The study aims to investigate qualitatively and quantitatively the intonational patterns of power abuse and manipulation in Blair’s speech regarding legitimating the war on Iraq. It focuses on examining the representative tonal contours in Blair’s speech, particularly the persuasive strategies of inequality and dissimulation. The major findings have shown that the signs of power are more than the signs of manipulation in Blair’s speech. This is because Blair took the role of an omnipotent character when asserting his truth claims, and attributed that to having a reputed status as a prime minister when accessing information. The most common contours used by Blair’s speech are (H* L-L%) and (L+H* L-L%). The simple high tone (H*) reflects Blair’s assertion when he emphasized the information to convince the parliament to take decision about war against Iraq. By contrast, the complex fall-rise tone (L-H*) has been invested when Blair defocused and blurred the information, using lies and distorted or unclear arguments. Besides, the (L-L%) contour has been commonly invested in the power and manipulative strategies to express the representative speech act. This connotes the idea that the most of Blair’s speech is representative; it contains declarative statements. Such a study helps to enhance learners’ understanding of speakers’ intended meaning, since it focuses on showing the tonal types of the social and cognitive traits of the politician in the discourse.

The Arabic grammatical theory is characterized by the characteristics that distinguish it from other languages. It is based on the following equation: In its entirety a homogeneous linguistic system that blends with the social nature of the Arab, his beliefs, and his culture.
This means that this theory was born naturally, after the labor of maintaining an integrated inheritance, starting with its legal text (the Koran), and ends with its features of multiple attributes.
Saber was carrying the founding crucible of that theory, which takes over from his teacher, Hebron, to be built on what it has reached. It is redundant to point to his location and the status of his book.

The most influential theory of ‘Politeness’ was formulated in 1978 and revised in 1987 by Brown and Levinson. ‘Politeness’, which represents the interlocutors’ desire to be pleasant to each other through a positive manner of addressing, was claimed to be a universal phenomenon. The gist of the theory is the intention to mitigate ‘Face’ threats carried by certain ‘Face’ threatening acts towards others.
‘Politeness Theory’ is based on the concept that interlocutors have ‘Face’ (i.e., self and public – image) which they consciously project, try to protect and to preserve. The theory holds that various politeness strategies are used to prot

Aim: To analyse antimicrobial resistance patterns over 4 years in Iraq, based on data from the national surveillance system. Methods: Using the WHO Antimicrobial Resistance Network software, we collected and analysed 238 973 antimicrobial resistance data from the 106 antimicrobial resistance surveillance sites across Iraq, for 2020–2023, from the Iraqi national surveillance system. The data were analysed using SPSS version 26. Results: Resistance to carbapenem by Acinetobacter baumannii increased markedly, reaching 80% in 2023. Resistance to third-generation cephalosporins was notably high among Acinetobacter baumannii (88.5–92%),

It aims to limit the examples of this phenomenon in the book, and examine it phonologically. Accordingly, the researcher adopted the analaytical descriptive approach, taking into account Al-Rawi’s letter when ordering the verbal follow-based examples, and the order they took in the book in question. The purposes behind this phonological study of verbal follow in Al-Amali’s book are to: reach the sounds which Arabs prefer in the process of following, confirm different beautiful and desirable senses, have easy and speedy pronunciation, maintain harmony between adjacent sounds, count the sounds that occur at the beginning of the

As a result, U.S. presidential candidates have employed various deceptive or misleading tactics to influence public opinion and achieve their political goals. Therefore, this study seeks to investigate the intonation patterns and types (dominant and non-dominant) used by Hillary Clinton in her deceptive discourse. Methods: To achieve this objective, a sophisticated eclectic model was employed, consisting of Austin’s (1962) concept of speech acts, Grice’s (1975) theory of implicature, and Brazil's (1994) intonation model. Results: It was observed that the declarative tone was more frequently used than th
