Traditional Molecular Study of Eimeria Species (Eucoccidiorida, Eimeriidae) from Ostriches (Struthio camelus Linnaeus, 1758) in Middle of Iraq
...Show More Authors

Abstract Background: Coccidiosis in birds, including ostriches, is a major concern for animal health and productivity worldwide. There is limited data on Eimeria infections in farmed ostriches (Struthio camelus). Therefore, this research aims to investigate the species of Eimeria in ostriches using molecular methods. It is considered the first detailed molecular study of Eimeria species in Iraqi ostrich farms. Methods: A total of 150 ostrich feces samples from farms in three regions of Iraq using both microscopy and molecular methods. Statistical analysis of the positive samples was performed using the chi-square test, with the significance level set at a p-value < 0.05. Results: Initial testing showed a high prevalence rate of 51.33%. Five samples, out of a total of 77 suspected cases, underwent polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for confirmation followed by sequencing of the 18S rRNA gene. Sequencing results revealed two species of Eimeria: E. praecox and E. tenella. Notably, this is the first report of E. tenella infection in Iraqi ostriches. Genetic analysis of their sequences was performed and deposited in GenBank under accessions NO PV078121.1 to PV078125.1). Conclusions: These results have important implications, including understanding the host specificity of Eimeria and the parasite's transmission between other hosts. They also contribute to identifying coccidiosis control strategies in Iraqi ostrich farms. Furthermore, our molecular findings provide a foundation for future comparative research on the epidemiology of Eimeria in birds.

Exploring Euphorbia peplus L. (Euphorbiaceae): Traditional uses, phytochemistry and therapeutic applications: A review
...Show More Authors

Euphorbia peplus L. (Euphorbiaceae), commonly known as petty spurge, is a cosmopolitan weed widely distributed across Iraq. Historically used in ethnomedicine, the species is recognised for the topical application of its milky latex to treat skin conditions, including warts, corns and cutaneous malignancies. Recent phytochemical profiling has identified an array of secondary metabolites, primarily complex diterpenoids, including ingenane and jatrophane esters, as well as triterpenoids, flavonoids, phenolic acids, tannins and alkaloids. Modern research has validated these traditional applications. Beyond oncology, recent preliminary studies demonstrated the probable anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antidiabetic and antileishmanial p

Analysis of Data Obtained From Chromosomal Studies Performed During the Period from 2000-2007 A Retrospective Study
...Show More Authors

Background: Generally, genetic disorders are a leading cause of spontaneous abortion, neonatal death, increased morbidity and mortality in children and adults as well. They a significant health care and psychosocial burden for the patient, the family, the healthcare system and the community as a whole. Chromosomal abnormalities occur much more frequently than is generally appreciated. It is estimated that approximately 1 of 200 newborn infants had some form of chromosomal abnormality. The figure is much higher in fetuses that do not survive to term. It is estimated that in 50% of first trimester abortions, the fetus has a chromosomal abnormality. Aim of the study: This study aims to shed some light on the results of chromosomal studies per

Present study was conducted in order to assess Slabiaat water quality by measuring some physical and chemical factors of river water, the study included a choice of three stations along of Slabiaat River in Samawa city, water samples collected a monthly during the period from September 2013 August 2014. The study involved measuring the Air & water temperatures, pH, Electrical conductivity, Total dissolved solids, Dissolved oxygen, Total hardness, calcium hardness, magnesium, turbidity, and some types of bacteria in River water. The study results showed that the values of air & water temperatures have ranged between (20.1-36.6)?C , (10-21.8) in Slabiaat River, respectively . pH values ranged between (6.6-8.7). In Silico Characterization of a Cyclin Dependent Kinase -A (CDKA) and its Coding Gene in some Oryza Species
...Show More Authors

Rice (Oryza sativa) is a fundamental food for the majority of world population. Cyclin Dependent Kinase -A (CDKA) accelerates transition through different stages of cell cycle and contributes in gametes formation. In the present investigation, a CDKA encoding gene along with the corresponding protein were characterized in O. sativa Indica Group, O. glaberrima,  O. barthii, O. brachyantha, O. glumipatula, O. longistaminata, O. meridionalis, O. nivara, O. punctata and O. rufipogon using in silico analyses. The results reflected little variation in most species except O. longistaminata and O. brachyantha. Compared with the remaining species, O. longistaminata

Histological study to the tongue for the guinea pig (Cavia porcellus) in Iraq
...Show More Authors

The tongue is one of the important organs of vertebrates, as it plays an important role in the process of food intake, absorption and swallowing, It varies the morphological according to the organism, the habitat, and the nature of the food for it. The aim of the study is to reveal the histologist structure of the tongue of the guinea pig(Cavia porcellus), where we took three samples of adult males, and crosses the tongue similar to rodents, except for some differences in terms of the epithelial layers, mucosa, the muscular layer, the number of tongue layers and the spread of papillae on the tongue, which is, differences due to adaptation to the habitat and their diet.

Background: Trauma is one of the most common
clinical problems that confront the maxillofacial
surgeon and radiologist alike. Middle third facial
fractures are diagnosed primarily on the bases of
clinical examination and plain radiographs than can
result in much preoperative speculation.
Objective: To assess the advantages of spiral
computerized tomography over conventional
radiography in the pre-surgical evaluation of middle
third facial fractures.
Methods: Thirty patients with thirty-eight facial
fractures were studied, all patients were examined
clinically, by plain radiography and then by spiral CT.
Results: Of the 38 middle-third fractures, 16
(42.1%) were zygomatic fractures, 8 (21.1%) were
