Online social networks play a central role in information diffusion and opinion formation, making the identification of meaningful communities essential for understanding collective behavior. However, most community detection methods rely primarily on network topology and remain insensitive to the semantic and affective information embedded in user-generated content. To address this limitation, this study proposes a content-enriched community detection framework that integrates structural interactions (retweets and mentions) with topic- and sentiment-based attributes. The proposed approach includes two core methodological components: a learnable edge-weighting mechanism that infers interaction strengths from structural, topical, and sentiment features and a content-aware modularity function (Qattr) that explicitly rewards within-community semantic and affective alignment during Leiden-based optimization. Both components are model-agnostic and can be applied with either lightweight text representations or transformer-based models, allowing flexibility in trade-offs between accuracy and efficiency. The framework is evaluated through extensive experiments on Twitter data, including in-domain, leave-one-domain-out, and cross-platform settings. Performance is assessed using structural metrics (Modularity and Clique Percolation Method), semantic validation measures (Normalized Mutual Information and Adjusted Rand Index), and blinded human evaluation of topic coherence and sentiment grouping with inter-annotator agreement. Statistical significance testing across multiple runs confirms the robustness of the observed improvements. Results demonstrate that jointly incorporating structural, semantic, and sentiment information yields more coherent, semantically aligned communities than structure-only baselines while maintaining practical scalability. Overall, this work provides a principled and empirically validated foundation for semantic-aware community detection in social media networks.
Software-defined networking (SDN) is an innovative network paradigm, offering substantial control of network operation through a network’s architecture. SDN is an ideal platform for implementing projects involving distributed applications, security solutions, and decentralized network administration in a multitenant data center environment due to its programmability. As its usage rapidly expands, network security threats are becoming more frequent, leading SDN security to be of significant concern. Machine-learning (ML) techniques for intrusion detection of DDoS attacks in SDN networks utilize standard datasets and fail to cover all classification aspects, resulting in under-coverage of attack diversity. This paper proposes a hybr
... Show MoreUntil recently, researchers have utilized and applied various techniques for intrusion detection system (IDS), including DNA encoding and clustering that are widely used for this purpose. In addition to the other two major techniques for detection are anomaly and misuse detection, where anomaly detection is done based on user behavior, while misuse detection is done based on known attacks signatures. However, both techniques have some drawbacks, such as a high false alarm rate. Therefore, hybrid IDS takes advantage of combining the strength of both techniques to overcome their limitations. In this paper, a hybrid IDS is proposed based on the DNA encoding and clustering method. The proposed DNA encoding is done based on the UNSW-NB15

In addition to the proliferation of social networking sites that allow individuals to use them and participate in their channels without any restrictions limiting their freedom in publishing. Due to these sites many terms have emerged like alternative media which use internet and its various techniques to serve its objectives notably the freedom of expression without restrictions. This research studies the phenomenon of interactive media i.e. alternative media through Facebook along with the freedom that makes it spreading in the society and the relation of individual freedom with social diversit
... Show MoreIn recent years, the evolution of the community structure in social networks has gained significant attention. Due to the rapid and continuous evolution of real-world networks over time. This makes the process of identifying communities and tracking their topology changes challenging. To tackle these challenges, it is necessary to find efficient methodologies for analyzing the behavior patterns of dynamic communities. Several previous reviews have introduced algorithms and models for community detection. However, these methods have not been very accurate in identifying communities. Moreover, none of the reviewed papers made an apparent effort to link algorithms that can accurately detect dynamic communities. This review aims to present a ta
