New derivatives of the anti-inflammatory, leprostatic drug dapsone 4 are synthesized, characterized and biologically screened by the treating the drug dapsone with chloroacetyl chloride in the presence of base. Both amino groups are acylated to give compound 6. The symmetrical acylated product then treated with Phenol, N-Acetyl-p-aminophenol, p-Chlorophenol, m-Chlorophenol, o-Hydroxybezoic acid and m-Hydroxybezoic acid to give compounds 8(a-f). The antimicrobial activity was tested for the synthesized compounds; activates were good compared to the parent drug. All the new compounds have scanned for their biological activities toward gram ‒ve and gram +ve (M. tuberculosis, S. pneumoniae, E. coli and P. mirabilis) bacteria, the synthesized derivatives gave moderate to good activity toward both mentioned types of bacteria.
Acinetobacter baumannii received attention for its multi-drug resistant associated with many severe infections and outbreaks in clinical environment. The aims of the study are to investigate the antibiotic susceptibility profile of clinically isolated A. baumannii, biofilm production, and the efficiency of Low Frequency Ultrasound (LFU) and honey to attenuate biofilm production. A total of 100 samples were taken from different sources from Baghdad hospitals. The susceptibility patterns revealed the percentage of pan drug resistant (PDR) isolates were 1.5 %, 72.7 % were extended drug resistant (XDR), 16.7 % were multidrug resistant (MDR), and 9.1 % were non MDR and sensitive to most antibiotics used. The present work represents description of three new species of genus Anthrenus
Geoffory from Iraq, these are : A. aradensis sp. nov., A. fabrici sp. nov. and A.
unicolor sp. nov. Locality, host plants and date of collection were given.
The present study introduces description of new species of leafhopper Cicadella latreilla nov. External morphological characters particularly female genitalia were discussed and illustrated, shape of male abdominal apodeme, chaetotaxy of genital style and genital plate of male genitalia, shape of Aedeagus and connective . The external morphological characters were: spotting patterns of vertex, face, pronotum of prothorax, and metothorax, and of lower and upper valves of ovipositors,shape of female seventh abdominasternum.
