets-rich plasma in patients with oral lichen planus and to measure salivary IL-6 levels before and after the treatment with platelets-rich plasma were the aims of this study.

Subjects and Methods: In this clinical trial, for each patient a standardi

Nesfatin-1 is a biomarker that plays a role in the inflammatory process of coronary artery diseases in Iraqi patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
...Show More Authors

Amis: NAFLD is considered to be the most common cause of liver conditions worldwide. Also, it is a primary reason that leads to coronary artery diseases, limiting blood flow to the heart. Therefore, This study aimed to evaluate the serum level of Nesfatin-1 and its ability to indicate the prognosis of CAD in patients with NAFLD. Material & Methods: one-hundred eighty Individuals were enrolled in the study, including In both genders, blood was collected from each Individual and sent to the laboratory for biochemical tests. Findings: Data from the current study showed a significant increase in Nesfatin-1 in the CAD group and a significant decrease in Nesfatin-1 in the NAFLD group compared to the control group. In addition, there w

Abstract

This research aims to design a multi-objective mathematical model to assess the project quality based on three criteria: time, cost and performance. This model has been applied in one of the major projects formations of the Saad Public Company which enables to completion the project on time at an additional cost that would be within the estimated budget with a satisfactory level of the performance which match with consumer requirements. The problem of research is to ensure that the project is completed with the required quality Is subject to constraints, such as time, cost and performance, so this requires prioritizing multiple goals. The project

LOW-‎COST SOIL ‎MOISTURE SENSORS’ ASSESSMENT FOR THEIR ACCURACY AFTER CALIBRATION THROUGH THE ‎GRAVIMETRIC METHOD
...Show More Authors

The existing study aimed to assess four soil moisture sensors’ capacitive (WH51 and SKU: S EN0193) and resistive (Yl69 and IC Station) abilities, which are affordable and medium-priced for their accuracy in six common soil types in the central region of Iraq. The readings’ calibration for the soil moisture sensor devices continued through two gravimetric methods. The first depended on the protocols’ database, while the second was the traditional calibration method. The second method recorded the lowest analysis error compared with the first. The moderate-cost sensor WH51 showed the lowest standard error (SE), MAD , and RMSE and the highest R² in both methods. The performance accuracy of WH51 was close to readings shown by the manufac
