Bombay (Oh) and Para-Bombay are rare variants of the ABO blood group system that carry significant clinical importance. They are characterized by the absence or a marked reduction in the expression of the H antigen on red blood cells (RBCs). This deficiency leads to a failure in the synthesis of A and B antigens, predisposing patients—particularly those with the Bombay phenotype—to developing potent anti-H antibodies, which can cause severe hemolytic transfusion reactions. Objective: The primary goal is to provide clinicians and laboratory specialists with a practical and comprehensive framework to prevent avoidable blood mismatch and improve clinical outcomes for patients suffering from H-deficient phenotypes. Methods: This review summarizes the underlying biology behind FUT1/FUT2 deficiency and highlights its effects on population groups and founder effects. It integrates serological and molecular tools into a practical diagnostic workflow. Furthermore, it outlines management strategies for pre-surgery, obstetrics, and emergencies, and reviews emerging translational methods, such as the enzymatic removal of H from group O red blood cells. Findings: The review emphasizes the critical nature of early engagement with rare donor networks. It identifies the biological mechanisms of H deficiency and provides a structured approach to managing the risks associated with these rare phenotypes, ensuring that high-potency antibodies do not lead to life-threatening transfusion complications. Conclusion: Implementing a practical and comprehensive framework in laboratories is essential to prevent transfusion incompatibility. By utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and early coordination with donor networks, the safety and outcomes of patients with H antigen deficiency can be significantly enhanced.
The glycated haemoglobin A1c(HbA1c) and Fasting blood glucose(FBG) effect on type1 diabetic pateints as a screening tests and as a gold standard for assessing glycemic control in subjects with diabetes were studied . Ninety one blood samples were collected in a peroid between June and the end of November 2012 at AL- Kindy Diabetic Center and Central Child Hospital,48 Females and 43 Males , aging between (11 month- 18 year), are divided into three groups, newly diagnosed , ongoing and healthy control group, with duration of disease between(1 day-3months) and (from birth-8 years) for newly diag

Some of the properties and characteristics such as size, chromatic number, domination number, diameter, circumference, independence number, clique number, vertex connectivity, spectra, and Laplacian spectra of the order sum graph are determined. Characterizations of the order sum graph to be complete, perfect, etc. are also obtained.
Healthcare professionals routinely use audio signals, generated by the human body, to help diagnose disease or assess its progression. With new technologies, it is now possible to collect human-generated sounds, such as coughing. Audio-based machine learning technologies can be adopted for automatic analysis of collected data. Valuable and rich information can be obtained from the cough signal and extracting effective characteristics from a finite duration time interval that changes as a function of time. This article presents a proposed approach to the detection and diagnosis of COVID-19 through the processing of cough collected from patients suffering from the most common symptoms of this pandemic. The proposed method is based on adopt

Klebsiella infections in the oral cavities of both humans and dogs have been increasingly reported and are associated with various buccal infections, as well as systemic infections. These infections appear to be rising particularly among pets and their owners, suggesting a possible bidirectional transmission between humans and dogs. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the potential link of mixed infections involving Klebsiella pneumoniae and Enterococcus spp. Buccal cavity samples were collected from humans (n = 25) and dogs (n = 25). Samples were initially enriched in tryptic soy broth and subsequently cultured on tryptic soy agar, MacConkey agar, and blood agar. All isolates were identified using the VITEK 2 system, and eight selec

Methods: In this study, formazan compounds (III–XIV) were produced by combining Schiff base compounds (I), (II) with diazonium salts resulting from reactions of different aromatic amines with sodium nitrate in the presence of Con.HCl at 0–5°C. When isonicotinic acid hydrazide reacts with (N,N-dimethylbenzaldehyde, 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde) in the presence glacial acetic acid as a solvent Schiff base compounds are created. Results: The prepared compounds were identified by FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, then the antioxidant activity of the derivatives and molecular docking were studied. D
... Show MoreBacterial meningitis is a leading cause of illness and death worldwide. It is crucial for clinical and public health care, as well as disease control, to identify the meningitis-causing agent promptly. Between June 2021-February 2022, a total of 100 cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and blood samples were collected from suspected cases of meningitis admitted to Raparin Paediatric Teaching Hospital, Erbil city-Iraq. Cytochemical, cultural, and biochemical tests were conducted, and confirmed by molecular techniques. Bacterial culture findings were positive in 7% of CSF samples and just one positive among blood samples. The most common pathogens found by cultural characteristics and VITEK 2 Compact System were Staphylococcus sciuri in two
