Flexural Behavior of Fiber Reinforced Self-Compacting Rubberized Concrete Beams

The massive growth of the automotive industry and the development of vehicles use lead to produce a huge amount of waste tire rubber. Rubber tires are non-biodegradable, resulting in environmental problems such as fire risks. In this search, the flexural behavior of steel fiber reinforced self-compacting concrete (SFRSCC) beams containing different percentages and sizes of waste tire rubbers were studied and compared them with the flexural behavior of SCC and SFRSCC. Micro steel fiber (straight type) with aspect ratio 65 was used in mixes. The replacement of coarse and fine aggregate was 20% and 10% with chip and crumb rubber. Also, the replacement of limestone dust and silica fume was 50%, 25%, and 12% with ground rubber and very fine rubber, respectively. Twelve beams with small-scale (L=1100mm, h = 150mm, b =100mm) were tested under two points loading (monotonic loading). Fresh properties, hardened properties, load-deflection relation, first crack load, ultimate load, and crack width were investigated. Two tested reinforced concrete beams from experimental work were selected as a case study to compare with the results from ABAQUS program (monotonic loading). These two reinforced concrete beams were simulated as a parametric study under repeated loading using this finite element program. The results showed that the flexural behavior of SFRSCC beams containing rubber was acceptable when compared with flexural behavior of SCC and SFRSCC beams (depended on load carrying capacity). Cracks width was decreased with the addition of steel fibers and waste tires rubber.  An acceptable agreement can be shown between the results of numerical analysis and the results obtained from experimental test (monotonic loading). Insignificant ultimate load differences between the results of monotonic loading and repeated loading

Experimental and finite element analysis of reinforced concrete multi-cell box girders retrofitted with carbon fiber reinforced polymer strips under torsion

This study expands the state of the art in studies that assess torsional retrofit of reinforced concrete (RC) multi-cell box girders with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) strips. The torsional behavior of non-damaged and pre-damaged RC multi-cell box girder specimens externally retrofitted by CFRP strips was investigated through a series of laboratory experiments. It was found that retrofitting the pre-damaged specimens with CFRP strips increased the ultimate torsional capacity by more than 50% as compared to the un-damaged specimens subjected to equivalent retrofitting. Structural Behavior of High Strength Laced Reinforced Concrete One Way Slab Exposed to Fire Flame

Effect of Use Recycled Coarse Aggregate on the Behavior of Axially Loaded Reinforced Concrete Columns

Nowadays, the use of recycled waste construction materials instead of aggregates is becoming popular in construction owing to its environmental benefits. This paper presents an experimental and analytical campaign to study the behavior of axially loaded columns constructed from recycled aggregates. The latter was used instead of natural aggregates, and they were collected from the waste of previous concrete constructions. Influence of Coating with Some Natural Based Materials on the Erosion Wear Behavior of Glass Fiber Reinforced Epoxy Resin

In the present study, composites were prepared by Hand lay-up molding. Flexural Moment Capacity Evaluation of Reinforced RPC Two-way Slabs

The aim of this paper is to determine the flexural moment capacity of Reactive Powder Concrete (RPC) two-way slabs based on three models proposed by previous studies (Model 1, Model 2, and Model 3). The results obtained from these models were compared with those obtained from experimental work to check the accuracy and the applicability of the adopted theoretical models. The experimental program included the testing of three simply supported RPC two-way slabs (1000x1000x70) mm each.
