Synthesis, Characterization and Biological Evaluation of New Dithiocarbamate Ligand and Its Complexes with some Metal Ions
...Show More Authors

New bidentate dithiocarbamate ligand (NaL) namely [Sodium-2-(((3-methyl -4- “(2,2,2-tri fluoro ethoxy) pyridin-2”-yl) methyl) sulfinyl)-1H-benzoimidazole -1-carbodithioate] was prepared. This free ligand was synthesized from the reaction of a (RS)-2-([3-methyl -4-(2,2,2-tri fluoroethoxy) pyridin-2-yl] methyl sulfinyl)-1H benzoimidazole, CS2 and NaOH in methanol as solvent. From reaction of dithiocarbamate salt (NaL) with metal ions (M); Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Pd(II)”, have obtained  the DTC complexes at general molecular formula [M(L)2(H2O)2] and [Pd(L)2]. To characterize the ligand and its complexes, used different analyses methods such FTIR, UV-Vis, elemental microanalysis, atomic absor

Association between polymorphisms within the gene coding for tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha with outcomes of treatment in a sample of Iraqi patients with ankylosing spondylitis taking etanercept: an observational study
...Show More Authors

Background:Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a progressive, chronic inflammatory illness with an unclear etiology that explicitly targets the vertebral column, peripheral joints, and extraarticular tissues. The purpose of this research was to investigate if the existence of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the promoter region of the tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) gene at positions -1031T/C (rs199964), -857C/T (rs1799724) and -806C/T (rs4248158) in a sample of Iraqi AS patients could influence the patients' outcomes with etanercept.

Methods:Sixty patients with established AS receiving only etanercept were selected to enroll in this study, with a mean age of 40.75±8.6

Study the Effect of some Medical Plants in Biofilm Formation and Antibiotic Sensitivity for Klebsiella Pneumoniae
...Show More Authors

Twenty clinical and fecal samples (ten clinical samples from patients attending to
Imam Ali Hospital and ten chicken faeces samples collected from local poultry farm
in Baghdad city) collected during December 2015, for isolated Klebsiella
pneumoniae. All K. pneumoniae isolates were extended-spectrum β- lactamase
producers and biofilm formation. The activities of two selected K. pneumoniae
isolates for their biofilm formation and susceptibility to antibiotics after treatment
with several plants extracts were investigated. The results of water and 60% ethanol
extracts for Matricaria chamomile flowers, Alhagi maurorum leafs, Syzygium
aromaticum buds (clove) and Arctium minus leafs were showed reduction of biofilm

Recovery of pure Hesperidin from Iraqi Sweet Oranges Peel and study the effect in some bacteria
...Show More Authors

Citrus fruit contain variety of flavonoids such as Hesperidin (the principal flavonoid in oranges and grapefruit). Hesperidin is found in high concentration in fruit peel of oranges and in substantially lower concentration in juice of these fruits. Hesperidin was extracted from oranges peel by treating the peels with calcium hydroxide. HPLC technique was used to determine hesperidin. Hesperidin was saperated and purified in a purity of about 90.1-95.7% and yield about 1.5 %w/w from oranges peel dry powder. Both hesperidin and oranges peel extract showed significan antibacterial activity. Sensitivity to hesperidin and oranges peel extracts were not similar for the chosen bacteriaCrude orange peel extract gave a various antimicro

Study of Drinking Water Quality for Some Water Purification Plants and Pipes Network in Mosul City
...Show More Authors

This study focusing on river water quality as a source of raw water, efficiencies of water treatment plants, the goodness of transporting water pipes in the water networks and drinking water quality as consumed within certain city residential sectors, in addition to seasonal variation. The following water quality parameters were studied: Electrical Conductivity, Turbidity, Dissolved oxygen, Biochemical oxygen demand, the concentration of nutrients like nitrogen and phosphate, the residual chlorine in addition to total bacterial count and total colon bacteria of raw water, and treated water of four selected water treatment plants in Mosul city. These plants are : the right united scheme, the new left scheme ,the old left scheme and the Gh

Serum Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha and High Sensitive C-Reactive protein as Biomarkers in Periodontitis in Iraqi Patients with Osteoarthritis
...Show More Authors

Background: Periodontitis (PD) is well-known chronic disease affecting the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone, Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic joint disease with compound reasons characterized by synovial inflammation, subchondral bone remodeling, also the formation of osteophytes, that cause cartilage degradation. Chronic periodontitis and osteoarthritis are considered widely prevalent diseases and related to tissue destruction due to chronic inflammation in general health and oral health. The aim of this study is todetermine the association of chronic periodontitis and osteoarthritits in patients by analysing tumor necrosis factor alpha TNFα and high sensitive c-reactive protein (hsCRP) in the serum. Materials and Method: A tot

Background: Periodontitis and type 2 diabetes mellitus are both considered as a chronic disease that affect many people and have an interrelationship in their pathogenesis. Objective: The aim is to evaluate the salivary levels of interleukin-17 (IL-17) and galectin-3 in patients with periodontitis and type-2 diabetes mellitus. Materials and Methods: The samples were gathered from 13 healthy (control group) and 75 patients split into 3 groups, 25 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and healthy periodontium (T2DM group), 25 patients with generalized periodontitis (P group), and 25 patients with generalized periodontitis and type 2 diabetes mellitus (P-T2DM group). Clinical periodontal parameters were documented. The concentration of IL-17

Association of hsCRP and Serum Kalirin Levels with the Development and Severity of Premature Coronary Artery Disease in Iraqi Patients
...Show More Authors

Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a major contributor to morbidity and mortality worldwide. Early-onset CAD, also known as PCAD, is a severe form of CAD associated with high mortality and a poor prognosis. Early diagnosis is crucial to reducing complications. While hsCRP is an established biomarker for CAD, kalirin is a potential novel biomarker due to its role in promoting smooth muscle proliferation and endothelial dysfunction. Objective: To evaluate the relationship between serum kalirin and hsCRP levels with the presence and severity of PCAD and to compare the diagnostic value of both biomarkers. Method: The study recruited 92 participants into two groups: the PCAD group (46) included patients with confirmed CAD by an
