המחקר הזה שופך את האור על תופעה חשובה בתחביר ובסמנטיקה העבריים, מכיוון שהוא מתמקד בפועל העזר בשפה העברית ובמאפייניו ומשמעויותיו וזמניו, כדי להבחנת את השינויים הסמנטיים, והתבניות התחביריות המורות על זמני (עבר, הווה ועתיד) בנוסף לנוסח הפועל עם שם הפועל או עם המקור והצירוף הפועלי. מקורות פועל העזר ותפקידיו התחביריים והסמנטיים רבים. את הפעלים הבאים בצירוף הנשואי (פועל + פועל) ארבע קבוצות שהן: פעלים אדוורביאליים, פועלי אספקט, פועלי יכולת והפעלים המודאליים. המחקר מזהה את הדרך של הצירופים הנשואיים. לעתים פועל העזר גורם לתופעת דו משמעות, לדוגמה הפועל (היה) דו משמעי לעתים יכול להיות נושא שניתן להחליפו בפועל (יש), ולעתים יכול להיות אוגד. יתר על כן נחקר האספקט שהוא הדרך להביע באמצעים דקדוקיים את המבנה הטמפורלי הפנימי של סיטואציה מסוימת קיימת. כלומר הוא התייחסות אל טבע הפעולה מבחינת תחלתה, משכה, סיומה, חזרתה, הרגליותה, השלמתה או אי-השלמתה.
This review aims to evaluate the intellectual and literary role of Yosef Chaim Brenner in reshaping the concept of identity in modern Hebrew literature, and draws a map of his period from the late 1890s to the period between the two world wars, when his articles, stories and memoirs contributed to the development of the Hebrew language as a creative and political medium in Palestine/Israel.
