CO2-wettability of sandstones exposed to traces of organic acids: Implications for CO2 geo-storage
...Show More Authors

Wettability of CO2-brine-mineral systems plays a vital role during geological CO2-storage. Residual trapping is lower in deep saline aquifers where the CO2 is migrating through quartz rich reservoirs but CO2 accumulation within a three-way structural closure would have a high storage volume due to higher CO2 saturation in hydrophobic quartz rich reservoir rock. However, such wettability is only poorly understood at realistic subsurface conditions, which are anoxic or reducing. As a consequence of the reducing environment, the geological formations (i.e. deep saline aquifers) contain appreciable concentrations of various organic acids. We thus demonstrate here what impact traces of organic acids exposed to storage rock have on their wettability. Technically, we tested hexanoic acid, lauric acid, stearic acid and lignoceric acid and measured wettability as a function of organic acid concentration at realistic storage conditions (i.e. 25 MPa and 323 K (50 °C)). In addition, measurements were also conducted at ambient conditions in order to quantify the incremental pressure effect on wettability. Clearly, the quartz surface turned significantly less water-wet with increasing organic acid concentrations, even at trace concentrations. Importantly, we identified a threshold concentration at ˜10−6 M organic acid, above which quartz wetting behaviour shifts from strongly water-wet to an intermediate-wet state. This wettability shift may have important consequences for CO2 residual trapping capacities, which may be significantly lower than for traditionally assumed water-wet conditions where CO2 is migrating through quartz rich reservoirs.

Direct Contact Membrane Distillation for Separation of Hcl From A Mixture of Acids
...Show More Authors

HCl is separated from HCl –H2SO4  solution by membrane distillation process(MD). The flat –sheet membranes made from polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and polypropylene (pp.). Plate and frame these types of membrane where used in the process. The feed is a mixture of HCl and H2SO4 acids compositions depended on metals treated object.HCl concentration increased in the permeate during the process but sulfuric acid increased gradually in the feed .During the concentration of solution acids concentrations in the feed at the beginning were 50 g/dm3 of sulfuric acid and 50 g/dm3 of hydrochloric acid at 333K feed temperature the permeate flux was 71 dm

Harnessing Medicinal Plants and Their By-products to Combat Fungal Pathogens in the Face of Climate Change: Implications for Global Food Security
...Show More Authors

This study investigates the impacts of climate change (CC) on the emergence and proliferation of fungal pathogens, with a particular focus on global food security and the potential of medicinal plants and their by-products as sustainable mitigation strategies. Through a systematic literature review of articles published up to 2024, we analyze how CC exacerbates the spread and severity of fungal diseases in crops, leading to significant agricultural losses and threats to food availability. The findings highlight that, alongside conventional approaches such as genetic resistance and precision farming, bioactive compounds derived from medicinal plants and their by-products offer promising, eco-friendly alternatives for the management of fungal

The communicative implications of the uniforms
...Show More Authors

The costume is a language that has carved itself into a path that is transformed over time in line with the development of human thought. The child theater is a form of communication between the individual and his society. The costume in the child's theater is seen as a sign of personality and identity. It is a model of communication that uses many of the world systems to which it belongs. Directed to the child by invoking the creative and creative energies of the designer in the formation of the children's theater. The second topic was the communicative function of secondary signs of uniforms and patterns of their transformations. The theoretical framework of the indicators included the on the research community. And his tools in the an

REVIEWING THE IMPLICATIONS OF TRAINING FOR ACADEMIC ADMINISTRATION STAFF AT CENTRAL MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY
...Show More Authors

Training has an effect on employees’ performances. Accordingly, the person who is responsible for employees’ development must figure out the most effective way to train and develop employees. Central Michigan University (CMU) has recognized the importance of providing appropriate training for employees who have a duty in advising students. The reason is that these employees have a significant impact on students’ educational performances. Thus, special attention to this category of employees is needed to improve advising quality. This research attempted to explore the impact of training on academic advising at CMU. Face-to-face interviews and online surveys were used as data collection tools for this study. The study scope c

In vivo study of the expression of some immune markers in BALB/c mice exposed to Aspergillus fumigatus mycotoxin
...Show More Authors

Gliotoxin (GT) is sulfur-containing mycotoxin within the 2,5-diketopiperazines class. First discovery from Gliocladium. Later discovered from different strains belonging to Aspergillus fumigatus mainly those have glicluster. This study outlines a study on the histological effects of gliotoxin (GT) on mouse brain and spleen tissues using light and electron microscopy, with a focus on its interaction with matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). Histopathological changes through MMPs expressing variability estimated by using Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Mature mice were injected intraperitoneally with acute doses determined by data response analysis (EC50/IC50) as (125, 250, and 500 μg/ml) of GT and compared with a control group that received (metha

Strength and Deformation of Concrete-Encased Grouting-Filled Steel Tubes Columns Exposed to Monotonic Quasi-Static Loading Conditions
...Show More Authors

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a novel concrete-encased column (CE) using small circular steel tubes filled with cementitious grouting material (GFST) as the primary reinforcement instead of traditional steel bars. The research involved three different types of reinforcement: conventional steel bars, concrete-filled steel tubes with 30% of the reinforcement ratio of steel bars, and concrete-filled steel tubes with the same reinforcement ratio as steel bars. Twenty-four circular concrete columns were tested and categorized into six groups based on the type of reinforcement employed. Each group comprised four columns, with one subjected to concentric axial load, two subjected to eccentric axial load (with eccentrici

Cathodic Protection Design Algorithms for Refineries Aboveground Storage Tanks
...Show More Authors

Storage tanks condition and integrity is maintained by joint application of coating and cathodic protection. Iraq southern region rich in oil and petroleum product refineries need and use plenty of aboveground storage tanks. Iraq went through conflicts over the past thirty five years resulting in holding the oil industry infrastructure behind regarding maintenance and modernization. The primary concern in this work is the design and implementation of cathodic protection systems for the aboveground storage tanks farm in the oil industry.

Storage tank external base area and tank internal surface area are to be protected against corrosion using impressed current and sacrificial anode cathodic protection systems. Int
